upset about being 6th; thought we would be 4th---ahead of osu and mizzou

osu didnt look good against lsu and beating ou by 20 is more impressive than blowing out ark; plus ou beat mizzou by double digits 2x

here's my top 10
1. OSU
2. Georgia
3. USC
4. LSU
5. Kansas
6. WV
7. Mizzou
8. Oklahoma
9. VT
10. BC

swap OSU and LSU, obviously mine was depending on who won

I debated between if Kansas or Mizzou would be ranked 5 and 7 respectively, so swap those 2

then swap Mizzou with OSU at 4 and 5...I honestly didn't think the loser would fall past 4

6.5/10 (.5 for incorrectly picking the NC) not bad if I do say so myself :)

WV was 4 pts and 2 pts away from top 5, respectively, so it's not horrible...if they hadn't gone into the game ranked 9th they had a shot at a top 4 finish, but IMO there's no way they were going to be ranked ahead of LSU or OSU regardless of outcome, or ahead of USC or Georgia...but that's just my opinion

WVU also had two poor losses to Pitt and USF, and also played in a relatively weak conference.

I'm happy with the rankings. Nice to see that the AP voters didn't buy into the BCS Bowl invitations.

why doesnt usc get punished for losing to stanford

Well by that rationale Mizzou smacked the team that beat LSU just a few weeks before, so should they be ranked ahead of them?

The voters are looking at the whole picture, not just the last game.

ok first of all USC got tremendously punished for stanford. they were never really able to get back into the championship mix after that loss and it really tainted their season with voters. i considered us lucky to have gotten to the rose bowl considering all things. the difference between west virginia and usc is usc lost to stanford early in the season where WVU suffered their upset being the last game of their season.

How is Florida ranked ahead of Michigan? not that it really matters.

At first I was completely bewildered Kansas got a first place vote.. then I realized they were one of only two teams to finish with one loss, and the other got blooooown out in their bowl game.

Still pretty obvious they aren't the best team in the nation but at least there's rationality behind it.

When was the last time a two loss team was the ranked first overall in both polls at the end of the year?

ASU beat Colorado, who beat Oklahoma, who beat Missouri, who beat Arkansas, who beat LSU.

Therefore, I don't understand how ASU doesn't get any first place votes. =D

In all seriousness, I was surprised we are still ranked so high in the coaches poll. I personally feel we should be ranked in the 15-20 range, but I obviously am not upset with the rankings.

well this is the first year a team with 2 losses has won the BCS championship, so in the BCS era I believe it is the first time...prior to that I have no idea

Wow, the AP really loves Florida. Maybe they didn't watch a slow team from the Big Ten kick the crap out of them, in what was essentially a home game.

And Illinois over Michigan in the coaches poll? If I remember correctly, Michigan went into Champaign an beat Illinois, finished with an identical record, and didn't get embarrassed in their Bowl Game.

Oh well, I guess you can't really complain when you have a loss to Appalachian State on your resume. It does pain me to think that had Appalachian State not blocked that Field Goal, Michigan would probably be ranked #10 right now.

Minnesota won a NC with 2 losses a long time ago, iowatreat. But this is certainly the first NC with 2 losses in a LONG time. I think 's a joke that USC and UGA get votes for beating Hawaii and Illinois in bowls.

Yeah, I meant pre-BCS.

Michigan
01-08-2008, 04:06 PM
is there really any point in complaining about the final polls outside of ranks #1-#2 and ranks #25-unranked? If you had a good season, you had a good season. If you had a crap season, you had a crap season. A poll of barely qualified voters shouldn't change your perception...

Not taking anything away from WVU's win, but that Oklahoma team that played WVU was not the same team that played against Missouri. Oklahoma has some maturity issues because they are so young, they are up for some games and not others.

we play a home-home with auburn starting next year
same with colorado

then in the upcoming years we play mich st and fsu

its hard to get good teams to play us now since we became good; our ad has tried to schedule top teams for 1-1 but they only want 2-1 and we wont do that

plus its hard when miami, vt, and bc leave suddenly

Auburn is mediocre, Colorado is more mediocre than Auburn. MSU sucks. FSU is mediocre. But hey it's an improvement over directional Carolina

Tubby is a great X's and O's coach and is a great game day coach. If he stopped teaching his team to chop block then they'd be more highly regarded.

All this coming from a guy who lives by the saying "Why Auburn? Cause **** Auburn that's why"

Hell UF had 230 rushing yards. Granted UM had 373 passing yards on a very young secondary.

UF did not get the crap kicked out of them. Nice try though.

Did you watch the game? Hell froze over twice inside the five, and Henne threw a RZ pick. UF got owned, and Michigan should have won by 20+

If it "should have" happened it would have happened. Henne threw a RZ pick because he's not a good QB. he had a decent game. UF was far from owned. They fumbled 4 times and lost it twice.

Michigan isn't a good enough team to capitalize on mistakes. So no, they never had a chance to win by 20+

Um if Hart doesn't fumble twice in the red zone that's 14 points...14+6=20!

Michigan isn't a good enough team to capitalize on mistakes but they're good enough to beat mighty SEC speed top 10 team Florida? Yeah that makes sense.

By the way that not good QB torched the UF secondary
