I just saw on ESPN that the Jets will be trading or releasing him by this Friday. This is a big step in bring up Kellen Clemons. If Chad gets injured, it's all Clemons.

With Barlow and Ramsey both gone, who will take the role of worst player on the team? Schelgel?

If this happens it will mean 2 things.
1. Clemens will be the #2 QB.
2. Brad Smith might get QB reps during preseason

they'll bring in a vet for sure, Smith won't be the 3rd QB, he didn't throw one pass the whole season.

Mangini has said he likes having Brad Smith on the depth chart as a WR & QB he has takin reps in practice and clemens and ramsey didn't throw a meaningful pass all season and they were QBs. I'm pretty sure Tangini likes his versatility and he knows the system. He would save a roster spot. Though they still might bring in a vet, but maybe they feel Clemens came along well enough not to.

i think they'll add a 3rd true QB just as insurance because pennington is so injury prone, and clemens is young, and smith is young and its not known whether he could play QB in the nfl....also i think itll be a veteran so he could mentor clemons

i read on espn.com taht.....
Raiders quarterback Marques Tuiasosopo visits the Browns on Monday and has a trip planned to the Jets, who cut Patrick Ramsey.
that gives us QB depth, but i don't know if that gives us a for sure starter if god forbid pennington goes down again, tuiasosopo has proven nothing at QB for the raiders, but then again it was with the raiders, so that gives us two young unproven backups which could be good developmental-wise but could be bad in case there forced into the starting job due to injury

Brad Johnson/Kerry Collins are also two possibilities.

Personally I'd just keep Smith as the third QB. Pennington is fine as a mentor, and if you bring in a vet it means you really don't want Clemens to be the backup. Clemens is good enough to be a backup, and lets be realistic here, if you're down to your third QB you're pretty much screwed. May as well save a roster spot.

kerry collins re-signed with tennessee. i dont think brad would come to NY knowing hell probably be the third QB.
