Why the Rams have to take a Long...

In my opinion, the Rams have to take whoever is left between Jake and Chris Long. The reason I dont see them taking Glenn Dorsey or Vernon Ghoston is because they drafted Carriker to play DT last year so they need DE help much more than DT help. Also, Gholston to me fits the 3-4 defense better than the 4-3 which the Rams run. I think if Jake Long goes number 1, which I expect to happen, the Rams would be stupid to pass on Chris Long, as he is a great versatile defender to would fit great as a 4-3 DE.

Ummmm no, we run a blitz heavy 4-3 and are switching to a hybrid 4-3/3-4 in the next couple of years

They'd get absolutely killed in the run with only 6 in the box.

I'm not sure I completely buy it, part of me wonders if the Rams aren't talking up their desire for Dorsey (via notable avenue Schefter) to potentially create a potential trade with another team truly infatuated with Dorsey (Atlanta? New Orleans?).

I've presented an argument for Dorsey to the Rams myself, a key part being the move of Adam Carriker to LDE ... but the team does seem set on keeping Carriker inside, and more importantly, I agree with Charlie Casserly that Carriker doesn't boost the pass rush at LDE like the Rams really need.

Both Chris and Gholsten are 3-4 pass rushing linebackers if anything Gholsten is more a 4-3 end than Chris. Although wereever each one plays they are strictly pass rush

Yeah, that's true... The Steelers run a 2-1-4-2-2 Defense, although we sometimes run the 5-6, the 7-11, and the 2-4-6-8, so I think we should take a guy like Quentin Groves who is a natrual 4, 6, 7, or 2 guy.
