the eagles released javon kearse today

could we sign him to perhaps a one year incentive based contract? I'm not sure how much he has left, but he would definetly be a lot better than kalimba

As cool as having "the freak" would be, I bet we go after DE Greg Spires who was released by the Bucs yesterday. Spires is no star but he's exactly the type of rotational DE we could get for cheap and still be moderately effective.

Or the DE White from TB as well. We are gonna raid the Bucs like the Broncos raided the Browns.

I don't like how that worked out.

New name for Detroit if all that happens withWhite/Spires,McFarland plus Smith/DeWayne: Tampa 2

Rod took it literally that the Tampa 2, means having Tampa players

ill be disapointed if we continuosly just take tampa's old players that they dont even want. WE want to build a team not put together a defense thats close to collecting social security

Let's rename it the Detroit 2.

Nah you have to be good at running it to get it named after you.

I like the Detroit Deuce though.

I can hear it now. "Here comes the Lions... laying the Detroit deuce out there on the field."

as long as we do not overpay him im fine with him signing with the Lions

I'd take the freak, but i agree I think Spires would be a more efective signing.

Also, I bet Denver makes him a big offer.

AND i think the long term answer to our problem at Rush DE will have to be answered with a young guy in the draft, maybe not this year, unless a guy like Merling or Harvey slips all the way to the second (which wont happen). But soon we're gonna have to address this problem with a guy who's not close to or over 30
