I can only grow a goatee, soul patch and mustache. No beard what-so-ever.

And it's not like i'm some pre-pubescent kid either, i'm gonna be 21 already.

Quick question, who here shaves in the shower?

I can't because I need a mirror to shave. Too scared of cutting my face up.

The only thing outside the usual stuff that i do in the shower is brush my teeth. Occasionally. Usually i take care of all that stuff once i'm out.

I don't but its not because I am afraid. Its because I will leave patches of places I didn't reach.

Shaving is beyond a pain in the ass and worst part is there was a time when we all couldn't wait to shave. I shave whenever I get that wild hair to do it. I have the $ goatee already so I'm good. But when I don't shave I do tend to get a fair amount of facial hair but can't just yet get it all connected for a full blown beard. Oh well Hockey season isn't that far off now is it......

I use disposable razors because it is actually better for your skin. Too often with reusable razors people tend to use them when the blade is dull, which isn't good for your face.

As far as shaving cream goes, I prefer foam over gel.

I had that problem when I was 17, used to just trim the full beard around a goatee.

I've always hated shaving but I had to start at 14.

I actually enjoy shaving, I bought a pair of grey Andis edge up clippers like they use in the barber shop and do my whole beard and edge up myself, haircuts started costing too much...I usually shave every friday before I get ready to go out, I'm trying to get my Ice Cube on right now so I'm growing it more then usual now.

I hate shaving. It's 10 minutes that could be used to do something more productive. Unfortunately if I let it grow out a little it comes out all patchy and I end up looking really stupid.

I just wish I could grow a beard like Scottyboy!!!!

Paul
06-21-2008, 10:07 PM
Doesn't annoy me to shave. What annoys me is the patchy growth around my cheeks, which looks like crap. I can grow a goatee and mustache fine, but that beard is an elusive one.

I have had to shave since the 7th grade. I am 18 now and I have to do it every 2-3 days. Its kind of annoying, but it isnt so bad. Plus, I always have some sort of facial hair. I just traded in my goatee for a soul patch. I tried out a french beard last year for 2 weeks, but it looked pretty bad.

I am so hairy.

I'm usually rocking some sort of facial hair, usually the beard, so i just shave my neck sans shaving cream every couple of days or usually just when i need to look decent. Neck beard is never a good thing, and should not be in view of anyone that matters.

I use an electric shaver, it's not the most effective thing but it's nice if you're lazy and want to do it quick and effortlessly. I shave about once a week right now and it only takes about 5 minutes.

On a side note, does anyone know any woman/girls that shave? I met a girl that said she shaves her face every once and a while, which makes me wonder if she used to be a man...

i hate shaving waste of time and money. I shave probably every 2 maybe 3 and a half weeks. Its a pain to shave when it gets thick. I used to grow that chin hair thing. Now i just take it all off, take me a while about 15 mins.

I use the mach 3 power, also one thing i found that is really nice after shaving is using
Neutrogena Men Razor Defense Post Shave Lotion. Leaves no razor bumbs or anything, and keeps your face extra smooth longer.

Also I can't shave one day after the other weird. I grow little stubble every where and if i try and shave them off the next day it burns and then tends t bleed. So i have to wait 3 days after I shave if i don't want to get cut, all the hair evens out.

i really dont hate shaving or anything, but I am lazy and have been clean-shaven maybe twice in the last year. Grow the mountain-man beard for the Wisconsin winter and would keep it for summer but working outside for 12 hours a day, it can get quite hot and uncomfortable so I usually just take the ol' trimmer to the 2nd shortest length and trim the beard down once a week. A nice lazy way to go where i dont have to shave every day but dont look like a bum either.

i used to be a retail manager and i would have to shave everyday regardless of the amount of facial hair.(clean shaven) it would give me razor burn on my neck somethin fierce. and i would have to keep shaving over the same razor burned parts of my neck, that is the worst part of shaving. now i have a job where i dont have to shave at all. by choice i haven't shaved in 3 weeks. i don't have a full beard but i do keep it trimmed up with the face clippers.

I've been shaving around 10 years now. I used to just do the goatee thing at first but for the last 7 years or so I go full beard. I dont like to shave, but I have done it in the shower with no mirror. I dont like for my beard to be too thick either, I just take the trimmer to it and trim it down to a more comfortable length. If I do shave it all off for some special occasion it will be completely back within a week.

I keep a beard full time but trim it up every week or so and take a fusion to my neck to get rid of the neckbeard. i use an electric on the neck first to trim it short as possible then use the razor to finish up. i know this sounds weird but I shave at night before i go to bed and it seems to really help with razor burn for whatever reason. i can't shave consecutive days because my neck looks absolutely horrible and bleeds.

Ive basically had a full beard since I was 15 because i hate shaving. Its the fraking worse. My facial hair is thick as a mofo too, blades barely last & electrics just cant get the job done.

This is because you are a real man. Real men have beards and have been able to grow them since they were children. Real men that have real beards have to use swords to trim those beards...since that is too much of a hassle they just don't shave.

I'm Indian, so naturally, I'm hairy as ****. I started shaving in 7th grade. Now I have to shave ever 2-3 days. It used to be a pain, but now its just part of the routine.

EDIT: I looked back at the beginning posts and realized I posted nearly the exact same thing in the summer of 2008...lol. But we all know how I shave:

I dont hate shaving, but I'm just lazy and don't do it until it becomes necessary. I would hate to have a job where you had to shave all the time though. I like getting a nice stubble going.

I let it grow for a few months to see what the beard was like. Pretty sketchy up until a month and a half in.

Don't even get me started on ingrown hairs and razor bumps.
Black man's plight....your face'll look like taco meat if left untreated.

Worst thing about it is, I only have a patchy-pube-like stubble that grows on my face. So I can't really grow a beard that accompanies all the headache, but I still get all the after effects.

My mustache is cool, my goatee is cool, but I can't really grow anything significant on my cheeks.
I'm forced to shave it every few days, or the ingrown hairs will occur and drive me crazy, which will result in me scratching my face raw.

I used to use razors, because it would increase the outbreak of the ingrown hairs. But now I just use my Philips electric razor and a WAHL to line up my mustache.....I've been wanting the electro treatments where they zap those hair follicles away....man that would be nice.

Quick question, who here shaves in the shower?

I can't because I need a mirror to shave. Too scared of cutting my face up.
I have chin straps, so therefor I'd butcher them if I did it in the shower.

Regarding the shaving part, it's a pain in the butt, but I like you said, love the after feeling. I probably should have shaved today, I'm due, but I chose not too.

Never had much facial hair at all, so it looks groaty when the "beard" comes in.

Still, shaving is required, with a blade, & I have a pointy chin which is problematic for it. Not so much hating the shaving, it's the bleeding that comes with it that I hate.

My dad gave me good advice when I started shaving at 16 or so: you need a mirror to do it properly, but it's better to shave in the shower b./c all the blood runs down the drain.

I love it. Faster, easier, don't have to be as precise. The annoying things are you pretty much have to use something like Lectric Shave, and sometimes my the shave gets caught on a hair and kind of tugs on it a bit which hurts for about 2 seconds. Also, it can be difficult to maneuver in area like under your jaw by your ear. But I still love it, and while I'm sure it wasn't a $20 dollar electric shaver, I'm also pretty positive it isn't one of the more expensive ones.

Take into consideration my facial hair doesn't grow in very thick so that might play a part in my preference.

My life changed the day that a random barber shared this pearl of wisdom with me. I haven't used shaving cream in five years, and I'll never use it again. It's for suckers.

Wow, this makes me feel so much better with not having used shaving cream most of the time. Now, I don't shave, however. I trim. I bought a trimmer a few years ago since I look pretty badass with stubs. So now i just trim down to about 2mm whenever my gf complains about my beard which is about every two weeks or so.

I only ever used shaving cream twice, tried it without, and haven't gone back, never will, now that I know I'm not alone. My dad used to think I was ******** until he saw I never had any trouble with cutting my face up or **** like that. I haven't truly shaved in a while anyway. I've just trimmed for the past year or so, so I haven't gotten a chance to not use it anyway.

Yeah... I hardly ever use shaving cream when I shave. I actually shave in the shower and use the hot water as a lubricant. I have a goatee and over the last few years I have just been able to go by feel. After I am done shaving I use a face cleaner to help prevent razor burn and the occasional pimple.

When I am done I get out and touch it up with the mirror over the sink, getting any spots I might have missed in the shower.

Shower shaving is the way to do it. When I shaved, I did in the shower. Only thing that sucked is I couldn't ever go more than two days without shaving without feeling like I'd clog up the drain. But then I decided I'd do a beard, and haven't looked back since.

my hair is short and ruff, and if i try dry shaving, the blade gets caught and i end up bleeding.

Everybody who has had facial hair for more than two years has rough facial hair. No excuses.

Seriously, how does that happen? I'd have to press like a ************ to actually cut myself while shaving... And I'm pretty sure I don't have iron-skin, so rule that out...

I got my head shaved yesterday but couldn't bring myself to get rid of the beard. Maybe i'll go another 12 months without shaving.
