Here is my first round. I got tired of seeing the same guys going to the same teams in each mock, so I spiced it up a bit. Several shocker picks

1) Dolphins-Vernon Ghoston-OLB

You need a guy like this in a 3-4. Taylor is good, but old. I think Gholston has as much potential as anyone. He is a difference maker.

2) Rams-Jake Long-OL

Safe pick, and immediate help for offense. Cant fault anyone for taking an ol in their postion

3) Falcons-Matt Ryan-QB

Didnt want to give him to them, but face it, they could do worse.

4) Raiders-Chris Long-DL

Howie's kid goes to play for dad's team. They could use him, too.

5) Chiefs-Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie-CB

He could start, and they need someone to.

6) Jets-Glenn Dorsey-DL

Not an ideal fit for scheme, but this guy has too much potential. Maybe end, maybe tackle, but I couldnt let him get past me if I was picking here. And I know I will get blasted by jets fans because he doesnt fit the scheme, but they are gonna plast whoever is picked. Dont they always??? He maybe the best player in the draft.

7) Pats-Darren McFadden-RB

Faulk has been really solid for a long time, but McFadden is a huge upgrade. Plus, you know the saying, "The rich get richer." Cowboys will probably get him first, though.

8) Ravens-Leodis McKlevin-CB

He would be good value here.

9) Bengals-Sedrick Ellis-DT

Need pick. But he doesnt suck, either.

10) Saints-Mike Jenkins-CB

Need pick, but once again, no slouch.

11) Bills-Limas Sweed-WR

Wanted to give them a cornerback, but thought Sweed might complete their young offense.

12) Broncos-Ryan Clady-OT

Protect the young quarterback.

13) Panthers-Jeff Otah-OT

Every team can use more offensive lineman. Panthers could use a few.

14) Bears-Brian Brohm-QB

I dont think he is the 14th best player in the draft by any means. But quarterback play has cost them too many games in the last two years. Some are good with their qb's, but if I was a Bears fan, I would be livid they have not fixed this position.

15) Lions-Jonathan Stewart-RB

This guy is a stud. He will transform the offense and turn it into what it should have been.

16) Cards-Aqib Talib-CB

I think this guy is underrated. He can play, and I would take him in a second if I were them. Might help on special teams, too.

17) Vikings-Chris Williams-OT

Everyone is calling for a wide out. I dont think they will do it again. Ever.

18) Texans-Gosder Cherilus-OT

I like the Texans, and didnt want to give them this player. But I am not 100 % sold on their offensive line yet. Until I am, I have to give them one.

19) Eagles-Devin Thomas-WR

Lots of potential. If he fullfills his potential, he will be a cornerstone.

20) Bucs-Malcolm Kelly-WR

They need a wide receiver. I am not high on him, but everyone else is. So I am going to trust everyone else.

21) Redsikns-Phillip Merling-DE

Boy, could they use him. I've thought they were goning DL for years now.

22) Boys-Desean Jackson-WR

This wont be the pick, cause they are going up to get Mcfadden. But outside of trades...they could use him on special teams, also.

23) Steelers-Branden Alberts-OG,OT

Very verasatile

24) Titans-Derrick Harvey-DE
Wanted to give them a widereceiver, but couldnt justify passing this guy up to take a lower-potential player.

25) Seahawks- Chilo Rachal-OG,OT

He would play right away.

26) Jags-Quentin Groves-DE

Underrated. And would fit in really nicely.

27)Chargers-Kenny Phillips-S

Playemaker for a good defense

28) Boys-Felix Jones-RB

Doesnt matter who I put in here, cause they are taking RunDMC. However, Felix wouldnt suck, either.

29) 49'ers-Sam Baker-OT

Still getting a pretty good player at a cornerstone position this late in round one.

30) Packers-Patrick Lee-CB

May not help much now, except nickel. But They will be glad they took him next year. Plus, howelse left would help as much? I didnt find one, if one is there.

31) Giants-Keith Rivers-OLB

I know Giant fans dont want an olb here, but even they would admit this is good value.

So there it is. The outside the box draft. I wanted to put the Cowboys trading up for McFadden, but figured that is getting ahead of myself.

I am now ready to get blasted. But I think most will be happy. If nothing else, it is different from all the others.

I'd have to watch the rest of the draft from a hospital if Oakland got Chris Long. My heart just wouldn't be able to take it.

Then again, we don't pick again until Rd4. I could probably get treated and released by the time that pick came around.

Cason>Lee. Also it would be difficult to pass up Rivers, Popinga and Chillar are ok but Rivers could be something special.

Solid mock. If the Kelly rumors about his knees are false, then Id be good with that pick. We might go with Harvery if he's there though.

Not a big Mendenhall fan?

Keith Rivers is an awesome pick for the giants, now if they traded away their 2nd & 3rd to get Reggie Smith in the second, it would be incredible

nice chargers pick.

Eh on the Eagles pick. Hardy or Phillips would be better choices there, but Thomas is OK. Kelly would also be a good idea.

The Vikings need a pass rusher, and I don't think they pass on Derrick Harvey.

very good raider pick

Seriously, that Jets pick is stupid, I like Dorsey but trying to stick him in a 3-4 just doesn't make any sense, we're already trying to get rid of Dewayne Robertson, we don't need another 4-3 DT with knee problems.

DRC is an interesting pick to say the least but I don't see KC passing on Dorsey should he fall to 5

No way the rams pass on Chris Long, HE is the best defesive player in the draft

I don't think we take a corner with the 5th pick. Seems a bit too early to pull the trigger on one. No one is worth the 5th pick.

Respect the fact that you mixed it up, though I do have to disagree with the DRC pick, still quite a reach there and CB's can be found a bit later in this draft. One issue I have, Gosder Cherilus to the Texans, not a big fan of his fit in a Zone Blocking Scheme.

You are as far in the box as you can be for the Packers pick.

Haven't seen that pick for the Titans before but then again he usually doesn't fall that far in mocks.

I like Chris Williams but the Vikings wouldn't pass on Derrick Harvey if he's available at #17.

1) BEARS WILL NOT PICK BB in round 1. We don't have an offensive tackle. At all. At ALL. you can't reach into the second round and pull a starting OT most of the time.
2) The Patriots? Lawrence Maroney? Who's that guy?
