This guy was everybody's favorite sleeper, and favorite youtube video.

Went undrafted somehow and then the Bears signed him as an UFA.
Whatever happened to the SLAYmaster?

One hit wasn't enough. He was slow as hell as I recall.

He was recently with the Amarillo Dusters in af2. I can't find where he is now.

The same thing happened to Dwayne that happened to every other safety who is slow and can't cover. If I recall Slay was a good hitter but not a great tackler either which didn't bode well for him.

He plays for the Cowboys and went to the Pro Bowl?

I remember when the hot rumor on Slay was that he was a 4.4 guy. If he was, sure would've been interesting. Too bad that turned out close to 4.8 if I remember correctly.

It's okay, the voters came to their senses and it only happened once.

Wait, what?

haha, sorry Cowboy fans, but it was just too easy.

Lol, but Roy can cover to some degree that he can be on the field a full game, and is great in run support and can tackle (though not always legally). Roy didn't run a 4.7 or 4.8 either.

As easy as throwing deep on Roy Williams, perhaps?

Man, I can't stop. Just like Roy Williams' on third down.

Damnit!

not to start a shitstorm, but seriously, he can't do any of those things. the only starting safety in the NFL worse than Roy Williams is James Butler, who happens to play for the Giants. he's that bad.

I wouldnt mind the Ravens getting him, I love seeing 3rd stringers get laid out in meaningless pre-season games.

So we're comparing Slay to Roy Williams?
How good is Rodney Harrison now by the way?

Great find whoever found Slay playing Arena ball.......

He and Earnest Shazor are probably chilling somewhere trying to figure out how to run a 40 yard dash a little faster.

He got hyped up by the power of Youtube.

Funny, but that's actually true.
We fans are wathing those single highlight clips, while scouts and GMs pour over gamefilm and see touchdown passes going over the guy's vacated area and they sit down and talk to the player, etc.

Sure these scouts misfire often (see Brady and Romo), but they obviously don't get YouTubed like we do.

Slay plays for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the CFL. He signed his contract in March for the 2008 season. His goal is to make it back to the NFL.

The funny thing is that Roy Williams popped into my head before I even read your post...

It's ok though, because "with the 28th selection in the 2008 draft, the Dallas Cowboys select -- Kenny Phillips, Safety out of The University of Miami"

please.

I don't really recall him ever being that well thought of even in college, but maybe that's just me.

I was way off on Shazor. I really liked him.

Yep, seems voters had the same problem with John Lynch.

Eh. Lynch now is obviously not even close to what he was, but back in the day he was a force.
