....trade Roy for a 1st this year and a conditional 3rd next year? This 3rd can get as good as a 1st next year. I love Roy but if this trade came along. You have to take it.

So basically.... would you trade Roy for a 1st in 2008 and a 1st, 2nd or 3rd in 2009?

Yes

No

I say yes, but like I said in a different thread too me it depends on the escalator. If the way to jump up from 3rd to 1st is a record season, than probably not, but if it is just an avg. to good season for Roy than take it because IMO his value wont get better than that. Heck, that would be like us franchising him and another team signing him to an offer sheat, same compensation.

2 First Rounders. Now you're talking with Roy. That is the only way I would trade Roy this draft for Two 1st Rounders. He's worth that to the Lions because of the little talent we have.

Fa sho... we'd have to hope that this team in question passed for a ton of yards, but still sucked.

It's Washington, new WC offensive Head coach

We will ridicule you if you say no. 2 1sts would be insane.

Are we talking like #11 or #28 in the 2008 draft? If #11 + 09 sliding pick ..yes Tons of options.

If #28 + 09 sliding pick ... no. It would take a starter from the team trading (i.e. Lito Sheperd/Philly type stuff rumored last month)

Pretty sure Washington has #21. #11 is Buffalo's.

You would have to take this trade, Roy doesn't want to be here anymore and he will leave when his contract is up, unless the Lions franchise him... then we are Paying Roy and CJ 10 Million each a year...

but we are talking about Millen, he will try to hold out for more and get squat. and we will lose Roy for nothing.

If it were the skins picks absolutely i would make that trade, there is no reason we shouldnt.

If it is late first and a 3rd I'd still probably do it but would explore other avenues first

Say we are dealing with Buffalo.

I'd package Roy and a third rounder for #11.

What do you guys think?

Absolutely.

We'd have a shot at Clady AND Mayo.

I would not be able to say yes fast enough.

I'd say yes defiantly wouldn't even stop to read what the conditions on the sliding scale would be half because I know he'd meet them and half because it don't matter) I was willing to throw Roy out for the 22nd pick.

I wouldn't package a 3rd with Roy to move up to 11, I might do #11 instead of the Skins' package, which would still give us a shot at Clady, more likely Williams, and Mayo. We have too many holes to be adding another hole, smaller need, while not gaining any more picks.

That being said, I dont think it's out of the question for us to move up to #11 using a 3rd anyways, they'd move back and get better value for a WR and we'd get Clady/Williams or whoever the front office is targeting there. I just wouldnt move up for Harvey personally.

Ahhh... I was gonna say if we got #11 we'd go Harvey. That is what I think we'd do. Imagine if we pulled in both Mayo and Harvey.

i like the 1st round pick, but i'd rather have a couple non 1st round picks as the additional compensation say a 1st and 2 3rds or something like that. nobody wants to give those picks away though but another corner or end in 3rd this year would nice nice. as for how i feel about roy, its not like we're super bowl bound, so if he wants out then get out.

2 of these harvey/williams/mendenhall/mayo/otah would be great.
then a DE like darrell robertson this year and whatever in 3rd next year, probably WR then.

Well, there's a chance some one else will get the offer or less for their WR, boldin is requesting a trade:

This doesnt automatically fill the need for a WR to aquire via trade because Dallas, Wash, and Philly are all interested in one but we'll see what happens.

i don't mean to be a debbie downer or anything, but would we be able to afford 2 first round picks this year?

Yeah we could I explained this earlier in a different thread. We can back load the contract by a lot also later 1st round picks aren't that expensive. Not much more than 1.5 mil each I think and we'd get that with the cap relief we get form Roy.

I would, yall have a ton of good WR's. Instead i may ask for a 2nd and a good young defensive player

Hey Debbie, yeah we could probably afford 2 1sts as long as there not top 10, the cap # for Jake Long this year is 3 Mil, so after June 1st and Roy's savings should give us enough under the cap, worst comes to worst we drop DEvries and Gardner for the final amounts we might need. I'm not exactly sure why Long's cap # is so low on a 5 yr. $57 mil deal w/ 30 guaranteed, but it supposedly is.
