None of the teams in this division really standout
CHI has some good ones
GB has some young ones with lots of potential.
MIN has properly prepared for the loss of Sharper by getting Tyrell Johnson
DET has one good one, but not much else

I like Mike Brown, but he's never been healthy.

Bigby is alright, but has a lot of growing to do. Sharper is the oldest, but is head and shoulders above the rest.

I like the potential of Mike Brown and Steltz if he develops but it has to be the Vikes.

I voted for the wrong team. MN it is.

I'm going with a mild surprise here and picking Detroit. This is, though, somewhat based upon them going with Alexander/Bullocks back there.

Yeah I thought we are talking about depth here as well. I really think Bullocks, Alexander, Sharper, and Pearson beat out the depth that MN has.

Detroit, with bullocks back we should be pretty good. Alexander was a good pick last year.

Who is Sharper? or do you mean Dwight Smith?

Vikings depth is not bad, so i don't realy see why that is enough to turn some people off.

M. Williams D. Sharper
T. Johnson T.Johnson
E. Frampton M. Boulware
C. Griffin E. Frampton

What is so good about the depth? Tank Johnson and Boulware are both too slow to be playing Safety in a cover 2, I wouldn't be surprised to see Boulware cut or moved to LB.

lol, that would be Tank 'Williams' you are thinking of, he is NE so he can be slow for them.

'Tyrrel' Johnson (2nd round pick) is definatly not slow and will be able to be a great back up to both saftey positions and possibly corner. They will include 3 saftey sets just for him

Boulware got 10 picks for 170 yards in Seatle in three year, i dont know if he is as bad as you would think. He was trialed by the Texans at LB and didnt do well at that.

Frampton is a special temer with potential.

Cedric would make a great free saftey IMO if needed.

We also have Marcus Griffin in the mix

Not that bad aye?

until mike brown gets hurt hes the best safety in the division, lol. i voted that way but since it seems inevitable with him, the vikes are probably next up

Ya but Mike Brown really hasnt played at all lately who even knows if he will still be the same person. For now we will assume he is. He played in 1 game in 2007, 6 in 2006, 12 in 2005, and 2 in 2004. After not missing a game the first 4 years he has basically missed 4 years. I think it is going to be quite wierd seeing him actually on the field again if he isnt hurt.

Since the Vikes signed Madeau Williams and added Tyrell Johnson, they look like the best unit. Still we will see how that works out for them.

my bad, Tyrrel Johnson is a good pick. Btw, you just answered how terrible he is. Think about it, he couldn't get a contract extension with the Texans who are in need for a Safety and LB. He an in-the-box type safety that isn't quick to play in the NFL.

Sharper will start declining, which he already has and this will allow Johnson to start mid-way threw the season. I like the possibly of starting Williams and Johnson but nothing is good after that.

So how is it bad depth?

Great proven starter + Current Pro Bowler + Second Round Pick + Proven Vet + A young player with potential + cornerbacks who could play FS if needed = good unit

So how is any other unit in this divison better

The interesting thing with Sharper is he was playing Strong Safety the last two years and Dwight Smith was the free safety. In 2005, when Sharper had his monster year he was playing free safety with Minni and Sharper from 1999-2003 was a great free safety.Only in 2004 did he struggle and thus cut because of salary cap/high salary/age/struggle in 04. Now that they added Madieu Willaims who should play SS, Sharper should go back to free safety and I think we might see a little rebound with Sharper this year. Especially with the new pass rush and not having to worry about Run D. Sharper can just use his good ball skils and worry about picks, passes defensed and big plays.
