Doing a four round mock on another site, I'm representing the Panthers. I've completed all their picks for four rounds, looking for some feedback.

1: QB Brian Brohm
2: S Reggie Smith
3: DE Chris Ellis
3: OT Tony Hills
4: RB Kevin Smith

Brohm in the first isn't that good of a pick, theye have a chance to get a good offensive lineman and a QB will be available for them in the second.

We don't need Brohm, otherwise it is a good draft.

Like who?
Brohm and Flacco will be gone.
Henne for that matter.

OT needed to be picked earlier probably and we need a DT as well. those imo are our two biggest needs

I'd think that was a lot of players at positions where the Panthers already are full-up, especially with young players.

They already have three QBs under contract (including two young guys they're developing).

They already have five safeties under contract (including three young guys).

They already have four DEs under contract (including two young guys, one of which was last year's 3rd rounder).

Hills isn't going to move Wharton or Gross. I suppose he could provide the depth they're lacking, though.

Smith is... well, better than Toefield. Not nearly what the team needs, though.

Meanwhile, they still have no DTs beyond the starters.

We do have starters but is McClover a starter though after what he showed us this past season? He ran himself out of every play and wasn't that impressive doing it. Johnson was decent against the run but needs to learn more moves and Brayton hasn't really proven anything anywhere really. I personally like Johnson a lot but I don't know if I like him enough to bank on him being great. Another thing you have to think about is Peppers. Is he going to suck again? I don't think so, but its possible and we will pull him much earlier. Secondly, are we going to keep Peppers? Drafting a new guy early and him doing well could spell the end for Julius.

I think we definitely draft on the line unless no one is left of value.

I think we're decent with the DE rotation we have if Pep is back. Much of our struggles last year was from Trgo's usual inability to call blitzes effectively, particularly early in the season, the rest because Peppers could be blocked one-on-one by even the most ineffective lineman.

If he's not, then I don't see that it much matters if we draft another DE or not, unless we get one to replace him.

Taking a first round DE means Johnson is blocked before he even gets a chance (yet another wasted first day pick) and McClover is likely either cut or inactive most of the season since we won't carry 5 DEs on game day (yeat another wasted second day pick).

It could happen. I just can't see a greater need there than, say, making sure Toefield never sets foot on the field during the regular season. Or adding Kemo's eventual replacement into the mix at DT. Or finding another OL (be it tackle or even guard) to plug in somewhere in the jigsaw puzzle that is our line.
