If he's kicked off the team, he doesn't have to sit out a year, correct? If that's the case... if I am Ryan Perilloux... I pack my bags and go to Tennessee, Alabama or Ole Miss/Mississippi St...

It's pretty rare that a kid kicked off for disciplinary reasons is able to transfer to another BCS school, especially for the continual crap he did.

I think something like Louisiana-Monroe is probably a lot more realistic.

Meh, schools will make exceptions for situations like this. It is a business, after-all. SEC is serious shiz, if he wants to go to Tennessee, and Phil Fulmer wants him, you better believe he'll find a way to work it out. He's probably got guys that have done worse on the team already... and I consider myself a "Tennessee fan."

..Man I didn't see this coming. I have to admit. I figured he'd screw up again but Miles just didn't want to kick him off the team. What a gigantic waste of talent..

The rumor is that he failed a drug test. The guy just doesn't get it.

Eh, I can live with an 8-4 year.

Well that changes a lot of things, now QB is a huge question mark for LSU. Who is going to fill that spot, but really he was just an option QB, not a very good throwing arm at all. Hopefully LSU has someone in the wings.

Jarrett Lee will be taking his spot. Redshirt freshman but from what I hear he is damn good. Prob not as much of a question mark as you think.

Famous last words. Again, it's a business. You bring the kid in, read him the riot act, and hope that LSU did all the work in instilling the fear of God into him so he'll make better decisions for you.

In the SEC, what do schools like Ole Miss, Mississippi St or Kentucky have to lose? Kids like Ryan Perilloux only come around once a generation for schools like them, and the likelihood that they could have attracted him out of HS was non-existent.

My original question was simply whether or not being kicked off the school would make him eligible to play at the D-1 level next year, because I feel that if it does, some school is going to take that chance...

Schools like Ole Miss, Mississippi St. or Kentucky (I'm guessing) don't have the issues that Tennessee has had recently in terms of player conduct. Tennessee has had major issues with this recently, and to bring in a guy that has documented problems with the law would be fairly dumb. It'd be like Cincy going after Pacman Jones.

Got this from another board. Pretty reliable source.

UNOFFICIAL RUMOR...pretty good source. a "friend" close to some senior players and RP

Seniors went to Miles statign RP is out of control. Turns out Rp has had some drug issues and was on his 3rd failed drug test(NCAA mandated dismissal). RP failed it..badly. With cocaine as his drug of choice. The results for cocaine were "off the charts". Miles was ****** off and yelling at RP when he brought him in the office. Miles first words were "pack your **** and get out." Rp was supposedy crying and begging for another chance and miles stated you have had enough and you have wasted each one.

RP has also been with hanging with strippers in Port Allen. So bottom line, Seniors wanted him gone due to being a distraction, failed his 3rd drug test and Miles was forced to dismiss him. Its unsure if the seniors casued a another drug test or if it all came to a head at the same time.

Where is CLAMO? He may have an idea if the coke is true.

Because he's good. Everyone thinks they'll be the one to break him. Isn't he from that area? He needs to get as far away as possible. He needs to go to a school in the Northwest or Northeast. He's from LaPlace, LA (just north of N.O.) and has lived his whole life here. He graduated from East St. John H.S. and then went to L.S.U.
His mom wanted him to go to Texas just like has been already pointed out. But here's the point I'm getting at. I don't care if the culture is different up North. I don't care if ya'll drink pop and we drink coke. If ya'll eat chowder and we eat gumbo. If ya'll throwout catfish and we deep fry them. The point is this: he's a thug. Set. Point. and Match. He will find the wrong crowd to be with.

If winning a national championship last year, having the opportunity to strongly compete for one this year, having the adoration of the whole state of Louisiana at your fingertips isn't enough to keep you on the straight and narrow then why do you think going to play ball at Delaware St. (for example) will keep him straight?

Here's the list of crap that Perrilloux has been involved in since he arrived in Baton Rouge:

- Involved in a Federal investigation being conducted in N.O.
- Tried to get into a casino using his brother's i.d. Issued a misdemeanor summons.
- Involved in an altercation with police outside of the Varsity night club with his pregnant girlfriend and backup L.S.U. linebacker Derrick Odom.
- Suspended from the L.S.U. football team for violating team rules which included skipping class, workouts, and team meetings.
- Kicked off the L.S.U. football team for failing a drug test (either marijuana or cocaine), skipping classes, a handful of workouts, and multiple team meetings.

That really sounds like stuff he can stop doing if he transferred to UConn. I'm sure people up North don't skip class, skip workouts, and do drugs.

Ryan Perrilloux once said he'd win 4 Heisman Trophies at LSU.

He definitely thought he was going to step in and start right away..the guy got a literal ton of hype in high school (and for good reason, he was one of the best Louisiana high school QBs ever) and it really swelled his head.

As for JaMarcus Russell..I tend to agree about him not being that smart, but hes a great guy from all accounts. He got way too much hate from LSU fans while he was at LSU.

He was definitely one of the best QBs ever to come out of Louisiana. Saw him play in a high school football game against my Alma Mater during his senior year and boy was he amazing. Threw for 4 TDs, rushed for 2, picked off 3 passes (One for a TD) as a safety. Also was the punter and punt returner. This was against the highest classification in Louisiana. We won our district that year and got totally demoralized by him and Ricky Dixon (current LSU WR)

He was definitely one of the best QBs ever to come out of Louisiana.

How would he rank against the Manning boys?

And just being curious, who are some of the other great Louisiana high school quarterbacks?

TigerBait45
05-06-2008, 08:26 PM
Believe it or not Brock Berlin is probably the LA QB that got the most hype coming out (its tight between him and Perrilloux). Berlin was perfect for that Evangel shotgun offense where they spread everyone out and just threw it all over the place..he put up some monsterous numbers and looked like he'd be insane at the next level.

Other recent highly regarded Louisiana QBs are guys like John David and Josh Booty and Robert Lane..Lane was a mega-bust and ended up playing fullback/tight end at Ole Miss. JDB ..eh, I was never a fan but hes very accurate.

I hate Josh Booty. Guy was really talented but he..he just sucks.

I honestly can't remember how the state treated the Mannings other than the fact that we all love their father. Any guy that plays with a broken arm is awesome.

I'm sure they were pretty highly ranked though..it was before the time of Rivals and Scout so its hard to look back and see, but I'd imagine they were thought to be franchise QBs.

I was kind of young when Peyton was in high school, and I'm not from anywhere near New Orleans so I can't remember how he looked there, but I do remember that he won a state title at Newman.

devinhester=R.O.Y 2006

I would assume the Booty brothers, Josh and John David, are highly regarded as well?

saintsfan912
05-06-2008, 08:30 PM
Well Peyton was in a league of his own. Didn't hear much about Eli in high school but he could have been. John David Booty, Josh Booty, Bobby Hebert, Jake Delhomme, Terry Bradshaw, Doug Williams, Bert Jones, Kordell Stewart, Stan Humphries, Patrick Ramsey, ect ect. Most of them turned out pretty well, not sure about their high school careers though. I was either not born or too young to watch most of them.

TigerBait45
05-06-2008, 08:38 PM
But yeah, John David Booty was a nice looking prospect coming out..he actually graduated from Evangel early.

I think the Evangel system inflated the numbers of most of the QBs and made people think they were going to be way better than they were..when you're spreading everyone out in that shotgun set its much different than playing under center the majority of the time.

Berlin is a prime example. When Miami dropped him back into the shotgun he was actually pretty solid, but he was a disaster under center because he never had to do it in high school.

devinhester=R.O.Y 2006
05-06-2008, 08:44 PM
Did Berlin start right away when he was at Florida?

I think that the best thing for Booty then would be that he was able to practice under center for two years before he became the starter. Being thrown into the fire like some other could have proved out to be disastrous.

TigerBait45
05-06-2008, 08:51 PM
Berlin started at Florida (he was perfect for that offense) but he was stuck behind Rex Grossman.

He transferred to Miami after his freshman year (I think..Miami guys will be able to say for certain) and sat out a year until Ken Dorsey was gone.

saintsfan912
05-06-2008, 08:57 PM
Josh Booty would have probably been pretty damn good if he wouldn't have wasted his time in baseball. Blew chunks in the minors and Dinardo decided to give him a scholly after his failed baseball attempt.

TigerBait45
05-06-2008, 09:18 PM
He definitely had the ability, but he just didn't have the "it" factor that a good QB needs. He was..I don't even know how to describe Josh Booty other than maddeningly frustrating.

I think you are missing the point though. I am not trying to say you guys aren't doing it right down there. I am saying this is a kid that needs to change his culture. He needs to get away from all of the hangers on holding him down. He needs to go away. I am not saying that has to be a UConn or BC (though BC would certainly be a great spot for him from a personal perspective). It can be Washington State or Oregon or Minnesota. Get away. Get a fresh start. Get with a coach that will surround you with positive influences. Learn structure.

Going to Texas isn't going to help. Going to anywhere within 300-400 miles of home just isn't going to help. He can learn football anywhere. He doesn't need to be in an elite program to reach his ultimate goal, which I would think would be the NFL.

Now I don't claim to be a BC fan per se, but a school like that would be perfect for him: it's a Catholic school with a very high graduation rate and I think he'd get all the positive re-enforcement he needs to change his life.

But in the end, it's up to him. Kids like him just never seem to be able to get over themselves and their hype until it's too late. Unfortunately, people are probably not whispering the right words into his ear. So let him go to some school in Texas. I hear Piggly Wiggly is hiring...

The whole crock of **** that is SEC SPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDZZZZZZZZZZZZ really annoys me because as much **** as Ohio State took for their beatings from Florida and LSU, no one mentions when a Big 10 team walks into an SEC team's backyard and manhandles them, only making the game close by handing the other team four turnovers.

It wasn't speed that cost Ohio State either NC game. Poor preparation, an inability to change schematically, a 50 day layoff where they got fat and happy off of reading their press clippings and a team that was ready to pounce on the combined opportunity killed them against Florida. Against LSU, they moved away from what got them there WAY too early, forgetting about the best player on the field in Beanie Wells, and once again refused to move away from the soft Cover 2/Cover 3 looks all game, rarely blitzing and rarely using their talent to lock up man to man against LSU's receivers.

But to me, speed was not the issue, and I'm so sick of hearing ZOMGZ SEC IS SO FAST!!!!!!!!11111111111!!!11! EVERYONE ELSE RUNNING IN MOLASSES!. Carson ******* Butler, a 255 lbs tight end, outran Florida's entire secondary but ZOMGZ SEC SPEED

Haha calm down dude, its gonna be ok. There is no way to determine whose faster than who, its impossible. The only thing that really matters is who wins National Titles and who doesn't.

If that had happened Colt McCoy would be LSU's starting QB this year..
That's not true. Colt was going to go to Texas regardless if Ryan went there. Ryan didnt go to UT because he didnt want to sit behind Vince Young and didnt like that they got Colt.

I wouldn't want McCoy playing QB for LSU anyways. He hasn't impressed me all that much.

But in other news, looks like Jacksonville State in Alabama has contacted the Perriloux family about him playing there.

Dude, Colt was decided to go to UT WELL before RP had even made up his mind, where are you getting this from? He made a decision when the LSU QB situation was still up in air, he's a Texas kid, he wasn't basing his decision off anything that another player did, because if thats the case he would of signed with LSU when RP said he was going to Texas...At that point the LSU job would of been open but that wasn't the case, of course it really doesn't matter at this point but your false on that account.

I saw it on foxsports.com and the clickable link said: "Perilloux finds home in 'bama"..

Although it true I thought he transferred to the U of Alabama. Les Miles and Company would have licked their chops for an opportunity to send the dogs at Perilloux and embarrass Saban for the piece of **** that he is

So he blames his problems on OCD.

But the best quote was

Ryan Perrilloux gazed at his new home field, a stadium that holds just 15,000 and serves as a stark reminder of how far he has fallen.
