Please no Quarterbacks for Detroit, especially those named Chris Leak. It's either we take Quinn/Russell or no one at all.

Yeah we have good depth at QB. (sounds funny but true)

Stanton I could live with because I think he has a chance at becoming a solid starter in the NFL. But Leak will never be more than a back up. Anyways I hear Stanton is climping a lot of big boards at the combine.

We need to draft someone with good return abilities, either a WR or CB.

Someone like Ryne Robinson perhaps . . .

we could go with steve breaston are you talking about someone who could play wr as well or be mainly a return guy

yeah i see stanton going late first or second at this point and i agree im not a fan of leak at all but if somehow stanton falls i wouldn't mind the pick at all

Ryne Robinson would be nice, but I really like the idea of getting a CB with return skills. Kill two birds with one stone. I heard Josh Wilson is suppose to be quite fast.

Which team would take him late first? Chicago? Baltimore? I don't see him going till the mid second or so, if not later.

detroit4life

im not sure i couldn't put a team on it but i see his stock being like jason cambells he was considered a second round type guy and then you see washington trade up in the first to take him. I think Baltimore could have a hard time passing up on him though

Profootballtalk (I know its not a good source) is saying that Stanton is passing Quinn with some teams.

i dont really belive that one i think people are just over criticizing Quinn but i think stanton will raise his stock into the first if hes not there already

That's some garbage rumors. Aside from mobility, Stanton has nothing that Quinn doesn't have.

The have the same weakness in that both of them couldn't win that one big game.

detroit4life
02-25-2007, 10:46 PM
yea but Quinn played in a little bit bigger games than stanton and quinn put up much better numbers then stanton did this year. I could say i think their talent is somewhat close but Quinns stock has got to be higher

Not really sure where some of these guys are 'projected', though there's always guys that fall hard in the draft... Here's one that i'd like.. in the event of a trade down, and picking up AZ's 2 and 3...

1. Jamaal Anderson - DE
2. Marcus McCauley - CB
2a. Brandon Meriweather - S
3. Josh Beekman - OG
3a. Rufus Alexander - OLB
4. Aundrae Allison - WR
5. Prescott Burgess - OLB
5a. Mansfield Wrotto - OG
6. Kevin Boss - TE

Gaines at 2? Nahhhh, Anderson.

Anderson is going to have to put up big numbers at the combine to get a top 5 grade. The reason he is projected so highly is because he is expected to tear it up. If he runs like a 4.85-4.95 then he could drop out of the top 10.

1. Landry
2. Spencer
3. nickel corner or cover-2 corner (e.g. Josh Wilson as a nickel)
4. Leroy Harris

1. The Landry pick is based on mostly on the process of elimination. No WR or QB based on team history, no LT based on Backus' contract last year. I don't see Adams as an elite player. Plus, the nfl's trend toward protecting quarterbacks seems to be making the holding call a thing of the past. I think the effect of this will be to devalue the DE position and increase the value of safeties (see '06 draft).

2. I like Spencer's pass rushing moves, he doesn't seem to rely solely on the speed rush.

The rest is ACC-biased as that's what I've seen the most of. Harris fits Detroit's penchant for non-durable lineman.

How about this,

Trade our 2nd with ATL. for 8th 39th and 44th. They can keep their third rounder to give them more of an edge in the deal.

Then we trade our Second Rounders 34th, 39th, 44th to Miami for their 9th and 105th.

We walk with
8th, Patrick Willis
9th, Jamaal Anderson
Then we still have our Third, Fourth and Fifth round picks to fill holes with.

WMD

I know it works out on the Value Chart.. but I'm not sure many teams would be willing to trade out of the Top 10 for three Round 2 picks.

In a trade-happy scenario, my two top defensive players would be Willis and Landry.
If something like that happened, I'd pick Houston or Washington to be involved since they're short on picks.

You're also right about Washington... they would probably go for it, as they're short on picks. If I were them, I'd take 3 2nd rounders over 1 1st rounder.

Ugh, I can't believe anyone liked Daymeon Hughes that much..he was a fraud..yes, I know he had alot of picks, but he was overrated..I never liked that guy..
