View Full Version : 1st mock this year & a long time (maybe I'll add 2 rounds) w/short explanations

Be easy on the bashing. Just a quick one. As you'll see, I'm not a huge mock drafter.

t - tie, coin flip

1. Miami Dolphins - Chris Long, DE, Virginia
To me the best defensive player in the draft. Would give their D more elements then Dorsey IMO.

2. St. Luois Rams - Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU
La'Roi Glovers old, so is Little, & they showed their stance on defense the last couple of years.

t3. Atlanta Falcons - Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College
Gonna need a franchise player to lead a weak offense for the future. Plus his characters ver good.

t4. Oakland Raiders - Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas
Why not give your #1 pick QB a weapon as hyped as Run DMC?

t5. Kansas City Chiefs - Jake Long, OT, Michigan
Their O-Line took a huge lost once Willie Roaf retired.

6. New York Jets - Vernon Gholston, DE/OLB, Oho State
Need a legitamete pass rusher to help solidify Mangini's 3-4 defense.

7. New England Patriots (f/SF) - Mike Jenkins, CB, USF
Asante's a FA, and their going to give over a forkload to Randy. Can't see them paying 2 guys premium $ in one off-season.

8. Baltimore Ravens - Derrick Harvey, DE/OLB, Florida
I'd say they miss Adalius Thomas.

9. Cincinatti Bengals - Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC
Need a impact defensive player at any position.

10. New Orleans Saints - Keith Rivers, LB, USC
They need a Ernie Sims type LB.

11. Buffalo Bills - Malcolm Kelly, WR, Oklahoma
Who's ever at QB, they need help besides Marshawn and Evans.

12. Denver Broncos - Kenny Phillips, S, Miami (FL)
Never liked their Safety's.

13. Carolina Panthers - Ryan Clady, OT, Boise St.
Again, who's ever at QB wil need some protection.

14. Chicago Bears - Brian Brohm, QB, Louisville
Pretty obvious choice here, IMO.

15. Detroit Lions - Chris Williams, OT, Vanderbilt
They traded for Foster last year, and Kitna stil got crushed.

16. Arizona Cardinals - Leodis McKlevin, CB, Troy
With a safety here being a stretch. I see them drafting the next Dante Hall or Devin Hester.

17. Minnesota Vikings - Calais Campbell, DE, Miami (FL)
Their pass defense is horrible by the numbers, and their D-Line isn't really a great pass rushing front.

18. Houston Texans - Jonathan Stewart, RB, Oregon
Ron Dayne, Ahman Green, and Darius Walker? LOL IMO.

19. Philadelphia Eagles - Limas Sweed, WR, Texas
Need a impact WR for McNabb. Something he hasn't had since T.O.

20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - DeSean Jackson, WR, Cal
Besides Joey who else is there?

21. Washington Redskins - Phillip Merling, DE, Clemson
They have a pretty good secondary, LB'ers, and offense, but besides big Andre Carter they have no impact D-Lineman.

22. Dallas Cowboys (f/CLE) - Kentwan Balmer, DT/DE, North Carolina
Will only help a already pretty good front 7.

23. Pittsburgh Steelers - Jeff Otah, OT, Pittsburgh
Fanaca wanted off last year, plus their OT's are pedestrian.

24. Tennesse Titans - Mario Manningham, WR, Michigan
Need a impact WR for #10.

25. Seattle Seahawks - Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Illinois
With the 2 best RB's off the board and Shaun's age, they find a excellent pick here.

26. Jacksonville Jaguars - Devin Thomas, WR, Michigan St.
Won't be a All-Pro WR. But will definitely help the group.

27. San Diego Chargers - Reggie Smith, S, Oklahoma
One reason A.D. ran all over them, Marlon McCree.

28. Dallas Cowboys - Jamaal Charles, RB, Texas
Julius Jones wasn't anything special last year, plus he's a FA. They need a change of pace back for Marion the Barbarion.

29. San Francisco 49ers (f/IND) - Adarius Bowman, WR, Oklahoma St.
To me Doucet's a stretch here. Plus Bowman's showed previously he can put up huge numbers.

30. Green Bay Packers - Aqib Talib, CB, Kansas
Lets see, Woodson, Harris, and who?

31. New York Giants - Philip Wheeler, LB, Georgia Tech
Too me he'll be a better pro then Linebacker U's Dan Connor.

I'm a big noob when it come to this. Just for fun.

Good Houston pick, Ravens take Leodis McKlevin.
Arizona doesn't need or want the next "Dante Hall" they are really satisfied with Steve Breatson as their return man.

pretty obvious for the bears? not obvious at all actually.....theres 3 good positions for them to look at there and maybe 6 ifyou stretch it a little.

given teh way the draft shook up, id rather them go with otah or williams, or one of the RB's

No way Bowman makes it into the 1st.

02-04-2008, 07:50 PM
People, the Jaugars do not need a receiver!

02-04-2008, 08:12 PM
Great Cardinals pick, but I think the Cards would rather have Steve Breaston returning kicks since that's what they primarily drafted him for.

good chargers pick.

10. New Orleans Saints - Keith Rivers, LB, USC
They need a Ernie Sims type LB.Wrong, we need ANY LB.

Great Raiders pick

02-04-2008, 10:00 PM
DRC or Tracey Porter would be much better in that situation. Also, the Giants have the 32nd pick. =D

02-04-2008, 10:29 PM
The next Dante Hall/Devin Hester?

Are you referring to Steve Breaston our current kick returner? because McKlevin doesn't have near the skills that Steve does, good pick as far as a need at CB but weird explanation
