View Full Version : Who is the "Freakiest" player in CF?

TheIncredibleDraftDude

Who is the Mario Williams (if there is one) in terms of size/speed/athletic ability, of CF right now.

My go: Tyson Jackson 6'5 - 295 pounds - 4.70-4.8 40 yard. A pass rusher in the mold reggie white. The guy is beastly.

DONT BASH IF U DISAGREE! Pls.

Usually you got bashed for saying that QB's could play OLB
But sure, Tyson is very comparable to Mario.

Gotta go with Everson Griffen. He has Vernon Gholston-like ability and athletism. The guy is 6'4 265 and is running a low 4.6-high 4.5 and is only going into his sophmore season.

I think the better title for this thread would be "What College Football Player has the Best Measurables?"

And my answer would also be Everson Griffin.

Wow he started a sensible thread...

If Taylor Mays runs anywhere near the 4.25 that he supposedly ran then it's him by a mile.

Also Tim Tebow is a freaky QB, gimmicky but a freak none the less.

Taylor Mays would make a dominant MLB if he bulked up like 10 lbs. 6'4 -250 lbs mlb can u say urlacher + Ray Lewis With 4.31 speed. First Ballot hoffer. I even think he got some reps at the pos. so it isnt so far fetched.

see, you were doing so well, you started a semi sensible thread, other then comparing tyson jackson to the greatest DE of all time...then you go and say something completely and utterly idiotic. BULKING UP AND SWITHCING POSITIONS DOESNT WORK! THIS ISNT MADDEN! THE NFL IS NOT A VIDEO GAME!

honestly dude, it doesnt work that way...why would you move a guy who have a chance to be something truly special at his position to a position where he cant veen put that 4.3 speed to use? its just stupid! stop suggestiing it! and to call someoen a first ballot hall of famer AT A DIFFERANT POSITION before they even enter the NFL is just ludacris...stop posting stupid stuff like this, its annoying.

dude, don't be silly, first of all he'd have to play Strong Safety all the time because you can't move free safeties to linebacker, and strong safeties can only move to OUTSIDE linebacker. Jeesh, this is serious stuff.

But other than that, I'm with APS on this one, it's really not a realistic idea.

Actually..........Brian Urlacher played a lot of safety in college and is 6-4/255 and an NFL mike linebacker who is great in coverage. But Taylor is not built like Urlacher, will never play linebacker, he's not that physical. He'll be a big free safety or a rangy, athletic strong safety in the NFL and that's it.

well, TBH, when brian urlacher played safety in college, he was alot smaller then he is now...and the lobos play alot of hybrid schemes down there, so to say that urlacher was a S in college is inaccurate. But i agree with wat you said about mays

That's because you can take any average linebacker with decent (70+) strength and move him to defensive end and he is instantly one of the best in the league (high 80s minimum). I got Tim Shaw as an UDFA (73-ish) and flipped him and he was 95 overall.

Homer pick - Ole Miss junior DE Greg Hardy. Hardy is 6-5 260 and led the SEC in sacks last season. Hardy also has caught 3 TDs as a receiver and played on the basketball team as a freshman and was the teams sixth man. Hardy probably runs arond a 4.6-4.7 and is a great NFL prospect.

I'm calling ******** on the 4.4

9. Martez Wilson, Illinois, LB: Ron Zook was at Florida when Jevon Kearse came to Florida and in Wilson, he sees a very similar talent. In fact, Zook has dubbed Wilson "Freak 2." Wilson, who arrived last year at Illinois weighing 235 pounds, is up to 248 and just as fast and even more explosive. Wilson's 4.4 speed makes him a force at linebacker as well as a red zone tight end and as a gunner on the punt team, which Zook points out should tell you about the guy's speed.

"Tez has unbelievable acceleration, and he'll be 265, 270 by the time he leaves here," Zook predicts. "And the really great thing about him is he wants to be good."

I just got it from the ESPN article. Seems hard to believe but Wilson was wanting to be used as a WR in certain situations and seems to have good wheels.

Doesn't get a lot of love with all the studs in the Texas defense, but this guy is seriously gonna turn some heads and shut out some lights this year.

Allen Bailey is the most freakist college football player right now.

He plays DE he played LB as a freshman last year, he was 6'4 270 last year playing linebacker.

He is 6'4 290 now, he runs a 4.7 40 yard dash and has a 40 inch vertical.

There is no one in college football that is more of a physical freak than Allen Bailey from Miami.

No one stacks up to the measurables that Bailey puts up, just name any player that is playing college football now that is more of a freak than Bailey.

I bet that etk, draftguru151, and TACKLE will all agree with me that Bailey is the most physical freak in college football.

This is a little thing i got from espn workout warriors.

6. Allen Bailey, Miami, DE: A sophomore, Bailey might be the No. 1 on this list next year. The powerhouse Georgia product is one of those rare talents with a background made for legends. Like the time he once killed an alligator with a shovel. Bailey, who wowed Miami coaches with his smooth transition from linebacker to defensive end, was almost as impressive in Miami's spring workouts where he weighed in at 286 pounds with 8 percent body fat and vertical jumped 38.5 inches and power cleaned 375 pounds -- numbers that surely are adding to the Bailey folklore around Coral Gables.

"He's about as freakish as they come," Miami strength coach Andreu Swasey says. "He's like a big Willis McGahee. At almost 290 pounds, the guy is sculpted like a Greek god. I expect him to break a lot of records around here before he leaves. He will be a 41 or 42-inch vertical jump guy, run in the 4.5s or low 4.6 and clean 400."

After spring practice, Bailey did suffer an injured pectoral muscle, but he is expected to be fine by fall camp.

Allen Bailey is the true physical freak of nature in college football right now, no one is more of a freak than him, like seriously come on he weighs 290 and is 8 percent body fat, now thats even better than Mr.Orakpo.

An excerpt from Athlon Sports "Marvin Austin has incredible athleticism for a man his size. In addition to playing football, he runs one leg of the 4x100 and the 55 meters in track, which is an accomplishment for a guy who stands in at 6-3 and 300-pounds...Austin runs a 4.69 40-yard dash." According to Rivals he also has a 4.34 second shuttle. Obviously times coming out of HS should be taken witha grain of salt but even if his true numbers are within .2 of his supposed numbers it's incredible for a guy of that size. I haven't seen a DT with such ridiculous measurables since Dan Wilkinson.

I'm just guessing. Probably 4.4 on the track.

Whenever someone says a player can run a 4.3 or a 4.2 i do not beleive it for a second untill i see them run it at the combine or their pro day. It's just so fast that very few people can actually do it

Thank you...theres no way I buy Mays running in the 4.2's til I see it.

Homer pick alert!

*drum rolls*

Brian Orakpo, DE, Texas.

Doesn't get a lot of love with all the studs in the Texas defense, but this guy is seriously gonna turn some heads and shut out some lights this year.

Strong as an ox and fast as a LB. If anyone at Texas has a shot at being an All-American, it's Orakpo.

Just one page before EF45 ;)

still, the man is a freak and is deserving of a 2nd mention. Do you know how many times Taylor Mays has been mentioned? countless.

Hah, you're right. If Orakpo can get some polishing, he'll be a top 15 pick easily.

Carlos Dunlap is without a doubt the freakiest player in CF.

The guy is 6'6" 290lbs. and runs a 4.7 40 that is not fair to the other team.

Carlos Dunlap = Mario Williams

if that picture isn't doctored than johnson has a pretty freaky physique.

Michael Johnson IS the epitome of a freak of nature. Freakier than Gholston in my book. For a little guy I gotta give Noel Devine some credit as well. His lower body is stacked so no wonder he's a pain to take down and he seems to be bouncing off the walls at all times while on the field. One last mention would be DHB. Someone that big .. that fast .. that's just not fair .

All this talk about Allen Bailey, I beg to differ on pure "freakiness".
Everson Griffen 6-4 265 4.46 40! As an athlete/freak EG has Bailey beat.

How exactly does he has Bailey beat? Bailey is 6'4" 290lbs, 8 percent body fat and runs a 4.7 40. On just plain straight common measurables, they are pretty damn close. Throw in the fact that Bailey has close to a 40 inch vertical and power cleans close to 400 pounds and I think Bailey's got him by a hair. No 290 pound man should be able to put up a 40 inch vertical.

I can't get over the fact these kids are still only 19 years old!!

The 2010 draft class has potential to be REALLY good, 3 potential top 10 picks:
Everson Griffen- Explosive Athlete
Allen Bailey- Absolute Freak
Carlos Dunlap- Mario Williams Clone

Cameron Hayward. The next big thing at DT in the NFL not Glenn Dorsey.

If he in fact does have that 40 in vert than Mario Williams will finally be able to welcome someone to his exclusive club.

Mario Williams is damn good at stopping the run. Carlos Dunlap sucks at stopping the run.

Jacques McClendon, OG for the University of Tennessee, has bench pressed 645-lbs according to the Vols strength and conditioning coach. Vladimir Richardson, also an OG, also benched 600-lbs.

McClendon's bench would rank him 15th all time on the unassisted bench press list. Vlad would also make the "600-list," which only contains 45 people worldwide.

No Vols have exceeded McClendon’s jaw-dropping bench mark — or his 730-pound back squat — but several have surpassed program position records. Senior Demonte Bolden from Tyner Academy set a new defensive line mark with his 565-pound bench press, while sophomore tight end Luke Stocker (565) and walk-on sophomore linebacker Nick Reveiz (640) set new squat marks at their positions.

Sophomore All-American kicker Daniel Lincoln breezed past the program’s records with his 370-pound bench press, 405-pound squat and 275-pound power clean.

Daniel Lincoln owns j000z! And I just thought it was cool that DeMonte Bolden set a mark that neither Albert Haynesworth nor John Henderson could hit.

Also, Eric Berry is around 210 after adding 15-lbs of "lean muscle mass," and sophomore DE Ben Martin is running with the DB's while at 6'3, 250.

I'm really looking forward to see how Martin does in the DE rotation. With his ability, he should be able to cover TE's from a 3-point stance, rush the passer, and catch the RB in pursuit.

Ben is from Cincy and I played against him when I was a sophomore. He is really fast for how big he is. Not the most physical player ever(at least then) but I think he's gonna make a name for himself down there. Definitely a freak and he's only going to get bigger with UT's weightlifting program.

He's gotten many of UT's fans' hopes of up. Reports are that Martin has gotten up to about 250 and is still in the 4.5 40 range. Nevertheless, physical ability doesn't always translate to production. He'll be in rotation with Wes Brown, who is a bigger DE and is better at stopping the run. Hopefully he can make some plays on passing downs.

Yea I'll throw out Martez Wilson on this one. The man shouldn't be doing the things he does at his size. Still raw skill wise but through this year and the next he's going to be a ******* monster player.

Vontae is quite the freak too. He'll run in the 4.3's at the combine, he's built like a house, his explosiveness is ridiculous, and he hits like a truck. His mental game needs work but he's another guy who is just a freak.

Not saying those two are the biggest freaks in the nation but they are pretty incredible athletes.

Allen Bailey. I assume it's been said already by someone else, but if not, I understand why he's getting no love here, considering he hasn't done anything YET. But yeah, he's a freak, just go ask any Miami fan.
