I don't think Mahan declared for the draft... Also I would prefer Reggie Smith if he were available.

Honestly, I'm having a hard time seeing Oakland draft McFadden, but overall it looks good.

I have a hard time seeing Oakland not draft McFadden. He just seems perfect for the Al Davis type player, even if Ellis and Dorsey are better picks.

I don't like the Cardinals pick, sorry. Quite a few people have the Cards taking an OLB, but I'm not too sure why. Yes, we lost Calvin Pace, but we have Chike Okeafor and Bert Berry back from injury, and have replaced Pace with Travis LaBoy.

Admittedly, there's not much else on the board, but Mike Jenkins would be a viable option.

Otherwise, the mock looks good. The only pick that makes me go "Eh?" is Philip Merling going to a Cover 2 defense?

Al has taken two tailbacks in the first round since 1980. One was Marcus Allen, which was a success, although I really doubt Al remembers it as such. Allen was a huge headache for him. The other was Napolean Kaufman, who never manged to stay on the field.

It isn't like Al Davis is known for drafting runners, or drafting the first round purely based on speed. Also, he has watched Denver plug and play for years and was apparently sold on the idea when Kiffin wanted to install it. Futhermore, he has the 4.32 running Justin Fargas, who was an Al pick all the way.

Is McFadden possible? I can't say it's not. But Al has one pick to improve his team with for next year, and the need is not at running back.

good bears pick given the circumstances of williams being off the board

i like mayo as a prospect, but i just do not like the fact that he has jumped from a 2nd-3rd rounder to a late 1st rounder simply because of the combine

give us reggie smith

Solid pick for the Vikings. Not much else we need there at 17.

Great draft for the Saints. I sort of see the top ten the same way.

Yea as previously stated, i dont understand how mayo jumped 1 and a half rounds, and i really dont want to draft an OLB in the first unless the draft genie drops keith rivers into our laps.

And Reggie Smith > everyone in this draft, for the giants, he's a great fit and a great player.

It just seems like he is the physical freak that Al would take over other guys at other positions that may be more important.

As if this draft is lacking physical freaks at other, more needed positions. Al Davis is guy who has drafted a lot of defensive line in the first round in his day, and I'd be more than mildly surprised to see the pick be anything but a lineman.

I agree completely, we have adequate depth right now at OLB and pretty much none at CB, Jenkins is a perfect fit for our system too

I agree with everything except not much left on the board. Jenkins ins a top 10-15 guy, he is a top CB and would be the PERFECT pick right there.

Day 1 starter.

You mean like Roy Williams in 2004?

I just don't see DE as a first round pick for the Buccaneers any more. After adding Marques Douglas who seems like a typical 2 down LE/3rd down DT for the Bucs Merling in the 1st might be a little to luxurious.

so after signing landon johnson in FA to go along with starters thomas davis and beason and with the depth of diggs, anderson and shaw you give us rivers...

why?

I saw the something about the Johnson 5 minutes after I posted this, that's why.

I also blanked on the Douglas signing for Tampa. I'll should have a revised mock up later today, hopefully with a 2nd round.

I changed up the first round a decent amount, PMD should be happy.

Justin King may be the worst first round selection I have seen in quite some time for the Packers. First off, King does not fit the physical billing of what coaches come to expect from their corners in Green Bay. Second, King is nowhere near first round value; IMO he shouldn't even be a 2nd round pick.

draftguru151
03-22-2008, 12:24 PM
I changed it to Flowers but I disagree with most of the post. He's not extremely physical but he is a man CB so he would work to an extent. And as far as him not being first round value, I've seen him there in two different places and I expect him to go late one/early two.

I added a 2nd round, turned out kinda funny, not crazy about it.

I'd be okay with that draft, but I'd like this better....
1.) Limas Sweed
2.) Antoine Cason

I just think that Sweed and Cason are better than DRC and Doucet.

Although it wouldn't surprise me one iota to see Oakland take Ryan Clady over Jake Long.

Groves is a reach at 17 Merling is a better DE prospect.

keylime_5
03-22-2008, 04:01 PM
Yeah, I don't think that St.Louis is gonna take Gholston. And Atlanta certailny is looking like they're not gonna draft Ryan.

03-22-2008, 04:18 PM
Ugh. Not only is Justing King a HUGE reach there I hate him as a prospect. Once again, if Reggie Smith is available he will be a Giant. Kenny Phillips may be the only the player the Giants would take over him in any situation. And that is pretty much a toss up.

Justin King has first round physical skills....

but with an UDFA game. I wouldn't touch him until the Late Second-Third Round.
