Who do we want after say round 2?

I'd like Kellen Davis, Jason Jones, Tavares Gooden, Jack Williams... Can't think of anyone else by now, but it's a start...

Are any of those guys considered "late rounders?"

Jones, Davis, and Gooden are all going no later than Rd.4 if you ask me.

If we dont take a RB sooner i think we should give caulcrick a look late, Sounds like a homer move, but I saw him at his pro day and he is huge, and runs very well for how big he is. He also has a 37 inch vert, just shows how athletic he really is.

zach bowman-cb in 7th because nebraska knows how to draft defensive freaks and hopefully he get be fitted with TWO mechanical knees.

ben moffitt-lb from south florida because john kitna needs more jesus buddies on the team.

shannon boatman-ot from florida st because recruiting can't be that bad down in florida state. plus his name is boatman. that would be awesome if it turns out that he can actually play.

Brando Carr - GVSU - "CB (6-0, 207): Ran the 40 in 4.43 and 4.45, had a 35-inch vertical jump, 10-foot, 4-inch long jump, 4.19 short shuttle, 6.80 cone drill, and ran position drills." Pretty good measurables

After round 2. Scheme fits basically. Hopefully they do better at that then last year. AJ Davis, Johnny Baldwin?

So as long as they make the 53 man roster we win? Awesome.

With all the cuts I think they automatically make the roster

A guy I'd really like to take a chance on is Illinois LB Jeremy "J" Leman. I think he is going to drop because he may not be able to workout due to injury. Guy is 6'2" 245 with decent speed. He's a tackling machine and has been one of my favorite college players the last few years.

I also like Mississippi DE/OLB Titus Brown. He's a bit undersized at 6'3" 245, but I think he has big potential as a situational pass-rusher, especially in the Tampa-2. He's definitely not an every-down player, but I think he's worth a shot if he's available in the 5th or 6th Round, which he should be.

I thought about Lehman as well, but didnt think that he looked good in coverage. Wasnt exactly what you look for in a cover 2 MLB???

I saw him in action at the MSU pro day where he performed as a guest and he looked VERY impressive and natural in all the drills, i think as a 6th 7th i would absolutely take a flyer on him.

Yeah, coverage is his weakness but right now it looks like he is a 6th-UDFA kind of guy. I think if he's there in the 6th, he's worth a shot. He's a Marinelli-type player and he could always work on his coverage. I am by no means suggesting we draft him as our future MLB, but he'd be an asset on Special Teams and could be a backup.

These are his strengths from Scott's scouting report:

Decent size and bulk...Excellent instincts...Is quick to read and react...Solid range and does a great job in pursuit...Intense and nasty with a non-stop motor...Has a high football IQ...Tough...Hard worker and team leader...Experienced...Productive.That is player I want on my team, even if he is limited to Special Teams and backup duty.

he looks good, although as you said, coverage is his weakness and he didn't wow anyone running either.

Here's about the only late rounder mentioned that has real potential.
Millen should be looking for undersized guys who might just fit a Cover 2 defense. He should take a few small college guys but that requires the ability to assess talent of which Millen has none. Once Millen gets past round 1 and cannot rely on press clippings, he's completely lost so why are we even having this discussion???

do we really want another middle linebacker on our team named lehman?

Maybe Next Year Millen2

There is no H in the Leman from Illinois.

The H in in Teddy Lehman stood for Hurt.

One late rounder that I think we should look at is Owen Schmitt. If we are serious about our running game we are going to need a real FB I've been projecting a FB for the Lions for 3 years now. The same ammount of time I've had them taking a OL man in the first 3 rounds. Still noting. so I doubt it happens. Another guy I like but the Lions won't draft is Frank Okam DT could be a Shaun Rogers clone. I'm with WMD when I say Brian Witherspoon is a good choice if we don't address our KR problem soon. He's estimated at a 4.25 40 worth a shot in the 6th 7th round.

chevis jackson looking like he will be in round 3 or 4 or could even fall farther since he will run a slower 40 time but is a perfect fit for the cover two and has played elite competition at LSU...seems to have some prety good instincts

Yeah, we all seem to love Chevis Jackson here. I'll take him and groom him to replace Kelly in a few years.

Adrian Arrington is a player i'd like to take in the 6th or 7th round. He's a tall reciever who has good hands and a great athlete. Scott has his as a late rounder or a FA and i personally feel he'll be a better pro than Mario Maningham. Take him and he'd be a good project who could definitly make the team as a 5ht reciever

Hey guys here's a look at some sleepers worth a look:

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/7967630/NFL-Draft:-All-Sleeper-defensive-team

some very interesting prospects and I think Trevor Scott would be a great late round project and guy that can be that pass rush specialist that we've been missing.

Ugh, this sucks, haha.

Our whole team seems like a project outside of Simms, Williams, and Johnson so why not one more. Scott will probably end up being a 3-4 OLB though but it sounds like he's got skills and speed w/ huge upside. Sounds good to me

Hell, Johnson is a project still... kinda. Which is good because that means he can improve.

Johnson is just a project in terms of being young, he's polished and pretty NFL-ready. Although he didn't do as well as expected still went well over 700 yards as a rookie WR... He'll be our #1 sooner rather than later.

DE/ILB marcus howard from gergoria i think we need more SEC guys because they are usually very talented because of the difficult conference. but their are many great players not from the SEC but what about danny woodhead to back up bell
