View Full Version : Where will this site be in 5 years from now?

Hard to believe I've been posting here since the day Matt Leinart tore apart Oklahoma. I think I was the 30th member.

Where do you guys think this site will be in 5 years? Will it still be popular? Will you still be posting here? Also, how many posts will DG have by then? ;)

Ah, the memories. I was an avid fan of this site since 04. I never discovered the Forum feature till this past year. I don't know why, i just never imagined that it would be big enough to have a lot of posters.

I still remember to this day the first time i went into the forum. It was like the pearly gates opened, and a flow of sports information was coming at me from everywhere. I'm glad.

In 5 years, DG and JBond will runt he site because Scott will be offered a huge contract by the NFL Network.

In 5 years there will have been a change in power. JBond will reveal his evil plot, assasinate Scott Wright and take control for himself, renaming it KKSNFLDC, which of course stands for Kosta Koufos's Sexy NFL Draft Countdown. All users will be forced to wear Kosta Koufos sigs and avatars.

I'm actually curious to hear what Scott thinks about this.

The site will probably be more popular than it is now and there will an increase in posters. Unfortunately this means The Incredible Draft Dudes and other dodgy posters.

I'm not sure if I will still be posting here. I'll still be a fan of the draft so I think there is a chance that it could happen. However there is a better chance that I become a stalker.

In 5 years, the majority of the content will only be available for a monthly fee. The 3/4ths of the registered board members will be banned. Mel Kiper will be a moderator.

Tons...it used to be a small little community where everyone knew eachother.

Quickly it evolved...with a first mod...The whole draft forum was filled with cowboys posts...which eventually lead to the creation of the first team forum.

A couple of years later we changed from phbb based forum to vbulletin...and it lead to sub forums for teams and fantasy stuff.

The main change is obviously volume...this is the main reason you still see old timers whine about missing the old times...because they were the glory days. But there is more knowledge here now then has ever been so I think the forum has shown progressive development.

And the site itself had really changed too. Just look at web.archive.com and look at the site in 04 and then in 05 to now. Started out with (please take no offense Scott) cheap html programing, but has really gotten a much more professional design.

In all honesty, this site is more highly regarded than you guys realize. In the weeks leading up to the draft this year, there were plenty of articles that my local newspaper released that mentioned this site and Scott Wright with sites like ESPN and Scouts.com, and many of the other big ones. In five years, this site will be bigger, much bigger, with a ton more posters. It really is hard to predict actually. I've only been posting for a year and and a half there is so much that has changed since then even, in temrs of format, and posters,a nd content. I don't know if Scott will be as widely known as Mel Kiper or the likes of him, but with how the popularity of the draft is going, there si certainly a slight chance that it is possible. I probably will still be posting here, as I will always be a fan of the draft, but depending on how thigns go in the next five years, I may not. I highly doubt I stop though.

This is the first football web-site I have ever joined so, I know regardless it will be interesting. What I hope doesn't happen is, like many other web-based communities, older members drift away due to the change that has taken place since a sites' beginning and a great deal of the communities
web-history is lost. I joined the site because I saw the writing on the wall as Scott being an up-and-coming draft analyist and wanted to get on with someone with some knowledge in the area.

Sadly, many of the old members will be gone, and many new people will join.
NFLDC will be known by all followers of the draft.

As each year passes the site will continue to gain 15-17 year olds who find an interest in the draft and want to express their "knowledge" to this site. They will be shot down early, but will continue to fight as their love for the draft rises.

I think it really depends. If Scott ends up doing some TV and national work, you could see the membership and views of this site go up 10 or 20x in 5 years. I wouldn't be surprised.

This site is the bomb, i never posted on a forum untill i found this place (which was in 2006), i thought it was geeky. But the variety of opinions and people on here make it special IMO, and i have learnt more about the draft than i ever imagined. I can only see it improving from here, and it should continue to gain notoriety as the best free draft site on the net, and of course the best forums! :)

i was looking through all of the HOF'ers, and the majority don't even post here anymore. BUT, with all the great guys and posters who kinda fade away on here, more new guys come. Hopefully 5 years from now, I will have left my mark as the biggest homer(in a good way) and everyone who posts here, whenever they hear something about Rutgers, they think of me

I post on a few boards and when it comes to boards that have fans of all 32 teams on it this is by far the best one.

I like to see what fans of other teams have to say about players from around the NFL for the most part there are some knowledgeable fans on here.

ya, i had a different name on the site with about 800 posts prior to joining under the name i have now. You could really see the site blow up over the years, newer features, more snazzy option, and way more posters. I can't think of all that many posters i've recognized that are no longer here, except Keak the Sneak, but that could also be because i just don't pay attention.

Realistically, i expect Scott to get much more pub in the upcoming years. His name is already well known in the industry, and i expect that to continue to happen. I hope he continues to make his money from the site from advertising and chooses not to make this a subscription based site, but that could definitely turn out to be the best option for him down the line. If such happens, maybe it would cut down on the dumb posters (tom, great draft dude, etc.) but who knows.

I know that i will continue to come to this site for terrific draft info, from scott and other posters, and will get my up to the minute info regarding NFL news u can't get from other over hyped sites.

I think the forum will continue to grow. Every year, we add more good posters. You can log on anytime and have a lively discussion about any phase of football, any team in the NFL, or any topic you wish (within reason). I keep coming back because of the old posters that I know and respect, and the new people who have the potential to add so much more. Keep it up, and I'll stick around.

The "site" is probably too broad a question. The content throughout the site is excellent. (thanks, btw) It's a safe bet that nothing will change in that regard.

The forum, however, will suffer the fate of all forums . . .

There will be an influx of l33t speaking, immature, e-***** waving members who know everything despite knowing nothing - about anything. All while posting in ways that are barely comprehensible to anyone but themselves, and turning the rep system into the most childish highschool drama the interwebs have ever seen.

All of this will lead to a constant increase in the bitterness of "the old crew" members, who pine for the "good old days" while flaming the crap out of the newer, less respectful (and usually more lazy) members.

All further prognostications will be on a pay-per basis only. Thank you, come again.

Stuff like the annoying Jordy Nelson crap is kind of annoying, but at least that stuff dies. I also go through hot and cold time periods on here where some people are just annoying, but as a whole its a good time to keep on here

Well I have been here since almost the start. It will likely be the same as it is now. Noobs that join just to be apart of the draft atmosphere. Older Posters who fall by the way side due to (kind of funny) college. Some to family and some to jobs.
The site will become a pay site because of the amount of hits and the amount of 13 year old members that do nothing but spam.

I also have 3 times more posts here than there (despite being there 8 months longer), probably because I can stand out a little bit more here, so if this site continues to grow a lot I'd probably post less and less, probably not leave for good, but I'll be a lot less active.
