First of all, let me say that I generally dislike everything to do with the Sci Fi genre. Its just not my thing. However, Battlestar Galactica is, without a shadow of a doubt, the best show I have ever seen.

Season 4 (The Final Season) starts soon, and I figured it deserved a thread because well, like i said. Best show ever.

I think that this is the second best show on tv, behind Lost.

Everyone puts it down, though, just because it is on sci fi, and it sounds nerdy.

Huge fan of BSG. Can't wait. Such a shame that three of best TV shows of my adult life have ended/are coming to an end (Wire, followed by Shield sometime this summer/fall, and then whenever BSG's back episodes finish airing).

I'll be mildly curious about the prequel show they are making. Well, the miniseries that has a shot to be a show (Caprica). It's been rumored for 2 years now and finally got approval the last month or so.

Razor was an interesting thing to whet the appetite in the fall.

Battlestar Galactica is awesome. I'm going to be flying home from work Friday to make sure I get there in time to catch the opening, I don't want to miss a thing.

And the Sci-Fi Channel gets a bad rep for their myriad of stupid movies they put out, but their series for the most part are really very good. Stargate SG-1 had to be one of the longest running science fiction series ever and Atlantis has picked up where they left off. I don't know if the Dresden Files is still around or if it went off the air, but I thoroughly enjoyed that show last year while I played.

Am I the only one who has no fraking clue who the final cylon will be. I have gone over every character in the show and none make sense. I mean some of them seem like they could be cylons but they are smaller characters and I think the last revelation will be huge. Any ideas?

I think it is either Baltar or Starbuck.

Dr. Gonzo
04-04-2008, 04:10 PM
I don't think it is Baltar because he is the most flawed and most human character of all.

I don't think Starbuck because it is too damn obvious. On the other hand the obviousness may just make everyone think it is not here when it really is.

comahan

No idea whatsoever. I mean, anyone can be if * Tigh * is.

I'll say Roslin, no idea why, ill just say Roslin.

Dr. Gonzo
04-04-2008, 06:48 PM
I was thinking Lee Adam. I don't know why but I think there may be a huge twist thrown in there and it will end up Lee. I have heard that the Adama family was involved in early Cylon activities so maybe Lee was the first Cylon ever born and somehow ended up an Adama knowing that Lee could do teh most damage of all in that position. I think it will either be Starbuck or someone nobody sees coming.

Roslin is an interesting suggestion but I think the fact that Cylon blood originally cured her cancer and just that fact that she hs cancer means she is not the final cylon.

Yeah, that sucks.

BSG was awesome tonight. The graphics at the beginning during the battle were some of the best on TV that I've ever seen. I'm jumping trying to figure out who the last model is, I can't imagine it being Starbuck, that just seems too obvious for a show that has made it's living by twisting and turning at every opportunity.

Unfortunately, from what I understand, this is why BSG is going away. :(

Dr. Gonzo
04-05-2008, 04:01 PM
Nope. It is done because Eick and Moore want to end it on a high note. They have said that the show always needed to end somewhere because eventually they need to find Earth and they thought better to end it at its best then to drag it on too long. Plus we now have the prequel Caprica series to look forward to.

So who does everyone think is the last cylon? I really have no idea.

Dr. Gonzo
04-14-2008, 07:54 PM
My guess is Lee Adama. I just have a feeling. Last episode he talked about how he needed to leave the ship and work for the government, he didn't know why he just did. I am probably completly wrong but I just think it is him. Then again it could be the obvious, Kara Thrace.

what if the final Cylon is someone on Earth? Also, this is similar to the way the original BSG ended...they found Earth early and the final season was spent on Earth working with people on Earth and assimilating into life there...it was pretty terrible ending from what I've heard, so let's pray it isn't like that...

also, on Iowa's rivals forum, someone proposed this scenario: what if there was some type of war/attack on Earth as there was on Caprica, so the people from Earth fled just like Galactica did...I don't think it's likely, but maybe?

Dr. Gonzo

Dr. Gonzo

Indeed. The planet full of cylon twist was epic. My only issue now is Ellen Tigh was there and she was reborn. I thought the 13th Cylon was the planet at first but all these other 12 cylons were singled out so why wasn't Ellen Tigh? Dualla kills herself after finding **** on earth and I think having a cylon flashback of a former life so I think she is a Cylon. Starbuck finding Starbuck blew my ******* mind. There are still so many questions. Awesome episode full of awesome moments.

I will be sad to see the show go but if it ends as strong as it is right now there will be no doubt in my mind that it is one of the greatest shows of all time (I already believe it is but still) and I will be happy to see it go out on top.

I am watching the show in Canada and on a different network and the commercials were really short so I guess I finished first because I only wrote the ending was indescribably good after the credits rolled.

I tried watching the BSG Canadian special panel after the show. It was just a bunch of professors/writers and people like that dissecting the show and it was horrible. It was clear most of them did not get the show and were just on the panel to get there face on TV.

I get really annoyed with people who say they won't watch it because it was on Sci-Fi and they don't like science fiction/space shows. I try to explain that it is so much more than that, and that most of the time you don't even realize it's in space, that all the technology they have is basically the same as we have today besides space travel. I mean, the show has all kinds of political, social, and war-like stories/conflict that it is so much more than a science fiction space show, like Star Trek/Wars, which I've heard people compare it to.

Idc though because it is honestly one of, if not the greatest show I've seen and I watched it.

I have basically the exact same problem turning friends onto BSG. It makes me even more mad because Ive recommended a lot of shows to friends that they have really enjoyed. Most of them BSG is the ONLY show that I've told them about that they won't try out.

Its the ultra corny, ultimate Sci-Fi name that does the most damage. Many people can't look past 'Battlestar Galactica' with an open enough mind to be receptive to what the show really offers. I still contend that with a lot of people, if you can get them (possibly at your house..) to watch the mini series they will be intrigued enough to give the show a chance.

Here is a great article talking about the same issue we are from a bit more of a reviewers point of view. My one friend i've been harping about BSG to for years finally started downloading it earlier today after I had him read it, specifically some of the other shows elements of BSG are compared to. Regardless, I found it a good read.

I think everyone who watches the show has that problem. Most of my friends are film majors so they are all into TV/Film and even then it is still hard to get those ******* to watch the show. After a couple years I got one friend hooked and I have my parents watching but besides that nobody else. It sucks for the many people who will never watch the show because they are too afraid they will be labeled as nerds.

When I think about it, I realize it might actually be better that not a lot of people watched it. I feel like had it had a large fan base, such as LOST or The Office, they would have felt compelled to keep dragging it along or rush storylines. So it really is bittersweet, that I can't get my friends to watch it but not having a lot of people watch it was prolly the best thing for the show.
