Manningham? Why do you hate Oakland? Make it Pat Sims "and it's the best mock ever".

chris williams in the first is ok if the skins let loose jansen. otherwise our need is more at guard but im all for letting go jansen and bringing in williams.

in rd 2 i dont like the bowman pick at all. WR just isn't as big of a need for us as DE and CB. if jim zorn comes in for the skins then I can see us going after a wr in fa or through a trade. at seattle, zorn hasnt drafted a wr in the first 3 rounds in the past 5 years.

id rather have Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie with that pick.

The Saints WILL NOT TAKE ANTOINE CASON at #10. Listen, this is really simple. The Saint will either take Dorsey, Ellis, Rivers or Phillips as it stands right now. If not, they will trade down. I think they would take McKelvin before Cason, given Cason's lack of top-end speed.

I like Hardy...but i would rather have Cherilus or Baker in the 1st...then Caldwell in the 2nd. That would be a great mock...at the minute it is just average!

I like Keith Rivers more than Kelly.
I'd rather take Rivers in round 1, and Bowman in round 2

Great first round pick with Smith, but I'd take John Carlson or Earl Bennett in the second round over Nicks.

im not sold on Manningham either but why would we need to take a DT in both 1st and 2nd round Sims and Dorsey? I think mayb someone like Sam Baker fell to us in second would be a nice addition we could always use another solid OT especially if there is 1st round value at that spot.

Love the 2nd pick for the Bucs.

Not too keen on the 1st one. Sweed is basically a Maurice Stovall clone and we don't need another big possession receiver. We need a speedster who breaks out of cuts well.

DeSean Jackson, Phillip Merling & Mario Manningham would be fine picks there.

lovin' this mock! Manningham is exactly the type of receiver the Raiders need to add in the second and great value for a first round talent.

That's probably one of the best Jets mocks possible, if not the best. Very nicely done.

im not sold on Manningham either but why would we need to take a DT in both 1st and 2nd round Sims and Dorsey?
Say we draft Dorsey or Ellis in Rd1. Who lines up next to him at the other DT spot?

Exactly.

We have to find another starting caliber DT, and there won't be many in FA. Those available won't come cheap, and certainly won't have Oakland anywhere near the top of their list of potential landing spots.

DT has been a sore spot for years on top of years. Given the opportunity to solve that problem, I think we'd be fools not to take it.

Our LBs don't shed blocks very well. The more we upgrade the DL, the more we mask that problem and let them focus on coverage, which is what they do best anyway.

I think mayb someone like Sam Baker fell to us in second would be a nice addition we could always use another solid OT especially if there is 1st round value at that spot.

I don't know that Baker really is a 1st round value. He may well go mid-1st. But something about him screams Eric Winston to me.

No way in hell would the raiders pick 2 DTs with there 1st day picks. We have ton of holes everywhere on the board and OT,WR,DE,RB, S so we could fill in a quality player in a area of need rather then focusing on the DT when we already have Dorsey who is a game changing DT already. You have Sands , Kelly , Warren who haven't been anything top notch but will do the job for someone next to Dorsey. Remember we dont even have a 3rd rounder...

Baker was solid with USC all year if we did pick him up im sure kiffin would know if he is pro material or not. I think he would be a better pick for us then another DT for sure. I also wouldnt mind as for the players who are available in this draft at that spot is Caldwell from Florida from what i hear he is doing a good job at the senior bowl which if he is im sure he will rise in the board as well.

This is my stone cold guarantee of the 2008 NFL Draft: Mike Jenkins will not be a New England Patriot if they keep the #7 pick... unless he goes into the combine and absolutely blows people away. It's not happening. Don't be "that guy" who does it because he's a corner.

Unless you have lottery numbers you want to share, one might consider such a statement...well...foolish.

We have ton of holes everywhere on the board and OT,WR,DE,RB, S
OT isn't a huge need, and this scheme is notorious for letting teams pull quality linemen out of their arses.

WR is a secondary position, especially for a run first team like Oakland. This class is full of Reggie Williams and RaShaun Woods types at the top of the board. Better to go after a vet or two and take a guy later in the draft if we want to develop someone.

DE value falls off pretty steeply after Long and Gholston. No point in reaching to address a need.

RBs are a dime a dozen in this scheme.

Safety? Love one. Is there one available in Rd2 whose value is anywhere near that of the available DT talent? No.

so we could fill in a quality player in a area of need rather then focusing on the DT when we already have Dorsey who is a game changing DT already. You have Sands , Kelly , Warren who haven't been anything top notch but will do the job for someone next to Dorsey.
So you think the trash we have at DT will suddenly become starting caliber just by lining them up next to Dorsey? Maybe if we click our heels together and wish really hard...

Sands was awful this year.

Warren was good for maybe a half dozen plays. Beyond that, he's been a waste of time. He and Sands are both likely to be cut. There's no chance they get paid what they're due to make next year. Neither is worth a penny over vet minimum...or, honestly, a roster spot.

Kelly is a FA coming off a torn ACL. Even if he's retained, he's not going to be a factor. He wasn't very good with two healthy knees. Now that he's down to one, he's not even worth mentioning.

You can't polish these turds and expect them to shine.

Remember we dont even have a 3rd rounder...
All the more reason to draft value over need. Regardless of that, DT is far and away this team's greatest need. Adding one DT won't change that. We have no one capable of starting opposite Dorsey, nor do we have a competent #3 for depth. If you recall, we rotate our DTs a lot. Our 3rd DT has to at least be good.

We're 3 DTs away from having a good 3 DT rotation. There's simply no getting around that.

Baker was solid with USC all year if we did pick him up im sure kiffin would know if he is pro material or not.
I'm looking for more than just "solid". If we're going to burn a high pick on a lineman for a scheme that doesn't require such a move, he needs to be far better than solid.

This scheme is built around veteran OLs and developmental OLs from later rounds. Dropping a 2 on an overhyped tackle just isn't necessary.

I think he would be a better pick for us then another DT for sure.
I disagree. Strongly.

We have a capable O-line who will only get better entering their 2nd year in a scheme that makes quality starters out of journeymen. The same cannot be said of our pathetic defensive line, where we have neither talent nor a good system to begin with.

I also wouldnt mind as for the players who are available in this draft at that spot is Caldwell from Florida from what i hear he is doing a good job at the senior bowl which if he is im sure he will rise in the board as well.

We probably will blow that pick on a WR. Hopefully, we'll sign a couple in FA before the draft so we don't have to go that route.

09) Cincinnati Bengals – Calais Campbell | Defensive End | Miami (FL)
10) New Orleans Saints – Antoine Cason | Cornerback | Arizona
19) Philadelphia Eagles – Leodis McKelvin | Cornerback | Troy
31) New York Giants – Ray Rice | Running Back | Rutgers

Bengals taking a DE that high with the Need at LB, S i really cant see that happening IMO

Saints taking Cason above McKelvin & Talib, Cason is sliping in to 2nd round thought not top 10 IMO

Eagles taking a CB when there Safety of the future in KP is still on the board he maybe even be able to play S, maybe even replace Considine i cant see it happening IMO

Gaints what do they need 3-4 string running back for? IMO
