Who takes naps often? For the past 5 days I have taken a nap that has been somewhere between 3 and 5 hours.

Funny you ask, I used to never take naps, but recently I've gotten into the habit. Some of the world's most brilliant minds were known to be consistent nappers.

Only when I have a migraine. Which is oftenHad a migraine the other night. Tried to sleep it off but woke up with a worse one. 3:30 in the morning I went to the store to get some meds.

Back on topic I can't because I'll never get to sleep that night. But when I do they're glorious.

I used to take them before my basketball, baseball and soccer games when I was younger though.

Why is it that when I was young and was required to nap, I never wanted to but now that all I want to do is nap but have trouble finding time to take a nap?

I'm not someone who gets much sleep anyways so napping for me atleast is a must.

We had a large debate on IRC once. I'm a big nap guy. It feels great and I usually have my best dreams during naps. Others on IRc called me names...

Perhaps because you're an adult and have more responsibilities, therefore you tire out more easily.

I try to take them when I have to wake up earlier than say, 9 A.M. Otherwise, I don't need one.

Very true, I just wish I had more time to take naps because I love them. Also after taking a nap I can stay up longer at night when good shows are on television

I've gotten into somewhat of a habit of falling asleep Around the Horn. It started out as just being tired after a long day, but then I realized that for some reason the sleep quality of that was so much better than I get at night so I do it on purpose every once in a while now.

Naps?? I love sleeping as much as the next guy but the more you sleep the more of your day you waste. Just go to bed earlier and you wont need naps. Around 8 hours thats 1/3 of your life wasted, well not really but you get it.

Brent

time well spent. I'd rather sleep and let my body heal itself and get stronger instead of sitting around watching TV or something equally unproductive

Naps have been a huge part of my life for a long time now lol, ever since I was little all the way through high school and college...Just keeps me refreshed plus I love to sleep, just one of my hobbies, so I always cut out time for a nap like little kid...Only time I try not to is when I have to get up around 5 or 6am, because I will never got to sleep at a decent hour...But naps are a large part of my life and I love it:D

I heard sleeping during the day is really bad for your future health. And the human body should only be asleep for 8 hours.

Almost every single study I've read extols the positive affect that sleep has on health.

I heard alot of things are bad for your future health, take your choice on which one you want...I really doubt taking naps will ruin your health so bad its going to knock years off your life, so you live to 75 instead of 73.

Naps are like a drug. I always wake up disoriented and have no idea what is going on at the moment. Post nap i become suicceptible to tricks like my mom telling me its the end of summer and i need to get ready for school. :(

Well, I like naps, but I hate the feeling when you wake up from them. Your body feels soooo heavy and your mind is basically fried for like 20 minutes after.

That's why, it's better to just not sleep at all then get like 2-3 hours of sleep if you are cramming for a test or something

Well, a lot of people have problems with sleeping because they lay down to watch TV or they do that like half-laying down, half-sitting up thing when they're on a laptop to whatever. And when they do that, they're body is used to staying awake when they're laying down, so when I said train your body, I mean don't lay down for any reason unless it is to sleep. If you do lay down at night and havent fallen asleep and 30 or so minutes has passed, get up, turn on some lights and surf the internet or something for a few minutes and then try again. I have been a strong follower of the laying down only to sleep rule for several years and I find that, even if I am not tired, if I lay down on my couch or bed, I'll start to slip into that sleepy mode and begin to want to dooze off.

It's probably not the safest thing but I take naps on the metro coming home from work almost every day. It's an over 45 minute ride, and I am usually dog tired. I have to wake up at 4:30 every morning so it sucks. If I go somewhere or even just watch a basketball game on T.V. that ends around 12:30 I only get like 2 1/2 to 3 hours of sleep.

You have it lucky. The metro is like gliding on butter compared to pretty much any other transit system.

as long as you don't miss your stop and end up at like, greenbelt or bethesda or something like that. you're fine.
