Minnesota Could take him in the 6th Maybe. Development QB is a Need for Us and He wouldn't be to bad of a guy to develop. Projected to be 1st round Earlier in the year. So Minnesota Is a Possibility but I say 6th rounder.

5th Round? I strongly, strongly disagree. 4th Round at the latest. Kids got some very good tools and high upside. He's the top QB on the board right now.

i really really dont see a team taking him that early as a project. In my personal mock i had him mid 5th, but there are rumors that he has dropped further

Poor Andre, he has the two most important things to be a quarterback Dedication and Leadership. Good news for him is hes serious about the NFL, http://www.rockymountainnews.com/news/2008/apr/24/nfl-draft-preview-quarterbacks/ (via Rotoworld) , article about him working with quarterback guru Marc Trestman to refine his mechanics. What ever team he goes to I will be rooting for him.

great tools, my favorite qb of the draft.
when the LSU game went to OT this season, i called home to tell my brother to turn it on and see woodson, i though he was going to be the next great thing.....
...no dice i guess. i really like him but he will probably need to hit the perfect situation to be anything in the pros now...

He'll go after Josh Johnson and JDB IMO. I think he could end up in St. Louis myself.

You guys are stone cold nuts if you think he'll drop to the 6th or 7th round. Even as a project he's worth much more.

I love him but then again Im a UK fan. Still though he was a good College QB. I think who could be a decent pro QB. Alot of teams could do worse.

before last season i thought he would be the top QB in the class. i think he still could be. give him 2-3 years as a back up and i think he can lead a team

49ers or Oakland perhaps, maybe Indianapolis.
49ers need some insurance for Smith. I love Alex Smith and hope he succeeds but if he continues to suck, next year or the one after they'll need an option.
In oakland He'll have the arm to run any kind of offense and realistically the Russel experiment will last three years if he's woeful. Woodson will give them a good choice as a backup.
Indy need an option outside of Sorgi. Lets also realize that Manning is 32. Favre retired at 38 and that's in large part because of his uncanny ability to keep going and going and going and going and going and going and going.
Should manning get hurt (lord forbid) or retire on a normal schedule (age 36 or so) that's not a huge amount of time away. Woodson could sit for two or three years learning how to play the game from one of history's best and could grow into a guy who can close out games and garner trade bait and could be a lot more. I wouldn't mind him coming to Carolina for the same reason to push Moore.
Hell if manning could go till he's 38 then at least they've got a backup who'll garner some trade bait in a few years.

I would happily welcome him the Chiefs in the 4th or 5th round.

I remember Omar Jacobs did not have the Arm Strength, release, or the big wins in the SEC that Woodson has. That comparison is in a word - Terrible.

Did you forget you have Tarvaris Jackson?

Dallas is a very good landing spot for him no one has mentioned yet...If he is there in the 5th he would make for a good pick, I dont think we spend anything more then that...Now there are still alot of QB's out there, Josh Johnson will go before him, the way this draft is going don't be surprised to see Brennan get drafted early in the 5th.
Woodson needs some time to develop and a good QB coach to work with him, but I would love to get him here and sit him 2-3 years in Garrett's system.

Leftwich jr? He's a waste of time. Big SLOOOOWWWWW delivery. That can't be fixed. That's why he hasn't been drafted. This is no surprise. He will be picked eventually however by a team that has clueless mgmt.

Wouldn't Childress take JJ over him? Both are great projects.

guys, i hate to say i told you so, but i really did tell you so.
I said 5-7th which is too general really, but he ended up with my giants in the 6th which probably means they valued him at least a round earlier and was there for them because our QB situation is pretty good.
He will be a project, but i think he could easily step in in a year or so if Manning gets hurt and do more than an average job, he has great potential and the slow release doesnt really matter when you have good mobility and a more then decent offensive line, especially when you are on a more run first mentality team.

Woodson really doesnt have good mobility. That's his other flaw besides the delivery. He doesn't feel pressure especially well and his scrambling ability is pretty much limited to rolling out then running in a straight line
I still think his ability as a passer trumps these issues to way higher than the last pick of 6th round, but where you're drafted stops mattering tomorrow morning
Also, I noticed someone already made the Omar Jacobs comp that I drew in the other thread. I don't think they're really good comparisons as players (though they do they have a couple of the same knocks - delivery, college system) but the situations are extremely
Kudos to Ballin and anyone else who called this, because I couldn't have imagined Woodson falling as far as he did and ending up with fellow SEC quarterbacks in Eli Manning and J-Load. What a big surprise, especially as I like Woodson a lot.
And I thought Brohm falling to the end of the 2nd to the Packers was surprising. Wow.

yea i didnt think GB would take a QB till the 4th, let alone one in the second and another in mid rounds.
Honestly I thought Woodson would end up in KC or Chicago, the Giants probably only picked him up because they rated his value much higher then their pick. I dont think he'll be great, but i think he was definitely worth more than a 6th rounder.
I understand some people predicted this but predicting it doesn't make it right.
I mean Matt Ryan has been hyped for a top 3 pick for some time but he may be a colossal bust. In all honsesty no way based on merit does he deserve to be held on a pedastal that high above the rest of the QBs in the draft.
No way based on merit does Brian Brohm deserve to fall that far nor should some of the QBs who went ahead of Woodson deserve to go ahead of him.
Poor guy not only goes to the 6th round but one of the worst possible teams he could have gone too, New York where they already have a franchise QB.
Whoever thought making a decision to go to a Senior Bowl could hurt someone's stock that much?
And as I stated, unlike a Brady, Woodson is in no position to get a chance to at least prove himself.
Even when you see a guy like Josh Johnson fall to the 5th, at least he's in Tampa Bay where there really is no future franchise QB. He may have an outside chance of proving himself to be the future, or who knows he may already be in their future plans.
New York? Man Woodson, you got jobbed.

I'm a fan of Woodson as much as anyone, but the flags were there, and thus, this drop was understandable. Simply put, mechanical issues as significant as Woodson's, at least, from the NFL's perspective, always causes big red flags. Add in some other small questions, and teams just didn't want to take the risk. He goes to a good situation. Ther'es no expectations. He'll have tim eto develop as the number 3 QB this year. They have time to fine tune his mechanics. He may fight for the number 2 job next year or 2 years from now. If he progresses, someone will try and trade for him.
OVerall, the QB draft fell as expected. Look, for everyone complaining about Ryan, it was clear from day 1 that, for NFL people, for people that do this for a living, there was only 1 QB that was worth a high first round grade. That's why Baltimore tried to offer St. Louis the kitchen sink. That's why there were other rumors of teams hoping for Ryan to fall so they could surprise people.
Flacco wasn't going to be there at 26. That much I'm sure of. Now, did Baltimore have to trade up to 18? Probably not. A bit of overkill there. Henne's fall was a bit surprising, although had Merling gone before 32, I think Miami might've pulled the trigger there.
Brohm's fall was the least surprising out there. I compared his draft value and skillset to Matt Schaub, which portends well for Brohm long run if he develops as such, but for the draft, he just wasn't that highly thought of.
O'Connell's upside led him up the boards a bit late. Was surprised by the JD Booty fall, but for all the readiness and smart comments, he was, in some ways, a plus Krenzel. Josh Johnson slipped a bit, but his upside is high.

uhm BBIB, Manning is going into his 5th year, yes he will probably go for at least another 5 years, but Woodson still could step in when Manning is hurt. And even if that doesnt happen we would trade him if he is that good to give him a chance and meanwhile he could develop.
In example we traded Ryan Grant to GB.

The guy was brought in to develop into the backup, if he became a potential starter they'd have to trade him or he'd leave via free agency.

Manning will only be the Franchise back if he keeps on winning. I remember sometime last year in the middle of the season the entire New York Giants Fan Base was ready to kick Manning and Coughlin out of the country. Who's to say if the Giants get back into the habit of playing sloppy that they won't be wanting to ship Eli out again. I think Woodson has been picked up to groom. Woodson had more upside than any other QB in the draft but also had the biggest basement. In a really bad situation he could have been the next Tim Couch. If he was drafted by a team like Minnesota and they came into heavy QB trouble Woodson would be expected to step up and that would outright ruin him. Woodson isn't the type of back that can just step out there and immediately hit his limit. Woodson will be in New York for a few years. He will learn while in the NFL and start to gain towards his potential. Then when the Giants are tired of Eli again, Woodson has been molded into the a good QB.
Then again thats just a possibility. Why else would they draft him anyway?

not everyone thought he was a bust. One of the best career starts in the league. Statwise close to brother but a quicker title win. Eli bashers will continue to be disappointed for the next decade or so. Jload is eating his way out of the back-up position.
