View Full Version : T2oon (okay that's cheesy) - only 2 so far, will do three tomorrow

t24l and toonsterwu mock. T24L has odds, toonsterwu has evens. I think I need to be odd the next mock I do with someone. Rehashing a lot of picks, and as such, short explanations (and it's been a long weekend).

1. Miami Dolphins – OLB Chris Long, Virginia
2. St. Louis Rams – DE Vernon Gholston, the Ohio State

Too close to my last mock to have any change in thoughts. He might not be valued here right now, but if he's close, I think the makes the most sense. They can find an OL talent in the 2nd round that fits.

3. Atlanta Falcons – DT Sedrick Ellis, USC
4. Oakland Raiders – DT Glenn Dorsey, LSU

Somewhat biting on the Fargas resigning, although I can still see Davis ordering a McSandwich (okay cheesy again).

5. Kansas City Chiefs – OT Jake Long, Michigan
6. New York Jets – DL Phillip Merling, Clemson

Is this a sterling move? Merling might be sterling for the Jets depending on his weigh in.

7. New England Patriots – RB Darren McFadden, Arkansas
8. Baltimore Ravens – QB Matt Ryan, Boston College

Ice is always best served first. Top 5 value here and at a needed position? Money in the bank.

9. Cincinnati Bengals – LB Keith Rivers, USC
10. New Orleans Saints – CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Tennessee State

Can DRC arc his way up? Sorry, no cheesy line here, as it's hard to think of one. Anyhow, same thoughts as last mock.

11. Buffalo Bills – WR Malcolm Kelly, Oklahoma
12. Denver Broncos – OT Ryan Clady, Boise State

Bleh ... I give up on cheesy lines unless something pops up. Too good to pass here.

13. Carolina Panthers – S Kenny Phillips, the U
14. Chicago Bears – OT Chris Williams, Vanderbilt

The only caveat I make against going QB in the first, as of now, is if there’s a quality OT available.

15. Detroit Lions – RB Jonathan Stewart, Oregon
16. Arizona Cardinals – RB Rashard Mendenhall, Illinois

Same reason as before. I think the value is too good to pass up here, and I think solid CB value can be found in the 2nd.

17. Minnesota Vikings – DE Calais Campbell, the U
18. Houston Texans – DB Mike Jenkins, South Florida

Same reason as before. his size could make him more tantalizing due to the versatility it might offer.

19. Philadelphia Eagles – CB Leodis McKelvin, Troy
20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – WR Mario Manningham, Michigan

I want to be sold not to make this pick. I don’t like Manningham. That said, I think he still makes too much sense as someone able to step in right away and offer help.

21. Washington Redskins – CB Patrick Lee, Auburn
22. Dallas Cowboys f/ Cleveland Browns – CB Aqib Talib, Kansas

Long, lengthy, good instincts. hard to pass here.

23. Pittsburgh Steelers – OT Gosder Cherilus, Boston College
24. Tennessee Titans – DE Derrick Harvey, Florida

They once picked up another falling Florida stud at end. Harvey may grade out better than the freak coming out.

25. Seattle Seahawks – OL Branden Albert, Virginia
26. Jacksonville Jaguars – WR Devin Thomas, Michigan State

Still don't like this pick and still don't buy Jackson here.

27. San Diego Chargers – DB Reggie Smith, Oklahoma
28. Dallas Cowboys – OL Jeff Otah, Pittsburgh

Value’s too good to pass up here.

29. San Francisco 49ers f/ Indianapolis Colts – DL Kentwan Balmer, UNC
30. Green Bay Packers – LB Dan Connor, Penn State

Don't want to do this. Sell me on something else. Didn't like the CB options.

31. New England Patriots - forfeited
32. New York Giants – OL Carl Nicks, Nebraska

Same reason as before.

2nd round

33. Miami Dolphins – DL Pat Sims, Auburn
34. St. Louis Rams – WR Limas Sweed, Texas

Might the Rams be crowing Sweet Sweed based on value?

35. Oakland Raiders – RB Felix Jones, Arkansas
36. Kansas City Chiefs – CB Brandon Flowers, Virginia Tech

Seems like a fit, provided off-field doesn't impact.

37. New York Jets – OLB Quentin Groves, Auburn
38. Atlanta Falcons – QB Chad Henne, Michigan

I want to go with value, but somehow not sold Flacco is someone Dimitroff would take.

39. Baltimore Ravens – CB Tracy Porter, Indiana
40. San Francisco 49ers – WR Desean Jackson, California

Seems like a Martz fit.
41. New Orleans Saints – LB Erin Henderson, Maryland
42. Buffalo Bills – LB Jerod Mayo, Tennessee

Not liking my options here. Mayo could be in the middle, or fit on the weakside.

43. Denver Broncos – DT Marcus Harrison, Arkansas
44. Carolina Panthers – OT Sam Baker, USC

Was tantalized by some other thoughts, then decided that Wharton might not be a lock at LT and Baker might be too good to pass up here.

45. Chicago Bears – QB Brian Brohm, Louisville
46. Detroit Lions – DT Trevor Laws, Notre Dame

Same reasons as before. could be the dominant interior piece they need.

47. Cincinnati Bengals – DT Red Bryant, Texas A&M
48. Minnesota Vikings – WR Early Doucet, LSU

Too good to pass up. His ability to block could be huge.

49. Atlanta Falcons – OT Anthony Collins, Kansas
50. Philadelphia Eagles – S DaJuan Morgan, NC State

Same DB's as before. Same reasons as before. They do need safety help. Big, physical, with range. Nice potential fit.

51. Arizona Cardinals – DB Charles Godfrey, Iowa
52. Washington Redskins – DE Lawrence Jackson, USC

Same reasons as before. 2-way end that could work well for Blache.

53. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – CB Trae Williams, South Florida
54. Pittsburgh Steelers – DL Dre’ Moore, Maryland

Tempted with Wr, but with Moore on the board, I think he's quite tantalizing here, offering a DL talent that is versatile.

55. Tennessee Titans – TE Fred Davis, USC
56. Seattle Seahawks – TE John Carlson, Notre Dame

Ability to block and receives makes him a valued asset to help reinvigorate the run game and stretch the seams.

57. Cleveland Browns – LB Tavares Gooden, the U
58. Miami Dolphins f/ San Diego Chargers – QB Joe Flacco, Delaware

Potential first round talent down here is too good to pass despite some other intriguing options.

59. Jacksonville Jaguars – DL DeMario Pressley, NC State
60. Indianapolis Colts – DT Letroy Guion, Florida

First big change in thought. I just think they could still use impact DL talent, particularly in the interior. While OL talent or a TE may be tempting, Guion has the potential to be a dominant interior player for the scheme.

61. Green Bay Packers – S Craig Steltz, LSU
62. Dallas Cowboys – NT Ahtyba Rubin, Iowa State

Didn't go into it expecting to draft a NT, but decided he was too good to pass up here despite Ratliff's contract and the presence of Tank. Rubin would potentially give them a Jamal Williams type anchor.

63. New England Patriots -

crap, apologies. I forgot what T24L's pick was here. I thought I wrote it down, but eh.

64. New York Giants – LB Phillip Wheeler, Georgia Tech

I looked CB and S first. But I can’t overlook the immensely good LB value. Wheeler could be an excellent fit for Spagnuolo, particularly if he can maintain his athleticism at the 240ish weight.

Perfect selection for the Chargers although Otah would be extremely intriguing.

again, a very good giants draft

i might shock some people and say that DeSean Jackson would also be a good pick in the 1st

Not liking the Nicks selection with Sims, Harrison, Henderson, Porter, and Mayo availble.

seems like quite the stretch to take lee that early.

I like the packer draft.
Steltz is a personal fave, but i would rather have a CB in either the first or second. Flowers would be a bit of a reach but I like him

Suffice to say I'll be surprised if the Colts draft Guion. Very surprised.

Eww at Trae Williams in the 2nd.

I am going to question T24L's 2nd round pick for the Steelers. Any O-line pick in Round 1, sweet. And DL is a place we need depth, but not starters (as a 2nd round pick likely could bring in). Though I do feel the value, we do have those holes at WR, O-line, secondary, so I feel like one needs addressed in the 2nd.

Not a fan of the Bucs pick. Dont like Manningham, and Trae WIlliams is a huge reach in the second.

I like the 2nd, the first was alright but id prefer Brandon Flowers, Pat Sims, and Tracy Porter in that order.

Great Bears draft. I highly doubt Brohm falls to the second but if he does and the Bears get him i'd cry with happiness.

1.) Malcolm Kelly - Good Pick
2.) Jerod Mayo - I like Philip Wheeler a lot more. I'd rather go with him here.

Ok phins draft.

Not very happy with the Sims pick though. That seems to be a little too high for him right now, and I'm not a big fan of his anyway.

Better options would be: DeSean Jackson (not sure how he fell that far, but I'll take it), Marcus Harrison, Sam Baker, John Carlson, or Fred Davis.

I like the Connor pick considering what was available, but the second rounder was bad. First of all if we pass on a corner in the first we have to take one in round 2. Also as I have expressed in other threads I don't think a second round safety is much of a help to us, and I really don't think it's a realistic pick.

I like both NYG picks, however with the quality on the board in the 1st it would be nice to see a trade down. Good job on the picks though, as I said both are good fits for the Giants.

I don't see any way the Cardinals pass on both Mike Jenkins and Leodis McKelvin at 16. Corner is by far the Cards #1 need and RB is a luxury pick. I'm ok with Mendenhall only if the top corners are gone:Mckelvin, Jenkins, DRC, and Cason (but i have a different opinon on him than most).

DeSean Jackson in round 2? I'm sold.

Be honest... one or both of you forgot he was on the board, right? :P

Wow Otah at 28? Dont see it happening, dont you think the Steelers would prefer him? He's excellent value at 28, and Jackson in the 2nd? I he last to 22 we would take a good look.

I think that is good value for the bears for both picks. I'd be interested in the 2nd if Flacco and Brohm are available if they try to trade down say with the dolphins and take Flacco. Good stuff as always Toonster.
