Maybe Next Year Millen2

Robertson has an 8 million dollar base salary. He better restructure if he's coming here.

I don't like losing a 2nd though if that rumor is true.

That deal isn't a rumor. Its a pipe dream for Jets fans.

Good. That seemed awfully expensive for Vilma and a player who thus far has been an 8 million dollar bust.

Sorry, if we're taking back Dewayne Robertson in a deal we won't be giving a 2nd Round pick. He still has about $12 million left on his contract over the next two years and we'll still take the cap hit for getting rid of Rogers (about $7.5 million next year, I think). Robertson has essentially close to zero value in a trade, he'd just be a throw-in.

We save money overall by trading Rogers. Around 500 K I thinnk.

As hesitant as I am about Vilma, I'm glad to see him in Detroit. If he's healthy, he'll be a stud and the Vilma-Sims LB group will be great. If not, it'll go down as another Millen ****-up.

I hope he is.

Ill take my chances on Vilma... we all know what he is capable of doing if healthy and if he passes a physical by our doctors i would have to assume that. He could be a huge difference maker on the defense with Sims. That LB core would be amazing. With the signing of smith if we got Vilma thats two quality players weve added already to our defense. This allows us to go heavy on CBs and draft Rogers replacement along with a replacement for rogers (hopefully)

if we give up a second for a player with injury issues and a freakin' bust, I'm gonna be pretty pissed off.

I'd trade a 3rd for Vilma.. Let's do Rogers/3rd for Vilma/2nd

This trade needs to happen. I've got my hopes up now. I don't give a rat's ass about his knee problem. A one legged Vilma is three times the player that Paris Lenon wishes he could be.

Interesting news to hear. The one thing about Vilma, he has one year remaining on his rookie deal - he's a FA after this season. Assuming his knee checks out now, that is.

It can't be stated how much more suited Robertson is for a 4-3 defense, and I think he could be a very good starter for the Lions. A much better veteran presence to have than Rogers anyday.

His contract scares me...

Interesting... I don't get how a player can seek a trade but. Not like he is negotiating the deal or anything. But anyway...

Hopefully we can get him for a good price. Maybe Millen can get him for a good price since he has been on his way out of NY for a year now.

HA

Just trade a 3rd for him and move on..... let's do this! Hopefully his knee doesn't blow up.

best case scenario is we give a 3rd for him and then trade rogers for a 2nd. I dont really see that happenning and i think NY would rather just get rogers then a 3rd

Well this is interesting . . . our hopes and dreams are one step closer to reality.

His contract scares me...
According to rotoworld, his contract isn't as bad as I thought. We'd owe him $6.8 million this year and $4.5 million next year. The $6.8 million is a bit pricey, but because the Jets pickup the rest of his guaranteed money, we could cut him without penalty after this year if he busts.

That's outstanding. I kept hearing "$11 million"... didn't even want to touch him.

Speaking of outstanding, if we can leave Free Agency with Vilma, Kelly and (most of) our draft picks, we'll be in great shape.

from pft :

MENAGE-A-TRADE IN THE WORKS?

As the 2008 league year quickly approaches, there's talk of a possible three-way trade.

We're told that the Jets, Lions, and Broncos are talking about a deal that would send Detroit defensive tackle Shaun Rogers to New York, Jets defensive tackle Dewayne Robertson to the Broncos, and Denver cornerback Dominique Foxworth and a second-round pick to the Lions.

The Lions also are looking at a trade for Jets linebacker Jonathan Vilma.

This would be a good deal for the Lions if it is true.

Wait so Foxworth can be traded? I know he's a restricted free agent.

I like the 2nd round pick....but foxworth would be almost useless because he doesn't fit the system.

If his contract is not as big as said earlier I'd be willing to give Robertson a look in the 4-3

Very nice.. I assume that'd be the Jets' Round 2 pick, which is quite sexy.. It's #36 Overall.

So... do people want Robertson or not? If he works in the 4-3 and comes cheap because he is on the outs [just like Vilma], that'd be fine. But I do not want him to be the center piece of the deal. I want the Jets to go "Hey, we're gonna cut him anyway so let's just throw him in".

He is going to the NO Saints for a conditional pick. Just read the link on Rivals.com message boards. DAMN!
