Which one dominated?
Which one was more addicting?
Which one was more awesome?

N64 - 007 Golden, Mario 64, Mario Tennis, basically all the marios, Zelda, Gauntlet Legends, Super Smash Brothers, Star Fox 64, Pokemon games, Turok, Kirby, WCW Revenge, WWF Wrestle Mainia 2000, PaperBoy, Ready 2 Rumble, NBA JAM, Mega Man 64, Harvest Moon, Quake, some of these may have been on the ps1 but its more awesome on the 64

N64 > PS1

this isn't even close, the only game that i wanted on a PS was Bushdo Blade and even that was only decent

Mario Kart 64, Super Smash Brothers, Super Mario 64, Golden Eye, Turok, The Zelda games, & Starfox, basically all made by nintendo and all classics

Mario Kart 64 makes n64 better by a ton. Even to this day, nothing beats a 4-person race in which the 3 losers must take a shot. Easiest way ever to get people to drink 15 shots in an hour

goldeneye, mario kart, wrestlemania 2000, super smash bros, the list goes on...basically if N64 was internet accessible, it would blow all next gens outta the water :D

I guess I'd have to go with the N64, it had a ton of epic games.

However, I loved both of them, as they both had a lot of awesome games.

The PS1 had games like Syphon Filter, Metal Gear Solid, Crash Bandicoot, Silent Hill, Wipeout, Resident Evil 2, Grand Turismo 2 and of course, one of the best games ever..Final Fantasy VII.

So, they both had a ton of great games, but again, N64 just constantly had more, and better games.

actually i have considered this, on a lot of emulators there is a way to play over the internet, goldeneye would be insane if someone could figure out how this worked

Better games? I'd say 64. Goldeneye and Ocarina of time were absolute classics.
Changed the world of gaming? PS1. Notice how all game systems use disks now.
Dominated? In what sense, exactly?
Addicting? Probably N64. 4-player support without a multitap, and no memory card for most games.
More awesome? N64.

plus N64 brought in the use of the joystick and basically started multiplayer, I'd say it had more of an impact on gaming IMO

Yeah, but those sega systems were massive flops. Obviously, when game developers began using discs, they weren't emulating those.

Although I never thought about your second point, it is a valid one.

One thing though, PS1 DID start the trend towards video game consoles doubling as entertainment systems. PS1 played CDs, and it's just built from there.

N64 is a great machine with great games no questions. But I have to go with the PS1. There were some revolutionary and influential titles on the PS. MGS brought a whole new style of gaming, there was nothing like FF7's cinematics and RPG game play at the time, Gran Turismo attention to detail was truly influential, Pappa the Rappa was just plain fun and set a foundation for future rhythm based games and Lara Craft had giant boobs.

Plus a game nobody ever talks about Parasite Eve was one of my favorite games of all time.

i nvr like Turoq it got boring and gave me a headace, but N64 all the way. Dreamcast though was pretty good could have beat both of them, but it was kind of ahead of its time, thats usual with sega, comming out with Sega cd and genisis.

I'm split.

N64: Starfox, Super Smash Brothers, Ken Griffey Baseball, NFL QB Club 98, NHL 2000, WCW vs NWO, WCW vs THE WORLD, etc.

PS1: Syphon Filter, Final Fantasy Series, Legend of Legaia, Parasite Eve, Breath of Fire III, Xenogears, Mega Man series, Grand Theft Auto, Gran Turismo 2, Chrono Cross, Tekken 3, Tony Hawks Pro Skater, Dave Mirra BMX, Castlevania: Symphony of the night, Resident Evil Series, Silent Hill series, Metal Gear Solid, etc.

I think I'm going to have to go with PS1 for Games.

N64 had quite a few addictive games like Smash brothers, WCW vs the World, Mario Party, Mario RPG, the Zelda Series..

But I'm a huge RPG Buff and honestly the PS1 had the better roleplaying games and better storylined games..

Resident Evil series, Final Fantasy Series, Chrono Trigger games..

N64 was the better multiplayer system

Well, I think the Dreamcast certainly deserves honorable mentions, they had some amazing games.

The Adventues of Sonic the Hedgehog was amazing. The way you could play as various characters was incredibly unique.

However, the game I truly loved for the Dreamcast was none other then Shenmue. That had to have easily been one of the best games I've ever played. The way it balanced the fight scenes with the story was epic.

Plus, there were a ton of fun mini-games you could partake in.

So yeah, the Dreamcast deserves some props.

i went N64 for its overall games P.Dark,S.Bros,G.Eye,Fifa,Mario,Zelda
also i would have to agree with the guy above Dreamcast was a better system
Nintendo kill everything untill PS2 came out, senice then song been the top dog

Wasn't Mystical Ninja a SNES Game? It was cool but the music score for a game that long should have consisted more than 4 scores.

But the minigames in that were addicting.

Ps1's truly great, defining game was FF7, and as great as that was the big N has all the marios, and zeldas which is reason enough to believe the N64 is better then the playstation, although ill say the psone had the better system. haha kinda like the wii and ps3 now, ps3 is the better all around system, but lacks ANY truly great games. both the 360 and Wii have multiple amazing games that will always be remebered. PS3 had MGS4 lined up, but are praying that it wont go multi platform oonce the system exclusive deal with konami is up, which is rumored to be only eight months after it arrives for the ps3.

whoa, no way does diddy kong racing beat mario kart 64. Diddy kong was great, Mario kart 64 was epic.

I dare you to think of three reasons why Mario Kart was better, you can't.

Diddy Kong was better in:

Graphics
Soundtrack (I can still close my eyes and listen to that intro tune)
Storyline
Character selection (gotta love Tip-Tup)
Multi-player
Choice of options

The storyline is really what set it apart. Mario Kart was a fun racing/multiplayer game, but Diddy Kong was it's own little epic adventure.

The sheer amount of generation defining games for the N64 make this a landslide for Nintendo. Gamecube admittedly almost sunk the company, but N64 was the pinnacle of greatness for Nintendo. You had Diddy Kong racing as well as MarioKart 64, both epic games. You all the wrestling games, Mario 64, Gauntlet Legends (amazing game to go through on multiplayer), Turok, Starfox. You had Perfect Dark which was great for sure, but no game since Super Mario Bros. could measure up to 007 GoldenEye in terms of how epic it was and only Halo can reach that level since then.

GoldenEye was epic of epic. Super Mario Bros was the Jim Brown of games, GoldenEye was Jerry Rice/Joe Montana.
