what #1 recruit has actually gone on to be the #1 player in his draft class

#1's are probably hard and there's diff recruiting rankings so let's just say, what top 5 or so recruits have lived up to their hype and were considered to be top 5 talent in their given draft?

All of those guys had so much talent coming outof HS. But only 9 of 30 are first rounders (incl. Rivers and Harvey). That is a 33% chance. Why isn`t HS scouting more accurate?

Tim Couch was the top recruit in his HS class I believe (at least by some publications) and was the #1 overall pick. But in terms of being the best player in his draft so far Adrian Peterson looks like he might be the best player from the 07 draft and he was the clearcut #1 player in his HS class.

Well, firstly think of how many more players there are that play high school ball. The sheer number is staggering. Now, consider that every single player that is being recruited to a college team absolutely dominates their level of competition. It's tough to separate which players are actually leaps and bounds better than the others on anything than measurables. That's why you see the kids that go to the camps and but up good numbers get HUGE amounts of publicity, even though said players might not be as good as some kid getting no exposure.

Also, you have to consider that some players' skillset or size makes them better suited for the college game than for the pros.

No. But does that take away from there talent and ability? Both Sims and Ngata are some of the best young players at there respective positions, with long careers in front of them. Not everyone is a freak of nature like AD.
