This got a decent amount of interest and the timing looks good so let's see if we can start one up.

Choose one team to start, if we don't have enough people we'll take two eventually.

Draft order will be decided by this: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/lottery2008/mockdraft

Both the Nuggets and Warriors finish on Wednesday so late Wednesday or early Thursday I should be able to get the order up.'

Draft will start Friday, probably afternoon. 2 hour pick limit for the first round, 1 hour for the second. If you miss your pick, you will have your pick done for you so send a list.

You can start trading when most of the teams are filled, send trades to me, or maybe I'll find a trade commish to help me with that if someone volunteers.

Must check trades for two things:
No Unrestricted FAs may be traded, here's a list: http://www.nba.com/transactions/movement2008_index.html
And contracts must match up close to evenly (125% + 100k) for the trade to work.
The ESPN trade machine won't work since it's after the deadline.

Remember take 1 team to start

I'll decide underclassmen, obviously if you want to give your opinion I'll consider it. I'll just go by whoever's declared already and whoever is likely to declare, not who I think will or won't.

You can just decide who you do or don't want to re-sign, unless someone wants to volunteer to do Free Agency. No trading UFAs however.

I'll post a Depth chart/trading block thread.

But Portland doesn't have their 2nd.

Yeah, I know. Here it goes. Follow the bouncing ball. All info taken from http://www.draftexpress.com/transactions.php. Kinda confusing but it's there.

• Boston will receive Portland's 2008 second round draft pick, as part of Sebastian Telfair for #7 pick (2006) trade. This pick may be conveyed to Seattle as part of the Ray Allen/Wally Szczerbiak trade (better/higher of Celtics/Blazers picks goes to Seattle)

And as it says above....

• Seattle will receive either Boston’s 2008 second round pick or Portland’s 2008 second round pick, whichever is better (more favorable). Ray Allen/Wally Szczerbiak trade.

I also have the Rocket's 2nd...

Which was traded in a deal with the Sonics, as said above.

The reason there is a question mark is because of the fact whichever pick is lower, the Sonics get. NO is going to have a worse pick so the Sonics get that. They also have their own 2nd, Portland's 2nd [from the Boston deal] and Denver's 2nd [from the Reggie Evans/Earl Watson deal].

But in a supposed weaker class and him potentially winning a NC, he could potentially see himself within the middle of the lottery ala Sean May, especially if he starts hitting that jumper with consistency.

And I guess I'll take the Celtics.

I doubt it...He's just too unexplosive and too small to play either the 3 or the 4...Even if he starts making the jumper, he's too unexplosive and unathletic

With how many players have been unexplosive/unathletic that have gone on to be high picks in the draft, I'll have to disagree with the assumption that he can't go higher. I'm not saying he'll be good, but if teams took the best players in order, we wouldn't even have a need for the draft. Plus, it should be common logic that in a less stacked class he's going to go higher, and hey, some players may actually care about that national championship, crazy as it sounds (though no one should have to convince you especially).

I'm assuming this is based on realism more so than what's good for one of the drafters. Haha.

But just wondering where you got that list for trades. That doesn't quite seem to be all of them, but I could be wrong. Here's a list of all the trades for the next few years (and I assume you can sort out the ones for this year):

It is a good question. The grizz are building for the future and you trade for a pretty crappy PF who doesn't try, is a locker room cancer, and will be injured most of the year. Now the Grizz won't contend and have no future in site where they will actually win. This is probably the worst trade I have ever seen, worse then the Vince Carter trade. Why would you get another PG, the only justification you have to trading him is that you have crittenton and lowry. Why would you need a big man that can come in right away, the grizz wont be doing anything in the near future. Not to mention Roy Hibbert is a C, and I dont no how early you want to draft him.

Oh. That was far less complicated than I was thinking. From my point of view, I thought you were looking at it in the sense that JO'Neal is 20 mil off the cap after next year which would allow the Grizzlies to go wild, while pieces such as Milicic and Miller weren't getting them anywhere (though I assume you could have gotten more for Miller, but eh). And then either Conley or Lowry would have to be traded, and since Lowry had looked better, you went with him. But oh well.

A word to the wise though... you need a SG more than a PG.

I am looking to move either T.J. Ford or Jose Calderon. They could be packaged with 17 overall and maybe more players. I am looking to move up into the top 5 or pick up a top flight SF. PM me if you are interested.

Everyone look at teh Raptors roster. I will trade my whole team really. I am only looking to keep one of my big 3 of Calderon/Ford/Bosh so any inrest in any of them let me now. I am looking to move up to 1 or 2 and also looking for young players like the above mentioned Dwight Howard.

Should we really wait until the season is finished to do the Lottery?? This could die down.. Trades will pick up once we get the Lottery in place.

I don't think anyone would complain if we did the lottery now.
