Very balanced lineup. Mixed and matched the lines to try to make it four very even lines. Plus, our young D will have three years to mature and by then, we will win the Cup!

Re-uniting Bertuzzi and Morrison is sure to work some magic, and four of our six D are considered elite prospects (Staal, Johnson, Johnson, Whitney) and Markov is one of the best in the business.

My team is the best, I have great balance in my lines , 4 lines that i can roll out with confidence.Tons of firepower as well as great forechecking and defence by the fowards. My defence is very solid, and will be great on the powerplay and Penalty kill(McCabe and phillips will not play too much, nor twill they need to with the workhorses i have on D).My Penatly Kill is absolutely unbelievable, and not wi\only with they shut down oppsoing teams power plays but they themsselves will score quite the amount of shoort handed goals themselves. My Goaltending is also very solid and dependable.

My pitch for my team:

Goaltending: Nabokov is one of the 5 best goalies in the NHL right now, and Leclaire is one of the 5 best young goalies, who happens to lead the NHL is shutouts despite playing for a below-average team.

Defense: The perfect mixture of offensive (Rafalski, Kronwall, Leopold) and defensive (Chara, Redden, Hannan) players. This defense group has great size and physical presence, as well as some of the best Power Play QB's out there. Rafalski and Chara have tremendous shots from the point.

Forwards: It all starts with the guys down the middle of the ice. I would but my collection of Centerman up against any other group out there (Zetterberg, Sundin, Richards, Toews). Each of them anchors their respective lines with potent goal scorers on their wings. Iyla Kovalchuk is the leagues best goal scorer. Zetterberg is the best two-way forward in the game today. Sundin is a tremendous veteran leader. The group of forwards is also very well rounded with a top notch penalty killer like Dan Cleary, and the NHL's leading hitter, Dustin Brown. All 4 lines are defensively sound.

Overall: I have the best balance of scoring, defense and netminding. There are no weaknesses on this team.

I honestly thought it was a one yera draft also. IMO my team is the best anyways. Shutdown defensemen and playmakers on offense. With some grit to back it up.

Regardless the only player who i can see slowing down at all during the 3 year span would be schneider and he oculd be replaced with either phillips or McCabe

Yeah I know, I might be misreading this but it just seems like you're saying "Don't worry, Phillips won't see much ice time or play much on the kill" when that's what he does best
Also him on the power play was interesting at first, but I guess a safety on your second powerplay makes sense if that's what you're thinking.

Well he actually is on my second PK unit, and seeing how both my PK units are unbelievable he will be seeing quite a bit of time on the PK, its just that with schneider, lidstrom, Volchenkov and Weber in front of him, who are all guys who play major minutes, who will probably see not too much ice time. McCabe on the other hand will see very little even strength ice time, but will see lots of time on the PP

I'm not trying to argue against you, you're not in the bottom half of teams here imo. Just when you talk about McCabe it seems like you're applying that to both of them since they're on the same line, just seemed odd to me. Misunderstanding is all.

Rick DiPietro, Brad Richards, Derek Roy, Pavol Demitra are among the surprising non-selections

A good draft by all but Woot's offensive lines are absolutely amazing. You seriously can't beat Wolski/Kane/Backstrom and that's Line 3. Also, the team is chock full of young stars Kane/Cammalleri/Wolski/Backstrom/Backstrom/Ovechkin/Kopitar/Carle

To clear up the confusion of earlier in the thread . . . the intent was for you all to draft a team that would be as competitive as possible for the next 3 years time. Obviously young players are important to have, but it is also essential to have a handful of veterans to round out the team.

C- Shane Doan
A- Dany Heatley
A- Andrei Markov

I love hockey, and I can't sleep, so I'll review every team.

I like the veteran presence on this team. The third line will surely cause problems for teams top lines. Pisani isn't a top line guy. I'd probably switch up the first two lines considering Savard is an incredible playmaker and Heatley is the best sniper in the game IMO. Doan is probably better off on the 2nd line than Prospal. Imagine the Heatley-Savard-Doan line's +/-

It's also pretty ridiculous to not have Savard on the first PP unit, he's probably one of the best passers on the power play in the league.

Love your penalty kill. Solid two way forwards on both units.

The blue line veteran presence is there with Markov, he's really excelling on the PP. Glad to see you put him on the first unit.

Obviously Bob is the best goalie in the game right now, you certainly did no harm to your team there. Price is arguably the best young G in the game (I think Harding is, but hey, I'm a Wild fan)

Great team. You did a good job of assembling stars with players that would work well, with the best goaltender in the game.

I think your team does have some injury concerns though.

What great talent on the first line. If only all three of those guys could stay off the shelf for a whole season (Havlat can't go 10 games without missing 5). I am not sure Kovy and Zetts could play on a line together considering Kovy is horrid on defense and Zetts probably wouldn't like that. The PP line of those three is more likely. Lupul isn't a great second right wing in this draft considering the amount of teams. Love the Richards pick, he is a two-way stud for sure. Did you consider placing Richards, Sundin, and Brown on a line? That line would completely neutralize the other teams top line and score more than enough on their own.

Not sure on Boyes, Lupul, or Cleary. Cleary is definitely playing better this year, but I think Brown is better on that line. Boyes is playing out of his mind this year, but I have seen many Blues games, and he is very lucky this season. Not sure if he can keep that up over a three year span. I like Lupul, just not in that spot.

Your defensive pairings are good. Chara-Rafalski might be the best pairing in the draft. Leopold is pretty good, but not great, and Redden is horrid in his own end. Kronwall is having a career year and Hannan is adequate.

The goalies are the main concern of this team. Nabokov is good, but has had injury problems in the past and Leclaire started hot this year but who knows what his career will bring. If Nabokov/Zetts/Havlat/Chara can stay healthy, this may be the best team in the draft.

I think the main issue I have with this team is the style you plan on playing. You obviously went for the firepower on offense and pretty much disregarded your defensemen. If you are trying to play a traditional style of hockey, this team will break the record for goals allowed in a season. The defense is not very good, and although the penalty kill would be superb, the even strength defense is really lacking. Also, you lack a powerplay quarterback from the blue line, a very important position.

The AO-Dats-St Louis line is the best one in this draft in terms of offense. AO and St Louis are adequate on defense and Dats is very much a two way guy.

Love the fourth line. Lots of grit there. Smyth is one of my favorite players.

Second line, great. Parise is a rock, Kopitar has all the potential in the world and Cammalleri is coming into his own.

Third line, very, VERY young but immensely talented. I'd consider breaking up the second line and switching Wolski and Cammalleri. Kane and Backstrom are studs.

D men.. here's where I have a problem. You have a lot of talented guys but your best one right now is probably Ranger. You have no one who can really start a power play although Carle is okay. Your PK blue liners aren't great.

Goalies, another issue I have. Backstrom hasn't repeated his performance from last year and Fleury is still yet to be determined, although I think he'll continue to develop into an all-star.

Overall, your team is extremely talented but some of your units aren't proven yet and will take time to develop. You probably have the best team in terms of potential but this team wouldn't win the Cup for two years. If this was a 5-6 year draft, you'd have the best team.

First impression is defense. Awesome. The forwards are pretty good, but not great compared to the other top lines in this draft. I don't know your ST units, I'm guessing a Gagne-Briere-Holmstrom-Pronger-Blake PP1 unit and a Hemsky-Jokinen-Zherdev or Fisher-Scotty N-Zubov PP2. PK, you're obviously set on defense but I don't see great PKing forwards outside of BrindAmour and Fisher.

As far as even strength lines, line one is ok, but not great. Gagne is constantly hurt and Zherdev hasn't really proven anything to this point.

Your second line is solid. I love Olli and Holmstrom is a guy I've always liked. Erat is not a guy I would want on my team in this draft, but with your D-men, he's adequate. I'd put Holmstron on line 1 to park it in front of the net and rake up the points with Briere (IMO the most creative player in the game on offense not named Sidney Crosby) and Gagne sniping.

Third line, again, eh. Comrie is good, Hemsky has immense potential but still struggles on D, and Radulov? Really? You must like the Predators.

Downie will cause problems on the fourth line, and I can't see Brind'Amour wanting to play with him. Fisher is great.

D men are insane. Pronger and Niedermayer won a cup last year, Zubov is great (especially in shootouts).

Goaltending is solid, Turco and Legace, 2 guys who you know what you are going to get.

Overall a good, but not great offensive team. You're looking at alot of 2-1 games my friend. Zubov was probably overkill in terms of elite d-men.

Here's my pick for best team, barring injury. What a great mix of offense, defense, veterans, and young studs.

The first line is brilliant. Crosby passing to Gaborik with Nash bruising might be the best line in the draft. Concerns with defense here, but Gaborik is improving there as is Crosby. Gabby could score 70 goals on this line.

Second line is also well put together, but not without risk. Can Cheechoo regain the scoring instinct? Will Marleau ever put it together? Can Naslund regain his scoring touch? Lots of questions, but if they all play to their potential, there is no reason why this line wouldn't be great.

Third line has great balance, a theme you clearly went for. Kovalev is primarily an offensive player, while Madden is a two way power forward and Rolston is evenly balanced. Two of the best shooters in the league here.

Fourth line is the weakness of this team. Carter is decent, Bouchard is decent, Higgins is ok.

Defensively, this is a great balance again. Gonchar is an elite offensive defensemen, Green is full of potential. Visnovsky is so underrated, glad you swooped him. Timmonen is good, Souray has health concerns but a rocket shot.

Power play, you are unmatched. The first line is nuts. I LOVE Alexi Kovalev on the power play. I think he's the best PP guy in the league. He is so good from the side boards and has a pure snipe shot. The fact that you have him at the PP QB on the second unit is great. I'd slide Rolston in somewhere because of his shot.

PK is solid, no real holes.

You have arguably the best young G in the game in Lundy. No problems there, although if he went down I don't think Osgood would be great.

Great job drafting.

Captains:Jarome Iginla(C) Alfreddson(A1 Home),Jagr(A1 Away), Morrow(A2 Home), Lidstrom(A2 Away). Couldnt really choose considering all o them are current captains.

You are great two ways. I really doubt this team would stay healthy, however.

The first and second lines are well suited to match any top line. Morrow is a very underrated and would fit well with Iginla and Staal. Iginla is such a great team player, I think he'd be better off playing with a guy like Jagr to help off center his selfishness. Iginla is so versatile, he can play anywhere, and I think to maximize that you should switch Jags and Morrow.

Second line, no complaints here. Drury, Alffy, and Pat Elias are three elite forwards. I love Alffy. Such a complete player. Hart winner this year if you ask me.

I've never seen a team with Jagr on the third line. I like the Gomez-Jagr connection, just not sure were Patty Sharp fits in on this team. Great PKer, but he's not a guy I'd want playing with Jagr. Jagr is unique in that he can only play with a certain type of line.

Fourth line is nothing to write home about, pretty good but nobody that makes you scared at all. J Staal is a great PKer but nowhere near developed on offense.

Defensively, you're set because you have Nick Lidstrom. You don't really need another stud, and I'm glad you didn't overkill it. McCabe is great on the PP with his rocket shot. Volchenkov is a good pair with Lidstrom, and Schneider is solid.

Goaltending wise, you have some concerns with Vokoun and his consistency and Bryzgalov is just okay. I think this is the weak point of your team.

Power play, you are fine. Awesome first unit. Jagr is so valuable because of his shot. Not much to suggest here.

Penalty kill, established players who can also score. Strong point of your team.

Overall, your special teams look great, I just have some concerns with your netminders and depth overall defensively. Also, this team is aging quickly, and I'm not sure guys like Jagr, Alfreddson, Lidstrom, and Schneider are going to be around long. Good job.

Team Jensen

Forward Lines:

Thomas Vanek (23) - Joe Thornton (28) - Milan Hejduk (31)
Milan Michalek (23) - Ryan Getzlaf (22) - Corey Perry (22)
Ray Whitney (35) - Joe Sakic (38) - Nathan Horton (22)
Cory Stillman (34) - Jason Arnott (33) - Bill Guerin (37)

Defensive Pairings:

Dion Phaneuf (22) - Tomas Kaberle (29)
Jay Bouwmeester (24) - Brent Burns (22)
Matt Niskanen (21) - Craig Rivet (33)

Goaltenders:

Martin Brodeur (35)
Miikka Kiprusoff (31)

1st Power Play Unit:

Thomas Vanek - Joe Thornton - Milan Hejduk
Dion Phaneuf - Tomas Kaberle

2nd Power Play Unit:
Milan Michalek - Ryan Getzlaf - Corey Perry
Jay Bouwmeester - Joe Sakic

1st Penalty Kill Unit:

Jason Arnott - Ray Whitney
Dion Phanuef - Matt Niskanen

2nd Penalty Kill Unit:

Joe Sakic - Nathan Horton
Jay Bouwmeester - Craig Rivet

Captains: Joe Sakic (C), Joe Thornton (A), Craig Rivet (A)

At first glance, the team does not have much wow factor. A lot of hard workers on this team. The goaltending is um, puzzling. Why you'd have Brodeur and Kipper baffles me, I assume you're going to do a split thing where Brodeur and Kipper go halfsies due to Brodeur's age, interesting. It has the potential to be dominant, but I think egos would prevail there. The team overall has a lot of experience, which will help in year 1 but I doubt some of your guys are around for the 2nd year even.

I really like the talent on the first line, but I don't think it would work all that well. Vanek and Hejduk to me are the same player, both great snipers who will work for the goal. Thornton can play with anyone. I'd put Vanek with Sakic, you always want to split up your snipers on even strength lines. The problem is that the void Vanek leaves on the top line would be filled by who? Horton? Whitney? Stillman? Michalek? I'd probably lean Whitney due to pure style of play, but he just isn't at that level any more.

Second line is good. Getzlaf is a rising star and Perry works well with him. Michalek, I'm not sure on. We'll have to wait and see.

Fourth line is good. No complaints. Good, solid veterans who won't make stupid plays.

Your defense is great. Love the Brent Burns pick. I'd probably put Kaberle and Burns together, however. Having Phaneuf and JBo on the same line is too tempting for me. Rivet is solid, and Niskanen is doing well this year (Go UMD Bulldogs)

No need to talk more about the goalies.

PP, I like the first line, and having Sakic in the back in the second line is a luxury every team would love. I'd probably put Guerin in the second power play line, he's just got a great nose for the net.

PK, you're solid. Should be great.

Overall, you have a very unique team. Probably a top 3 team if Brodeur and Kipper split the starts and are at top level.

Team Captain: Paul Kariya
Assistant Captains: Vincent Lecavalier and Brian Campbell

This team was so close to getting my vote for top pick. Spezza and Vinny are money picks. Love the Sedin combo and the goalies. Defense is solid, but the focus is offense and goaltending.

You're obviously a Sabres fan, which is fine.

Kariya Spezza Huselius is a damn good line. Spezza is a playmaker and Kariya can snipe. I'd almost be tempted to put Kariya with the Sedin twins, but this works too. The best part about this team is the ability to switch the players up, you have good balance on each line. Huselius is having a career year and would fit nicely on this line. My concerns with your top line is the defense, I assume you'd be matching lines as much as possible.

Any second line that has Vinny Lecavalier on it is going to be great. The fact that Malkin is on it makes it that much better. Pominville on line 2 is concerning, I think you could easily stick Semin here and have it be that much more dangerous. Pominville is probably on the line for defensive purposes, but I can't see him fitting in well with these two. Plus, Semin speaks Russian.

Third line is great. Sedins can play with anyone and Dumont would be an okay fit. Still think Kariya would fit better with them.

Fourth line, Ribeiro is blossoming and Frolov is getting better. Semin is immensely talented. Like it alot.

Defensively, you have a good mix of young talent and veteran presence. Everyone has a role which is good.

Your special teams are great. Power play is solid, good balance of playmakers and snipers, not to mention the rocket from Regehr in the back. I'd keep the Sedin twins together on the PP, and take Semin out.

Penalty kill is solid. Vinny isn't great on the PK but is adequate and the other three forwards are good PKers.

JS Giguere is clutch and Ryan Miller is a star. Very, very good here.

Great team man.

Why weren't Demitra and DiPietro selected? DP is an elite goalie in the NHL. He's a top 5 guy for me.

Demitra is a great playmaker who is money on the power play. He's certainly better than some guys that were on second and third lines who were taken with the intention of playmaking. Also, I'm shocked Saku Koivu, Cam Barker, Peter Mueller, Jiri Hudler, Mark Parrish (what a 4th line guy he would be), and even a guy like Miroslav Satan weren't drafted.

Heck, now that I think of it, I could probably make a pretty good team with undrafted guys.

Sturm-S Koivu-Lang

I don't agree with no firepower from the blue line. Bieksa owns a big shot from the point, Hamrlik possesses a terrific point shot, Carle is a powerplay quarterback, Seabrook can develop into one.

Pisani isn't a top line guy. I'd probably switch up the first two lines considering Savard is an incredible playmaker and Heatley is the best sniper in the game IMO.

I didn't want a real #1 line. I wanted four balanced lines that I can roll through.

Same with me . . . I have a top scoring line, and then three well rounded lines. I also stressed having 4 top centermen when drafting, with the intention of having them anchor my 4 lines.

Sure I could have put Sundin with Richards and Toews, but what would be the point?
