"The Detroit Lions have fired offensive coordinator Mike Martz and promoted offensive line coach Jim Colleto and wide receivers coach Kippy Brown to run the offense in his place, a source in the organization told ESPN's Chris Mortensen."

It's a good move as long as the new offensive coaches who are taking his spot have a more realistic philosophy for this team. Martz is a hell of a coordinator but if he doesn't agree with the idea of the offense than it isn't worth it.

I think i like the move. I liked Martzs philosophy and those are what these two will be using, but in simpler terms. Too many times players were scrambling around not sure where to line up or running the wrong routes. This offense was just a little too complicated. I expect there now to be less confusion and more balance which is what everyone wanted in the end. Only time will tell if this works out.

Would love Colleto to become Ravens OC. Former OL coach during SB run.

And I'll pity whichever team hires him.

In Detroit, Millen rules and as long as he is in control, we could hire BB and we won't win. In reality, I think we will be a much weaker franchise next year. Ford just fired the wrong guy. of course Martz likes to win and that just didn't fit with Millen's or Ford's philosophy.

This is why detroit will always be crap. They might have a season where they flirt with .500, but everyone knows that as long as millen is there they will stink! You can keep firing coaches, but the problem is the idiot called matt millen. The guy is a joke and his drafts suck! I feel for lions fans, all they now will have is an average spot in the draft and will suck again next year.

Your lettiong Ford off too easily. He hired Millen and refuses to fire him, in fact he gave Millen an extention after last season for his 24-72 , 6 year record. I really don't know which of them is more inept.

Ford. Their have to be millions of football fans who'd do just as badly as Millen did, but few that wouldn't have fired him.

Mike Martz, let go as offensive coordinator of the Lions, got a call Wednesday from Southern Methodist University, a school that is considering him for their head coaching job.

Yeah there's a good idea, lets not hire a coach who has a career winning record as a HC, and took his team to the playoffs 4 out of 5 years. Oh and he also ran an offense considered one of if not, the best ever.
Yeah lets not hire this guy.

Hallelujah.
A running game would be nice, so i think colletto will be a good hire.
