Jeffrey Fitzgerald, ex-Virginia defensive end, has decided to transfer to Kansas State and rejoin ex-Virginia offensive coordinator, Ron Prince.

Does anyone know if K-State plays a 3-4 or 4-3? Fitz was a great fit in the 3-4 DE, but I'm not sure how he would translate to a 4-3. He's good enough and smart enough to make the adjustment but it'll be an interesting change.

He must of really wanted to be with Prince again, he already red-shirted one year, now he has to sit out another.

why does it matter that he's back with his offensive cord. doesn't he play defense?

Im almost positive they play a 3-4, so he should be ok.

Lucky for them, they get the 2nd best JR DE in the nation, he is flat out amazing. And I doubt his production was because of Chris Long, sure it helped a little though.

Maybe Prince was more ready to take him in than other coaches around the country. Perhaps they had some contact/relationship while Prince was at Virginia.

Prince was the recruiting coordinator at Virginia as well the the offensive co-ordinator and O-Line coach. Prince was also in charge of Fitzgerald's recruiting and he felt like Prince gave him an opportunity that most other major colleges were reluctant to do. He had major knee surgery and missed his entire senior year in high school. Prince liked Fitzgerald a lot based off of his junior year and gave him an offer early, soon after he got the surgery, while other teams wanted to wait until his rehab started.

You're right, but by the time Fitz becomes eligible (2009) Prince may be gone, depending on this next season, and KSU could be back to the 4-3

Is Prince on that short of a lease? It's just his 3rd year and he did have a huge win over Texas in Year 1.

Prince is on a short leash. Sure they have 2 huge wins over Texas but it's not a good sign when your 0-6 against your 3 biggest rivals. On the other question they play both the 3-4 and a 4-3. It will more than likely be a 60-40 mix between the two defenses.

KSU Was running a 3-4 for Campbell(?) and Jackson last year. I hope more college teams utilize the 3-4.

Prince is a HORRIBLE recruiter...The guy just flat sucks....He signed like 15 JUCO's this year...I would be surprised if he survived next year's off-season...They'll share the cellar of the Big 12 with Iowa State.
