Tried not to overreact too much to the combine, but my value board has changed pretty drastically. In some cases it's probably more controversial for who I'm not dropping (Desean Jackson for example). Anyway...this is just the first two rounds, I'll probably kick out the next two by this evening.

good ravens picks. I would like a CB but there arent any worth the #8 overall pick and Im not to high on Flowers in the 2nd round.

I should also add that I have a pretty clear idea of which fans will not like this draft. I'll save it to myself and see if I'm correct however.

id be happy with lawrence jackson in rd 2. sweed in rd1 is ok for now but odds are we add a wr in fa or through a trade. in which case we should look at a cb or albert in rd 1.

Given what's left, I can't really complain about the Jets' first pick. He's probably the most talented player left on the board, or amongst them, and that'll do. At least we'll have a terrific CB duo for the future. Can't say I'd be pleased if that's how that draft came down, though. As for the second pick, while he seems nice and athletic, I don't know if he's quite as talented as the combine numbers would indicate, and that sort of seems high for him IMO. Combine or not, I'd much rather have Cherilus if he's still available, shoring up that RT spot for years to come.

Good Raiders draft. Campbell in the second is more than worth the gamble. Two first round calibur talents on the first day aint too shabby.

Yes that's clearly worst case scenario for the Jets, but it could certainly work out that way.

It was actually between him and Matt Ryan, but I'm not sure that Mangini would want to pull the plug on Clemens so soon (nor am I fully convinced that he's that much of an upgrade).

I thought you were a Seahawks fan though?

Nah. I don't have a problem with them, probably by third most liked team, but I've always liked the Jets the most. I used to live in Seattle and have for like 15 years though, so with all the exposure to them, I figured I was qualified to talk about them a lot. If you want my opinion on the Seahawks though, Nicks isn't a franchise LT, and they re-signed Locklear to be their guy on the right side, so you'd be better off giving them Albert to play Guard. Either that or potentially a TE if they were to get Felix in the 2nd.

bearsfan_51
02-27-2008, 04:23 PM
I'm aware of the Hawks situation, but I'm of the opinion that Nicks can play on the left side. In the interim I think he'd be a very good right guard for them, and really solidify their line.

I like it. DL is not a huge need now since Sopoaga re-signed, but we should still pick up a DL in the draft.

I think Groves and Royal give us the best bang for our buck. Gives us a pass rush and a legit WR. Who do you have in mind for the 49ers next 2 picks, bf51? I'd like it if the 49ers could draft a OT and a DE/NT for the 3-4, provided theres one at the pick.

02-27-2008, 05:01 PM
Rather have Carlson than Red Bryant, then we could take a NT like Okam in the 3rd or 4th. Other than than, it's a good Phins mock.

Johnson & Jones >>> Rice, either of them would provide a great compliment to Edge and we have a great work out program so they can stop being so scrawny

that would be a perfect first 2 rounds then

I gotta say, Im impressed with the Bills draft. Kieth Rivers coming in to shore up a great young LB core, and a cover 2, zone corner like Brandon Flowers would be perfect for Buffalo.

I also do like Shawn Crable to the Pats too. I dont think they could have done much worse with that pick. McKelvin is an intersting pick, although Im not so sure tht they would go with him at that point, but still not too bad.

I love both Buccaneer picks.
That's interesting because of all the teams I expected the Niners and Bucs fans to dislike their picks (particularly Eddie Royal and Jackson respectively). My thinking on Jackson is pretty simple.

His height is going to turn some people off based on knee-jerk reactions alone. It's not commone that a sub 5'10 receiver goes in the 1st round, and I think convential wisdom has him dropping hard (in fact I don't think Scott even has him in the 2nd round unless I missed it).

I personally don't think it matters at all if Jackson is shorter. His game has nothing to do with height and never has (obviously, since it's not like he shrunk or anything). It's about great speed, the ability to play in space, and return ability.

When I look at Jackson I see Steve Smith. I'm pretty sure there are a lot of teams that would take Steve Smith in the first round now. Height and all. And I think if there is someone with the cajones to make a move like that, it's Jon Gruden.

I'd be happy if that went down for the Falcons. From what I'm hearing though, Dorsey is more likely then Ellis.

Dam8610
02-27-2008, 09:45 PM
I'd honestly rather have Dustin Keller than Jerod Mayo, because backup MLB (maybe backup OLB?) is not even as big of a need for the Colts as #2 TE. Schuening is also a very bad Colts pick based on need. I'd say DeMario Pressley and Darrell Robertson would be the best Colts draft at this point based on the players available at their two respective picks.

LonghornsLegend
02-27-2008, 10:12 PM
You pretty much nailed the first 3 picks for Dallas, I dont even think Jerry could conjure up something that sexy...Cason is a stud, I told people he had the hips and instincts to be a stud and his shuttle time was faster then the likes of McKelvin and Talib, He can play in a man to man scheme and certainly could be a playmaker with us.

Devin Thomas is another guy im high on, one being that he fits the mold of TO and could benefit greatly from playing beside him, and he has the tools to be a #1 when TO leaves, thus thats the only wr im interested in, is somebody who can take over once TO is gone.

Chris Johnson is the 2nd makes me want to make love to that pick, honestly though I feel like his stock is going to make him go before that point just because of his time, maybe he could last but ive heard he is going to have a westbrook type role in whichever offense he goes to, im starting to think we might have to take him at 28 if we want him, but none the less I want him more then any other rb this draft.

I really dont know much about campbell, so ill take your word since you got the rest of our fits to the T, in the 3rd id take a DE, NT, or safety, either pos would be fine, and I wouldnt mind looking to see which position has the best value there.

I wouldn't mind this Lions mock at all. I think if they draft an OT its going be a RT mold. I don't see Backus moving. Realistically I see the Lions drafting a CB in the first three rounds. I would be shocked if they didn't.

Both Packers draft and AZ draft solid, though I hope the Packers skip a day 1 RB. I'd much rather have Dustin Keller or Josh Barret in R2 then address OLB in R3. The 6-3, 230# Barret, with his Combine run of 4.35) and the 6-4, 225# Rouse (who ran a sub-4.40 at his pro day) would be a physically nasty combo. Those two guys are LB size for some teams. That's be like running a 4-7: 4 DL and 7 LBs... That they're both fast is the huge difference and Rouse had two picks hen he came in for Collins last year.

I was surprised to see DRC so high on your mock, but then again, that kid blew up the combine.

im curious to know your reasoning behind the chargers draft pick?

One part value, one part need (the Chargers are ok on the offensive line, but could use some depth and competition). Obviously I think they'll trade down, but in lieu of that I think the lines are the most likely area of need.

Are you high? The Vikings ignore their biggest need in round two and take Fred Davis over Lawrence Jackson? Maybe I just hate the pick because I think Fred Davis is an overated piece of **** but I doubt the Vikings fail to pick a DE with one of their first two picks. I am a fan of the other picks though, so overall good job.

wow...we got felix jones in the second half of the second round...not going to argue with that pick regardless of how I feel about the guy.

Carl Nicks I'm a little bit iffy on...I'm not quite sure if he is a first rounder but I can understand reaching for a OT when there really isn't any talent on the board that we'd jump for...we could probably even trade down and still get him.

Really like the Dustin Keller pick in the third. We need a receiving TE and even though he doesn't have the best height he has an amazing vertical and will be able to go up and get those balls. Plus he's a converted WR so I think that he fits perfectly into what the Seahawks are trying to do.

I like this draft overall :D
