"More than a dozen former University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football players lingered in and around the weight room at McKenzie Arena on Monday morning. They were there to participate in UTCís pro day workouts, but nobody from any of the NFLís 32 teams attended, so the event was canceled. Strength and conditioning coach Scott Brincks said it was very unlikely that the event will be rescheduled. It was originally set for March 6, which likely would have been a more favorable date for the scouts, but was moved back 11 days to give some of the players more time to prepare. Now the players are left scrambling, hoping somehow to keep alive their hopes of being late-round draft picks or free-agent signees. The NFL draft is April 26-27. "I just want a chance to put up some numbers," cornerback Brandon Golder said."

That is pretty sad man, if I were the coach or AD, i would have done
a better job of trying to schedule their workouts with another school so they can bring in the scouts. Can't help but feel bad for them

That would suck. For 3-4 months those guys have been training and anticipating their Pro-Day workout in front of NFL scouts and now their being told that their not even good enough for anybody to show up. I feel for these guys. I hope someone gets picked up as a UDFA and does well in the NFL.

Not to be mean, but ... does UTC really need its own pro day? If the attendance of scouts is any indication, apparently not. They should have joined up with one of the bigger schools or a regional pro day.

Yeah I agree with Geo. Even top sub-division schools like Youngstown State usually come to Akron's pro-day, that was a really stupid decision by their coaching staff.

Although it is the coaching staff's fault here I can't help but sympathize with players who have put in an offseason worth of dedication for this opportunity to persuade scouts into giving them atleast a look as a FA signing.

It isn't all that unusual for prospects to workout at another scheduled pro day if the players are truly interested.

That sucks for them though but they scheduled there pro day on the day that 2 of the top 5 prospects in this drafts pro days were scheduled today. Good luck to them.

We all know where close to all the scouts were today. ;)

I imagine the administration will be workinig hard to get them to a pro day. I feel bad for these kids, but the one question I have to ask is - why'd they move it back? They had to know that logistical issues would occur. If they can't figure anything out, I could see a situation where maybe they videotape something and send it to all 32 teams.

Maybe I am just a horrible person but am I the only one that finds this funny?

I agree with earlier posts on combining workouts, the scouts will be there and it gives you at least a chance to catch an eye.

Hope something works out for those guys. But the Coaches or AD who ever decided this day didn't go to check out what day other top schools where doing it, and also maybe they should of combined it with a larger school, better chance to be seen. Blame this on the AD or Coaches.
