That is a great move. With Turner and Norwood that will be a good one two punch.

I would think so...I would actually look for Matt Ryan or Jake Long...

Yes Dmac will not be a Falcon now, not after that contract for 6 years.

This sucks as a panthers fan, great move for the Falcons though, proven big strong fast guy who can produce.

Unless they're in love with Matt Ryan, I don't see Jake Long falling past them if St. Louis passes on him.

The only teams that are possibly going for McFadden now will be the Boys or Dolphins and I don't think the Boys will trade up for him and I don't think that the phins will pick him either.

That is way too much money for a guy that hasn't carried the load. Nearly 6m per year is just silly.

Oops, didn't realize there was another thread. I'm still somewhat pissed the Bears didn't go after him. Will make a nice combo there with Norwood. I'd look to Ryan, Dorsey, or Long there, with health being a factor with Glenn.

Eh....there will be cheaper options in the draf. It makes more sense for the Falcons because they didn't have any important free agents to retain and have more holes to fill (not that we don't have our own).

I'm not sure what everyone is wow'ing though. It's a nice fit but that's a hell of a lot of money for someone that's never started.

So the Falcons don't want McFadden.

Apology Falcons fans?

I really like this signing, but I am not crazy about the money it took to get him. Oh well, it's better than paying Darren McFadden even more money by taking him with the 3rd pick. Turner is ideal for what Atlanta needs at RB, McFadden wasn't.

As for the draft I hope Atlanta takes Jake Long. He and Blalock would be a dominant left side and would plow the way for Turner. Chris Redman would serve as the stop-gap for whomever the team took in round 2.

im kinda surprised that the bears did not go after him, since he is a local kid. he did go to North Chicago highschool.

Can you say Matt Ryan

I'm thinking Dorsey. We have mentioned the importance of running the ball, and stopping the run. And if his health checks out, Dorsey could be exactly what we need.

But I'm really a fan of this move. Most Falcons fans will tell you Norwood can't handle 15+ carries a game every game. His health just won't hold up with his frame. This essentially combines two good backups who are perfect complements. Turner is the power back that Mularkey craves and Norwood fills the role of scat back. I would look for Turner to see 75% of the carries.

I feel similarly, 51. We've seen Turner make some great runs ... in the 4th quarter, late in the season. We'll see how he does as the starting guy on his own team, without the Chargers' OL.

I wonder how well he can pass protect, because better him than Norwood in that regard.

Great move, I still think Oakland takes DMAc at 4, Fargas isnt enough, provide in dmac and you make jamarcus job so much easier...Turner blends in great with Norwood, he should break off plenty huge runs in the ZBS, ATL is not as far away as people think...Roddy is a playmaker, all you need is to build the line with the proper pieces and find someone to manage the offense.

i feel bad for michael bush. cause with dmac probably going to Oak. he justs get buried farther and farther down the depth chart

Good Sign for the Falcons. Turner is a much better fit for the Falcons than DMAC would have been. Atlanta is a few years away from being good again. They should draft Long sure up there Oline then next year hopefully draft a better QB prospect than Ryan.

I'd like to say good signing but we haven't seen what Turner is made of really. I guess we will see if he can carry the load over a full season. You just can't predict how guys are going to perform. I am kind of curious why they did not give Norwood a shot at being the #1 back. Any Falcons fans want to clue me in, I don't want enough of the Falcons to have an opinion on Norwood.

Norwood isnt a full time back. hes really good when he shares the load but he prob doesnt have enough in him to get 20-25 carries per game

I am sure it has been said about 94024024 times already but this should make Matt Ryan to Atlanta a virtual lock. I've already read that they are smitten with him, and considering their GM is coming from an area where not only was he able to watch Matt Ryan develop very closely, but he sees the value in having a big prototype style QB in the pocket.

Both would be GREAT moves by Atlanta...

i do not want Matt Ryan. he's not that good. idk why everyones so high on him.

if we get a QB in the first round i'd rather trade down and get Brian Brohm

Great signing for a great amount of money. I honestly expected seven million a year so I am very happy with this. I think this means Jake Long at four, I'm sure he wanted some insurance that offensive line would be a priority.

If not Jake Long then Glenn Dorsey.

Love this signing.

Well first of all Mike Smith has just come from a VERY successful two back system. When you look at Jerious Norwood he is 5"11 205lbs as well as blinding speed, he does run with some power and will be great value (originally being a 3rd round pick) but he certainly isnt the pounder that can get you 3 yards a cary consistanly when its 3rd and 2. Norwood is more like Reggie Bush (although not a #2 pick overall) he gets stuffed twice then gains 20 yards, then will get stuffed again then another big gain.

We needed a pounder to compliment that, a guy 230lbs plus but still moves like a running back. Sure, we could of waited till the draft but after Jon Stewart and Mandenhal no one really fits and with this many needs, you dont wanna use a 1st rounder on a running back. This way we got the PERFECT compliment (in terms of skillset) still keep our first rounder, pay less money than we would for a worse fit in McFadden at #3 and also have the bonus that the guy has the speed to take it the distance! And from what i have heard is of high character with very few (if any) baby-mamas lol

i do not think ATL will go with ryan. I think dorsey might have a chance there. i also like the idea about trade back for brohm. i really do not think brohm has fallen that far on the draft board as people would let it out to be. what has brohm done to fall that far back???

Great move. I really love how well they should be able to complement each other. The combo of Turner and Norwood is about as lightning and thunder as you can get.

In regards to the draft, I REALLY hope Jake Long drops to us.

Turner
Dunn
Nice backfield

I think ATL is better off going with Jake Long, him and Blalock would mesh together, the backfield would be a good 1-2 punch, and any qb they draft in the 1st rd next year will be coming into an ideal situation with protection and weapons around him.

A little risky to give $15 million guaranteed for a guy who has 1 start in his career, but he should work well in a rotation with norwood.

I'm thinkin this could be a serious headline, and this will no doubt pull fans back into the stands. It's not super flashy, but a back that runs with his nasty demeanor and can still take it to the house, coupled with one of fastest and just plain shifty guys out there, it's going to be fun to watch. I honestly don't think we'll go with Ryan, look how our team is built...it's not built for a flashy QB, or one that goes out there and forces the ball, this team is being built for ball control. A Trent Dilfer type QB will be what they want here I'm thinking, someone who won't turn the ball over and will get the ball out of his hands to let the playmakers (Roddy, Norwood and Turner) make the plays.

a jets, oakland, or possibly a cowboy fan is very happy right now cuz they still have chance at mcfadden

Good not great signing. IMO Turner could be a FA bust. Reasons for why he got his high yards per carry could have been because defense's were wore down from playing against LT all game and he had Lorenzo Neal as his fullback and running behind a good O-Line. He could pan out but I am just not sold on him yet.

I agree with this but at the same time I could see the Falcons target Jake Long with the #3 pick and than hope to land Henne or Flacco in the 2nd.

Dunn will be cut most likely, even though I like the guy a lot as a player and a person he has lost more than a step.

But I believe his blocking and receiving abilities will allow him to catch on with another team. Dallas maybe? I'm not sure how well Barber can block or catch. Dunn should be successful in a Kevin Faulk type role.

Barber does it all he just lacks long speed and he needs to adjust his energy output if he's gonna be the starter. He will be tired if he runs like a madman all the time.

As do I. It just looks like it is the end for Warrick though. He has always relied on his quickness, and now it's just not there anymore.

Wow. That is pretty exciting.

Too bad the chance of Long falling to us at 3 is decreasing and decreasing.

So far, I want:

1. Jake Long
2. Matt Ryan
3. Sedrick Ellis
4. Glenn Dorsey
