ALM BEACH, Fla.--The Washington Redskins were awarded three additional picks in the NFL draft in April, including a third-rounder, today.
The league announced the compensatory draft choices awarded based on a formula balancing players lost and added in free agency.
The Redskins were awarded the highest of the compensatory selections, the 96th overall pick in the draft. Their other two compensatory choices come in the seventh round, Nos. 242 and 249 overall.
The Cincinnati Bengals, Atlanta Falcons and Baltimore Ravens also were awarded third-round picks. The Ravens and Bengals were awarded four picks each, the most in the league.

that formula is screwed. Makes no ******* since, especially if you get screwed because you picked up players from FA just to add depth.

I just kinda pumped my first after hearing we got a 3rd rounder. I cannot wait for us to tear this draft apart.

a full list:

The Bears, Colts, Eagles and Redskins got three compensatory picks apiece. The Bills, Panthers and Dolphins got two each, and the Falcons, Packers, Giants, Rams, Chargers and Titans each got one.

The most valuable compensatory picks are the third-rounders, which were awarded to the Redskins, Bengals, Falcons and Ravens. In past years those would have been the last four picks of the first day of the draft; this year the third round is on the second day.

Fourth-round compensatory picks went to the Eagles, Bills, Ravens, Titans and Packers. Only one team, the Chargers, got a fifth-round compensatory pick.

Sixth-round compensatory picks were awarded, in order, to the Giants, Eagles, Colts, Colts, Eagles, Dolphins, Colts, Ravens and Bengals. The rest of the compensatory picks are seventh-rounders.

guess taht means the bears get 3 extra 7th rounders

this could be their chance to rebuild, last years draft was above average, need to follow up and get some solid players to take the face of their franchise

Fairly solid job by Adam again. He noted the potential Atlanta 3rd in his notes. Got the five teams in the 4th, just a different order. Noted that San Diego could be a 5th rounder. His 2 5th's should be 6th's, one Cincy 6th is a 7th, but he noted those possibilities I think. Gave a 7th to Indy that doesn't exist (i imagine the 7th he gave Atlanta is the one that ended up a 3rd). Missed a 7th for St. Louis, but he noted that possibility.

Pretty dang amazing how he can figure out all the scenarios.

I think Adam ended up giving us a 7th.

Garcia=4th for the eagles. and they got 2 6th round picks, I thought they would get a 5th for Stallworth.

Adam nailed the Bills. 4th and 7th. He's good. But we were only 1 pick away from Mr. Irrevelant!!

Aren't 3 picks added to the end so there are 255 picks?

Sveen
03-31-2008, 04:53 PM
Come to think about it, I would think so yes. Miami would have #253, St. Louis #254 and OAK/ATL/KC #255.

Bengals get 10 picks this year, most in the draft iirc.

Hopefully we get a pro-bowl defensive player and a handful of solid starters.

No, I don't think so. The reason there are 252 picks instead of 256 are the two picks used in last year's supplementary draft and the Pats and 49ers both forfeit a pick.

Ahhh... The sole benefit (other than cap I guess) to being boring in the offseason. I'll TAKE IT!

I would write off those two 7th rounders but next year we'll probably have two of our former 7th rounders starting (Chinedum Ndukwe and TJ).

Nice!!! Baltimore got a 3rd, 4th, 6th & a 7th.
That Willis McGahee trade looks like a steal because it we pretty much only gave last year's 3rd because we get a 3rd back this year.

The comp system doesn't work, some how every year the Cardinals lose a couple guys who sign for big contracts else where and then we replace them with depth type of guys and end up with no comp picks because of it

That's not how the comp system works at all. It only negates if the contracts and production are of relatively equal value.

Well the Bills got Trent Edwards, Marcus Stroud and Derek Schouman. Also, it allowed us to get Marshawn Lynch. Wouldn't exactly call it a steal.

So I guess there will be 252 players drafted this year.
