White says he is nearly recovered following offseason surgery
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Titans running back LenDale White revealed Tuesday that he played the entire 2007 season on a torn meniscus.
White, who had arthroscopic surgery on the knee in January, took part in organized team activities Tuesday after being limited to individual drills the previous week.

1,110 yards and 7 TD's on a torn meniscus...
He definately got my respect after being labled a lazy injury prone fatass...

He does get a bad wrap.
Only problem he has to me is the weight problem.

true that. i guess the hope would then be that if hes healthy, hes working out more and thus, will keep his weight under control

Awesome if he did that good hurt then the Titans got themselves a great player if he isnt a one year wonder. Completely different backs but who has a better career Bush or White?

I had always said Lendale around that time, the NC game was kind of a telltale sign for me, seeing how Bush struggled being consistent in that game he seemed more like a role/complimentary player who if used right would raise hell, but Lendale was the workhorse, got tough yards inside and always ran hard...He's not flashy, in that Marion Barber sense in that he will grind out a game for you, get the 1st downs and keep the chains moving, but you won't see many 60 yd runs from him...Chris Johnson could make Lendale alot better back if it pans out, now he will truly be back to his thunder and lightning days.

Did he injure it breaking into to the Dunkin Donuts factory?

Probably tweaked it on his 40 burger marathon at BK.

And here come to the fat jokes. Don't flood this thread with that...unless it's original and funny. Then you totally have to post it. But burger marathon? Dunkin Donuts? That's beneath you guys... ;)
But yeah, LenDale played hurt for most of the second half of the season. The only knocks on LenDale are his weight, speed, and ball security. But when it comes to his vision, power, blocking, breaking tackles, and durability, he fits our offense perfectly. And as LonghornsLegend said, we just drafted Chris Johnson to be the lightning to his thunda', just like Bush was at USC. Guy's chubby, but he's a balla.
White doesn't get as much attention as Addai, MJD, Bush, and Maroney, but he outrushed them all last year while having Vince Young and the Titans receivers as the passing game to work with...which usually equaled at least 7 defenders in the box on every play.

thats respectable especially being a RB. That will bring his madden toughness rating up a lot.

It was every Titans' fans assumption this was something he picked up late in the season against SD, but before the season even started? wow, that's pretty tough right there. I knew the guy was a fighter when he came out for a play or two after a bone in his finger was exposed and came right back in shortly after, but this is something else. Quite impressive a power back like himself can even put up respectible numbers with this injury, let alone respectible numbers in a terrible passing offense against 8 man fronts all the time.
Could be in for a big year with Dinger' back and Johnson in place to take some pressure off. I'm thinking 300 carries, 1300y, 10TD is not out of the question for him.

Ahh Tubby was hurt!
He's a tough runner, i don't know how much a healthy meniscus would help him either way, doesn't have a whole lot of movement from side to side anyway.
Just bowl him and hope for a strike. Or at least a spare..

White outrushed Addai by 30 yards and scored 5 less TDs. Addai also had a guy with 500+ yards playing with him and also missed 2 games. Lendale is damn good but not on the same level as Addai yet.

And here come to the fat jokes.
Those have been old for over a year now, and they weren't even that funny back then, Lendale is a power back, he is always going to have that Jerome Bettis build, and people tend to forget Bettis was two inches shorter and his game weight was around 250 yet people call Lendale fat for playing around 230...Fat jokes are funny when the player is fat and lazy like Mike Williams, Lendale has always been a beast running between the tackles.

He also had Peyton Manning. I'm not saying White is better but there's a difference running with Vince Young under Chow in 07 at QB and Peyton Manning at QB. Not sure how many 8 man fronts Addai had to deal with.
White was also injured the whole season it seems.

I think it got about as funny as the term 'LenWhale' permits, which is mildly funny.

He was quite puffy at the start of last season but he improved in time. He is also looking a bit better right now than this time last year too so hopefully he rocks up week 1 in 08 at about the same shape he achieved 3/4 through the 07 season.

Ah come on L.L.. it would be very naive of us to believe that LenWhale (nice one oZ) was anywhere near 230 last year. He was on Jim Rome recently and admitted to playing at oevr 250 last year. Come on, there's just no way you can do that. At USC he looked like he had a very solid, muscular frame, granted for his size, but he looked very fat at times last year. I mean look at that pic that OZ posted. He looks like Jim Kleinsasser.
He's been saying since last year that his goal is 235 but he doesn't seem to ever make it.

You do realize that in the Rose Bowl he was pushing 270? His natural weight is probablly a hair shy of 300.

Thats pretty courageous if you ask me, I played with a partially torn meniscus for about 4 weeks last season and it is pretty annoying/painful. Good for him.

As long as he performs I could care less about his playing weigt really...My point was that I don't remember people bringing up Jerome Bettis' weight over and over and we all know the way his belly hung out from under his jersey, but it didn't really matter because he was a beast...I'm not going to act like I can guess and know his weight from seeing him play, but like dfj pointed out he has played over 250 before and moved well at that size...He controls his body well and has some good agility for a guy his size, he's been playing well since he came into the league and he seems to only be getting better...I'm sure Tenn wants to keep a close eye on his size, but he still produces and at best will be a great short yardage back.

Well yeah, but just because he can produce at 250 it doesn't mean that that's the weight where he should stay. If he can be productive at over 250, imagine if he dropped 20 lbs? He could have a little extra burst, his agility could improve, and his knees wouldn't take so much damn pressure from all that weight.
If all else fails, make him gain 40 lbs and move him to DT. Henry Melton style. lol

That's the type of attitude that's hard to shake as a Titans fan. Coming from a guy like Eddie George, who may as well have been Atlas reincarnated as a modern day "Titan", White is a uncomfortable prospect for some fans. If he's effective - great - but how much more effective could he be if he was serious about staying in optimal shape like Eddie was? I guess not everyone has the body type and build to be like EG exactly but even if White will always be a little "soft", a totally dedicated attitude to his fitness could also stand to benefit.

Addai also had Peyton Manning throwing to Marvin Harrison (admittedly not much), Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark and Anthony Gonzalez to take pressure off of the running game. White had Vince Young throwing to um.....yeah, about that.

I wasn't trying to insinuate that LenDale is a better RB than Addia; I don't. I was merely pointing out that LenDale had just as much production as those other RB's this past season, but he only gets attention when he shows up to minicamp over-weight.
