As a Cheesehead, it pains me to admit that the Vikings Undrafted FA list looks better than many teams DRAFTS.......

Marcus Griffin's IDENTICAL TWIN BROTHER from the same University, same position, was a 1st round pick last year, and this guy went undrafted? Is that boredom on the part of the GMs?

Erin Henderson was a potential All-American and was in most people's mocks before this draft in late round 2 to mid round 4. Undrafted?

Darius Reynaud has the talent of many 2nd round WRs...... the OL from USC Radonovich..... solid player.

My GM only looks under rocks and in diamond mines apparently.... trying to make himself a genius for finding diaminds in the rough, even 2 of his draft picks were guys like that......

both of which are oozing talent and I think most of us figured both of these guys would get snatched by round 5.

1. Griffin. Just because they're twins doesn't mean they're the same player.
2. Henderson is missing an ACL.
3. Reynaud has/had character issues and wasn't overly productive as a slot WR
4. Radovich, not Radonovich, is good but oh well.

I believe there were some injury concerns with Drew Radovich, which caused him to go undrafted.

Thanks Sniper,

1-Griffin did almost as well here at Texas as his brother did, and I live in Texas so I got to watch him.

2-Missing an ACL? So that means he can't tear it then if that's the case.....

3-How can any slot WR be overly productive at WVU with that offense?

4-Radovich or Rayovac, whatever, should have been drafted. Amazing he wasn't.

I'm not a doctor or anything, but I'm pretty sure missing a major knee ligament is a bad thing. I think it holds together your femur and tibia or something.

Sounds like you stayed at a Holiday Inn Express..... good enough!

I wonder when this happened because I saw so many ratings and magazines that had Erin Henderson as about a 3rd round projection..... was this new 'news'? Weird.

LonghornsLegend
04-30-2008, 02:23 PM
Did Henderson play his whole career with no ligament? If so, he should be fine to play now unless this was an off-season injury, he was a beast on the field...If its just injury concerns stopping teams from looking his way, he should still make a team if he is healthy to go, maybe nobody wanted to waste a high pick on a guy who might not recover from an injury, but for an UDFA contract it would of been well worth it.

It was probably his choice to go to Minn, I'd want to go play with my brother also if I had my choice of teams.

Uh Oh, head moderator.
That must mean you don't make any mistakes and your evaluations are perfect.

Like the GMs who passed on Brady, Preist, Warner, Romo, Gates......

Prodominantly, everything he said is pretty much good evaluations.

Marcus Griffin looked pretty good last year surrounded by talented DBs and a few good defensive linemen. After his play this year, it wasnt that surprising he went undrafted, he doesnt take good angles, doesnt have very good speed (and thats an understatement). I do think that he could be a very good special teams contributor, but for him to make it in this league, he needs to improve his game in vast amounts.

Erin Henderson was known for a bad knee/knees. Im not entirely sure but i think i heard that he has had more than one operation on them, which as not only a LB, but a football player is dangerous. Alot of the injuries sustained and the really bad possible career ending ones have to do with the knee and ACL/MCL. He no doubt has the talent, maybe not for a 2nd or 3rd but definitely a 4th rounder, but going after a player with no ACL is risky because that MCL could tear at any moment, leaving him with more then likely no more NFL Career left.

Darius Reynaud showed his stuff this season, he played in a spread offense which really hurts him. The defense would always be scared because Pat White, Slaton, or even Schmitt could be carrying the ball, and when they passed the ball, Reynaud had favorable matchups, mostly being 1 vs 1. He could be a steal, but we wouldnt know off of what he did in college really because its an unfair evaluation in his favor.

And lastly, it was clearly an overstatement on the URFA's over a teams draft. There is no way id take a player that went undrafted over a player in the 1st round. 252 times those players were passed over for a reason or many reasons. It doesnt rule out that they have success in the NFL, but the odds are waaay against them. But the Vikings and many other teams have gotten quality (for URFA's of course) players that could be those diamonds in the rough.

are you honestly trying to suggest that tom brady has some relevance in a conversation about your piss poor logic, or are you just trying to save face?

i don't recall once suggesting that any of those players were garbage. i distinctly recall suggesting that your assertions were, at best, horrendous.

darius reynaud is ill though...COME ON.
and its true that has does have excellent talent.
hes money with the ball in his hands and has great hands. yeah hes raw but he did play for the mountaineers. aka. home of the 3 slickest running options you could ask for.

with coaching and time he could be a nice slot receiver for the vikes.

Looking at the different team sites there seems to be a lot of errors in DraftDaddy.com's UDFA list. For example, they have three players on the Saints that were not listed in the Saints Official UDFA Class today. I'll try to go through every team as soon as I have the time and correct all the mistakes.

The first Eagles? Yes

Oh, I knew it was first for the eagles, I thought he was the first in the NFL that was drafted to sign (Besides Jake Long)

Edit - Oh yeah forgot about Matt Ryan, also didn't notice all the dolphins players.

The Jets have agreed in principle with Vernon Gholston, their top draft pick. No surprise there, as the two sides worked through the night in an effort to hammer out the deal. The NFL must approve the deal, but that should happen by the end of the day. The next practice doesn’t start until 5:45, so there’s a chance Gholston (No. 6 overall pick) could be on the field.

I think the Chris Long signing is what kicked those negotiations into gear. Since they're both D-linemen.

Actually I've heard Dorsey's agent was waiting for Gholston to sign so they know what the floor for a contract was

Steelers signed rookie RB Rashard Mendenhall, the No. 23 overall pick, to a five-year, $12.555 million contract. The deal includes $7.125 million guaranteed, according to NFL Network's Adam Schefter.

Mendenhall was knocked for being a one-year wonder at Illinois, but we like it. He's fresh, and it wasn't like he did it in C-USA. Mendenhall had a bad hamstring in OTAs, but should be 100% now. He heads to camp as the presumptive favorite for goal-line carries with a chance to be the third-down back. Count on Pittsburgh using him in a true timeshare with Willie Parker this season.

Steelers agreed to terms with Limas Sweed on a four-year contract.

Sweed, nicknamed "The Meatball" by no one except Patrick Dahl, will play behind Santonio Holmes to start the season and looks likely to be the team's third receiver. Considering Holmes' durability questions, Sweed may get some starts as a rookie.

5 years 12.5... wow.

For a guy who I think will be the best RB of this class, that's a freakin' bargain. Avarage of about 2.5 million a year. Compared to McFadden, Mendenhall came cheap.

Good job by the steelers.

Almost all the draft picks past #10 are pretty good deals. It's insane how quickly it raises after that. The Bears signed Chris Williams at #14 for 5 years-16 million. The Mendenhall deal is actually above market.
