I think we should get a forum mock going, those are always fun, especially if the people involved know their team.

I'll take the Giants, post here your team and once we have 32 we'll start it up.

It will be 5 Rounds, there will be a timer on each pick, afterwhich the pick will be decided by vote; co GMing is fine as long as both parties are ok with teaming up.

So far we have:
NFC EAST:
B-Jac27Future/OSUGiants17 with the G-Men
eaglesalltheway with the Eagles
fed36 with the Redskins

NFC SOUTH:
etk with the Buccaneers
Rjspartan with the Panthers

NFC NORTH:
roidrunner with the Packers
blackbelt3d with the Vikings
Lions WMD with the Lions
imprint3454 with the Bears

NFC WEST:
KCJ58 with the Rams
fenikz with the Cardinals
king2am with the 49ers

AFC EAST:
proshoota25 with the Patriots
TimDris with the J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS
heavyduty with the Bills

AFC SOUTH:
JagHombre22 with the Jaguars
indyfan1985 with the Colts
islandboy843 with the Titans
foozball with the Texans

AFC NORTH:
The Legend with the Ravens
Dirty Thirty with the Browns
ChosenOne/steel man/Jakey with the Steelers
Bradyjackson12 with the Patriots

AFC WEST:
BaLLiN72 with the Chargers
T-RICH49/VidaeKC with the Chiefs
the decider13 with the Broncos
jackson34/PorterMVP84 with the Raiders

Is this just a BB draft, post when your team is up, or something more elaborate?

If you mean involving trades by more elaborate then yes there will be trades.

What are the guidelines going to be? Do we have an alotted time amount we have to make our pick in? This all doesn't need to be explained now, but it should at some point before we get close to starting it.

Of course, I'll have to think about some rules, any ideas guys? Maybe we could get a time when people could be on and it could get done a little faster? Maybe thats way too much to ask? If you guys wanna spread the word so we get the teams alloted faster it'd be sweeeet.

I've done drafts like this before, except in a more elaborate setting.

A couple of tips I can give:

1] Set time limits and enforce them
2] Don't reset to full time after trades have been made on the clock
3] Stay organized... Both on the part of the facilitator and the involved GMs

Also, having GMs that know what they are doing is a huuuuuuuuuge plus.

It's your deal... You run it how you deem fit, but if you want any tips, I can certainly help :)

Of all the tips above I gave you, #3 is probably the most important one. An organized and prepared commish makes things run so much smoother. Just ask the folks who have been drafting with me since the beginning.

I think you are right, because that is just one more thing to complicate things. Though we will most likely never go through a first round without a trade in the real Draft. I'm not totally against the idea, I just think it is something that should be thought about.

That depends on when we have a GM for each team. We will make sure the majority is around, we will agree upon a reasonable time in which most people will be on.

As for trades, I feel like too many people don't want to do trades, I would be fine either way but we have to make sure our GMs are happy! : )

Sorry about that bro, guess I just missed your post. At this point we are having co GMs but I'm thinking we might have to have guys take other teams to get it going faster, not sure though. For now I'll put you up with the other 2 as the Steelers.

If you do trades, that would have to be a requirement... Either the commish or somebody designated to approve trades would be necessary.

Even if it's something just to make sure no compensatory picks are traded, or that trades are cap friendly... Trade approval would be needed if we go down that path.

Like I said before I could go either way, trades or no trades whatever is fine by me, I just like forum mocks.

If we were to do trades I would definitely approve and I have high knowledge of the draft so nothing unreasonable would fly. Maybe we could take a vote when everyone is designated to their teams?

can we have a sum of the teams taken so far??

B-Jac27Future
03-14-2008, 12:17 AM
Well as of now we have teams with 2+ GM's, before we have people doubling up we should get the factor out the CoGM action. No rush though, we will get this done either way. It's best to make sure we have GM's with knowledge of their teams and set the rules up before we rush into it and end up with a crap draft.

If you want a count, just look at my original post...

Yea, but we can't just give them random teams, they have to know something about the team. Thats why this is so hard to do.

If I could suggest something if you choose to take this up, blackbelt3d? Get all the rules and the organizational stuff done beforehand so people know exactly what they're getting into from the start. Would make it easier on everyone involved.

Also having a set in stone date to start wouldn't hurt either. All in all, I'm still excited to do this and can help in any way possible. Work is very very boring these days, so most days I pop in here for a bit anyway. Let me know if you need help getting it set up and/or running it. It'd actually give me something to do. :D

Well... I do a different style of draft that is pretty intense. It's not done here, so I can't really discuss it. That said, for that one, all the bylaws and rules are written up and PDF-ed to everyone, and they have to agree to them in order to participate.

I can whip up a rudimentary ruleset for this draft and we can crank out a round or two on the boards to see what happens.
