View Full Version : Two prospects from the same school...

Okay so you can have any two prospects in the draft but they must both be from the same school. For example:

Boston College's Matt Ryan and Gosder Cherilus
USC's Sedrick Ellis and Keith Rivers
Virginia's Branden Albert and Chris Long
Michigan's Jake Long and Chad Henne

etc, etc.

Which pair would you want on your team?

Branden Albert and Chris Long for sure!

I agree.

Some other pretty good teammate pairings:
Trevor Laws & John Carlson, Notre Dame
Red Bryant & Martellus Bennet, Texas A&M

Remember the 2005 Draft, when Detroit took two Trojans in Mike Williams and Shaun Cody, and Baltimore took two Sooners in Mark Clayton and Dan Cody? Yeah, that worked out really well.

For the Bears I'd go Ryan and Gosder.

Sure they're close. Albert and Long is probably the best, but Jake Long a franchise left tackle and Mario Manningham who is probably a #1 WR in the NFL are about as good. Rivers and Ellis I think are a bit overated and that there is a couple linebackers in this draft not getting the hype of Rivers who will be better pros. If Matt Ryan turns out to be a good QB then it would be hard to argue to Gosder and Matt. If McFadden and Jones weren't both from the same position then based on pure value I'd say them.

How about Darren McFadden and Peyton Hillis. That would make one killer duo in the NFL.

But for my Chiefs I would probably take Sedrick Ellis and Keith Rivers. Ellis would give us one of the better D-lines in the league and Rivers at WLB along with Derrick Johnson at SLB would give us a very good linebacker corps.

I'll go Derrick Harvey and Andre Caldwell

Limas Sweed and Jamaal Charles on the Cowboys.
Kill two needs with two very good players with potential
to be great

I'd take the ones that fit my teams needs best.

Probably Sedrick Ellis and Fred Davis, Cliff Avril and Dustin Keller, or Trevor Laws and John Carlson.

Sweed and Jermichael Finley

Okay, I'll somewhat surprise on this one, consideirng which college team I'm a fan of. But my pick is ...

Vanderbilt.

I'll take Chris Williams and Earl Bennett. And I wouldn't be surprised if Denver ended up doing that.

And in 2006 Jacksonville took Marcedes Lewis and Maurice Jones-Drew, both from UCLA, that actually did work out well. haha

As for this year it's a no-brainer, Long and Albert, however Kelly and Smith might fill 2 bigger needs at the moment.

Edit - After seeing Toons's post, Williams and Bennett from Vandy would be pretty good for us too.

Long and Albert just barely over Rivers/Ellis (in general, not for Miami). I love the Vandy/Denver thing toon lol. Cutler to EB while Williams protects him, orgasmic.

Heck, let's go one further, they could add a Jonathan Goff in the 4th and it would definitely be a reasonable pick.

Maybe add Gatewood later on. :p

Miami's Calais Campbell and Kenny Phillips would be good for Jacksonville or New England.

Ohio State has Gholston and Barton/Grant, but next year they'll be ridiculous with Laurinaitis/Jenkins; Freeman, Boone, and Boeckman could all be first day picks and Beanie is almost universally considered the top back should he declare.

Cal's Lavelle Hawkins and DeSean Jackson would be nice for some franchises.

LSU has Steltz/Dorsey/Doucet/Highsmith which would offer different options to different teams.

Some lesser tandems that I'd be okay with (if we're talking late-round prospects):

qb brian brohm and te gary barnidge - louisville

cb mike jenkins and cb trae williams - usf

g kerry brown and fs corey lynch - app state

qb joe flacco and rb omar cuff - delaware

rb steve slaton and fb owen schmitt - west virginia

Thank you Toon, I've been saying this forever. Finally someone else recognizes it lol.

I wouldnt be surprised if it happens, and I will be happy. Chris Williams is great and Bennett will be the new Rod Smith.

For the steelers, i would say Chris Long and Branden Albert. Our O-line needs the most help and we could use Long in a million different ways as either a an OLB or possibly an end. It's not like anyone has said they wanted those two yet lol
