View Full Version : We Need Sedrick Ellis

After witnessing our recent FA moves and other factors I have done a complete 180.....we NEED Ellis (or Dorsey). lol let's keep this thread focused on the Bucs and not get it messy like the last one.

-DE is no longer a need....straight up
-We haven't improved our depth at DT like I thought we would and we still don't have a NT for the future, plus Haye is not an every-down stud
-WR and CB, our 2 other needs, can both be assessed later on in the draft. There is depth at each position and we run schemes that allow less talented players to succeed (WCO & Cover 2)

So this leaves us with the option of drafting a DT in Round 1. Problem is....the value is poor at 20 unless Ellis or Dorsey slip up. Trading up for either of them would work out fine, however.

Pick 8 (Baltimore) is the only way we could get either unless Dorsey falls because of his injury concerns. Pick 8 is valued as 1400 points. We could trade pick 20 (850), pick 53 (370) and a future 3rd to move up. Then we can address WR, CB and another need in the rounds 3-5. I don't think we have as many needs as we have picks and the talent pool will be weak at pick 20, so trading up for the best talent makes the most sense.

I know it will take some warming up for some of you to appreciate a move like this, but I've given it some thought and I feel it makes the most sense. Who's with me!

I thought I'm usually the pessimistic one...

Yeah you're right though there is one problem with this trade....

I'm not saying Ellis wouldn't be a great addition, I just think that the only way we get him is if he robs a bank or something.

People said the same things about Warren Sapp when we got him....the same could happen to Dorsey with his injury concerns. I don't love Dorsey as a prospect but he's perfect for what I'm looking for in a DT for us.

The point I was making is the Bucs won't trade up. We need them to fall to us.

And it would've been such a waste to use this year's first as trade bait for CJ with the almighty Devin Thomas and Mario Manningham at stake. Like we couldn't move up 2 freaking spots to finally get a decent skill position player on offense.

Well being in our division, yall know neither will fall past us. Unless neither get drafted before 10 that is, and that's doubtful. That is prob our biggest concern going into the draft aside from CB and if either DT falls, we would no doubt be quick to the podium with that pick.

As did I (when we were on the clock at 4) but that was obviously before we cut Simeon and Haye stepped up. Gaines was a no-brainer since we were obviously planning on cutting Rice.

You guys give the Chiefs your 1st, 3rd, and next years 1st and throw in some scrub and we will give you the 5th pick of the draft. Pretty cheap if you ask me!

We'll give you Brian Griese, Bruce Gradkowski, and the rights to Jake Plummer.

I'd take all 3 of those QBs over Matt Ryan. That should be a no-brainer for KC.
