View Full Version : Post combine Pre FA mock

02-26-2008, 10:27 PM
my first mock of the year, leave some comments !!
got a little tired doing second round so some things might not be perfect

1. Miami Dolphins- Chris Long, DE, Virginia
The Dolphins need to infuse some talent onto their defense line, a big weak spot on their team. Parcells drafting offense? I don't see it.

2. St. Louis Rams- Vernon Gholston, DE Ohio St.
Dorsey or Ellis is a consideration, but the Rams have some talent at the DT position rotation.

3. Atlanta Falcons - Matt Ryan QB Boston College
I think that Arthur Blank might have a lot of influence on this pick a la Tennessee with Vince Young a few years back. With the falcons picking third, they are paying a lot of money in this slot and it'd make financial sense on a QB.

4. Oakland Raiders - Glenn Dorsey DT LSU
The Raider's DT situation is a mess. Not anymore.

5. Kansas City Chiefs- Jake Long, OT, Michigan
Instant Offensive line help.

6. New York Jets- Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas
Thomas Jones will be 29 this year and was not anything special the previous year. This situation looks eerily similiar to Adrian Peterson.

7. New England Patriots (via SF) - Keith Rivers, ILB, USC

8. Baltimore Ravens - Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC
Ravens usually go best player available, and Kelly Gregg is getting older. Ngata and Ellis would compliment each other great and would enormous potential.

9. Cincinnati Bengals - Derrick Harvey DE Florida
A dynamic passrusher would really help their young corners.

10. New Orleans Saints - Leodis McKelvin CB Troy
Jason David just has not cut it as a #2 cornerback. He is a young player and hopefully he will work out at in nickel and dime packages. Leodis can step in across McKenzie and eventually be McKenzie's future replacement.

11. Buffalo Bills - Dan Connor WLB Penn St.
The Bills loved Poz before he got injured. They get a healty version of Poz at WLB.

12. Denver Broncos- Ryan Clady OT Boise St.
The Broncos could go a number of directions here, but go with a tackle that fits their scheme well.

13. Carolina Panthers - Chris Williams LT Vanderbilt

14. Chicago Bears - Brian Brohm, QB, Louisville

15. Detroit Lions - Mike Jenkins CB USF
I don't see many starting quality corners on their roster, do you Millen?

16. Arizona Cardinals - Jeff Otah OT Pittsburgh
This team is getting serious about rebuilding that offensive line. Grimm could mold Otah into something special.

17. Minnesota Vikings - Quentin Groves DE Auburn
Groves would be a great end to get as much pressure on the QB as possible.

18. Houston Texans - Reshard Mendenhall, RB, Illinois
Mendenhall would take the Texans running game to a whole nother level.

19. Philadelphia Eagles - Kenny Philips, S, Miami (Fl)
Dawkins will turn 35 this year and could be eyeing retirement soon. Philips can play opposite Dawkins early in his career and eventually be his future replacement.

20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Calais Campbell DE Miami
Gaines Adams and Campbell would make an elite DE duo.

21. Washington Redskins - Limas Sweed WR Texas
A big wide receiver that would complement Randle El and Moss well with Brandon Lloyd gone. Sweed answered all questions at his combine with his 4.4 speed.

22. Dallas Cowboys (via CLE)- Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie CB Tenn. St.

23. Pittsburgh Steelers - Brandon Albert OG Virginia

24. Tennessee Titans - Malcolm Kelly WR Oklahoma

25. Seattle Seahawks - Jonathan Stewart RB Oregon
The Seahawks running game needs a power runner.

26. Jacksonville Jaguars - Philip Merling DE Clemson

27. San Diego Chargers- Reggie Smith, FS/CB, Oklahoma

28. Dallas Cowboys - Desean Jackson WR California

29. San Francisco 49ers - Kentwan Balmer DT North Carolina

30. Green Bay Packers - Antoine Cason CB Arizona

31. New York Giants - Shawn Crable SLB Michigan

2nd Round

33) Miami Dolphins - Gosder Cherilus OT Boston College

34) St. Louis Rams - Carl Nicks OL Nebraska

35) Atlanta Falcons - Sam Baker LT USC

36) Kansas City Chiefs - Brandon Flowers CB Virginia Tech

37) New York Jets - James Hardy WR Indiana

38) Oakland Raiders - Devin Thomas WR Michigan St.

39) Baltimore Ravens - Joe Flacco QB Delaware

40) San Fran 49’ers- Early Doucet WR LSU

41) New Orleans Saints - Pat Sims DT Auburn

42) Buffalo Bills - Aqib Talib CB Kansas

43) Denver Broncos - Trevor Laws DT Notre Dame

44) Carolina Panthers - Dajuan Morgan FS NC St.

45) Chicago Bears - Heath Benedict OT Newberry

46) Detroit Lions- Dustin Keller TE Purdue

47) Cincinnati Bengals - Fred Davis TE USC

48) Minnesota Vikings - Andre Caldwell WR Florida

49) Atlanta Falcons (f/Hou) - Felix Jones RB Arkansas

50) Philadelphia Eagles - Mario Manningham WR Michigan

54) Pittsburgh Steelers - Tracy Porter CB Indiana

55) Tennessee Titans - Justin King CB Penn St.

56) Seattle Seahawks - John Carlson TE Notre Dame

57) Cleveland Browns-- Chris Johnson, RB, East Carolina

58) Miami Dolphins (f/SD)- Philip Wheeler ILB Georgia Tech

59) Jacksonville Jaguars- Patrick Lee CB Auburn

63) New England Patriots - Terrell Thomas CB USC

64) New York Giants - Craig Steltz SS LSU

That's a pretty nice Phins draft. I would prefer Nicks, Devin Thomas, or Flacco over Cherilus though.

Good 1st for Baltimore, give us Aqib Talib is the 2nd.
Good Houston pick, although they would have to think extremely hard about passing on Kenny Phillips.

02-26-2008, 10:50 PM
that Rams draft would be an A+ if you gave us Sam Baker instead of Nicks

Not a good Giants draft. I personally don't like either pick. Off the top of my head Laws, Morgan, Porter, Sims, and Talib would be much better picks in the first.

02-26-2008, 11:02 PM
Smith is a great fit for San Diego, great job.

02-27-2008, 08:14 AM
Not a big fan of taking Connor at 11.
I'd rather go with Malcolm Kelly there.
Great 2nd rounder though :)

02-27-2008, 08:20 AM
Good Pats Draft, but you know Rivers isn't the best pick there.

02-27-2008, 08:31 AM
Yea thats easily one of the worst Giants draft I've ever seen.

02-27-2008, 09:32 AM
I could accept Green Bay's mock

02-27-2008, 09:47 AM
Nice pick for Indy. They get the best OG available to replace Jake Scott, and then later on in the draft we can address the DL, RB, and WR positions.

02-27-2008, 09:58 AM
sweed works for now but once FA gets rolling i think youll be changing that pick.

jackson in rd 2 is awesome.

Two reaches for the Vikings.

I know Phillips has fallen but he would be our pick over Groves.

As for the second round if we go Phillips in the first we pick Lawrence Jackson.

02-27-2008, 10:43 AM
31. New York Giants - Shawn Crable SLB Michigan

36) Kansas City Chiefs - Brandon Flowers CB Virginia Tech

Both are reaches. The giants pick is absolutely horrible in the first. Crable is a third round guy. Flowers is mid to late second IMO, and i like him the most out of any player in the draft. Give us flowers at least

64) New York Giants - Craig Steltz SS LSU
Really Bad. He's not impressive and there are many other Safeties that we would take over him.

02-27-2008, 10:49 AM
KC would never pass on Talib in RD 2 especially for Flowers who has character issues

02-27-2008, 10:50 AM
nice sd pick.

02-27-2008, 04:26 PM
Cason over Talib? No way.

02-27-2008, 08:31 PM
pretty bad giants draft- original- but bad.
Crable 1st round is a massive reach- hes a late 2nd rounder
id rather have brandon flowers or tracy porter 1st round

02-27-2008, 10:35 PM
heath benedict? really?

i dont feel like whipping out my brohm speech right now but just know hes not going to the bears at 14.....

but benedict in 2? i think thats a little high...we need someone who can jump into RT from day 1 an i just dont know if thats him coming from his small school background.

02-27-2008, 11:20 PM
I would love for the redskins first 2 picks to go like that.

02-27-2008, 11:25 PM
good Oakland draft.

02-28-2008, 01:28 PM
Great picks for the Vikings. I'm starting to like the idea of Groves in case Harvey is gone.

02-29-2008, 12:08 PM
Devin Thomas I like that. Great size gonna be a great.

02-29-2008, 01:15 PM
Good Steelers draft...but i would prefer Brandon Flowers and Chilo Rachal if it panned out like that.

02-29-2008, 01:17 PM
Pretty solid mock overall. Good chargers pick. Smith is a great fit and gives us the option of using him and Paul Oliver at NCB or S.

02-29-2008, 06:12 PM
Green Bay will go CB in the first but Talib & Flowers will both go before Cason. Henderson is a great pick in the second though.

03-01-2008, 01:21 PM
i think the Giants' fans have the most legitimate beef with this mock. thanks for the comments guys, i'll put out another one once FA winds down.
