PM anything you want. Its your favorites, it doesnt matter if yours are completely different from everyone elses or dont contain the critically acclaimed hits or anything like that. Any type of participation would satisfy me. (Okay, not ANY, but most.)

Not really. Empire for instance isn't really a continuation of A New Hope because it takes place months later and Empire and Jedi are such different movies tone wise that they don't work. The Lord of the Rings saga is basically one story spread throughout three movies, something Star Wars is not.

Yeah 3:10 is a fine movie, but no where near my top 25 or top 50. It surely doesn't discredit someones list if they don't have it. Matter fact no one movie discredits anyones' list, seeing that each is based on your own taste and opinions.

I am in University for film so while it pains me to leave off some of the great older films my list ended is made up mostly of movies that changed the way I look at cinema and most of those films happened to be newer. I also happen to think the 70's was the golden age of cinema so I have a lot of those.

I'm afraid my list doesn't help other great movies but I guess that is due to the decreased exposure they get in society combined with the fact that several of these movies I just have not seen. It could also be possible that a lot of posters whilst they may have seen some great movies, weren't able to appreciate them properly due to contexts which they couldn't quite comprehend at the time of viewing.

I disagree with a lot of the top movies that some people have but I'm pretty hard to please when it comes to film. The more artsy the less I'll like it. I don't like movies where I feel all the director did was jerk himself off. A perfect example of that is Fight Club. To hell with Fight Club. The first rule of Fight Club is that it's a stupid movie. Holy crap! Whose the director cuz I'm going to kick him straight in the gonads cuz that's lame.

Give me a movie with some depth to it like Cool Hand Luke or The Shawshank Redemption. I want hope. I want inspiration. I want to laugh. I don't want Memento. To hell with Memento. I piss on Memento. That artsy piece of garbage. Who gives a crap? I've seen porns with better plots than that film.

2. Casino Royale
3. Memento
4. Fight Club
5. Pulp Fiction
6. LA Confidential
7. Casablanca
8. The Godfather II
9. The Godfather I
10. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
11. Requiem for a Dream
12. LotR: Return of the Kind
13. A Clockwork Orange
14. Hot Fuzz
15. Donnie Darko

Just missed: Se7en, Goodfellas, Shawshank Redemption, The Departed (I actually should have made room for this), The Shining, One Flew Over a Cuckoo's nest, Chinatown, The Usual Suspects, Oldboy, Terminator 2.

There are just so many damn good movies. Its hard to pick which ones you like more. And its hard to leave so many good ones off the list.

For what movie? I think he could have done more with Ali, and i wasn't too impressed with his acting in The Pursuit of Happiness. Those are one of only a few movies that has actually required some above average acting.

I also hate the fact that his movies are stuffed with advertisements. I feel like i'm watching a commercial instead of a movie.

I know we had this argument already on this forum, but C'MON!! Denzel >>>>> Will Smith, and it isn't even close. Denzel's acting is on another level that Smith can only dream of.

Matt Damon is a far superior actor than Smith as well. I'd like to hear the arguments for Brody and Freeman though, as those are a lot closer than the others.

And like i previously stated, whether they're active or not has absolutely no importance to whether they're skillful actors or not. It's as simple as that.

Well i think our point has been very well made and supported, that Will Smith is not as good as hyped up to be.

I also like Mark Wahlberg. He may not be great in everything he does but he has given some brilliant performances, namely Boogie Nights and The Basketball Diaries.

I think he needs a great director (PTA, Scorcese, or David O. Russell) to give a good performance. And the supremely underrated Dylan Baker is better than Will Smith as well.

I think that can be said with 90% of all actors. Except for a few, the best acting roles of all-time have always taken place under a great director.

Jason Schwartzman is an incredible underated actor IMO. His work in Wes Anderson films and I Heart Huckabees has been brilliant.

Gladiator wasn't awful, but it wasn't amazing. I'm neither overjoyed or upset with #24.

I'm curious to see how some of the older movies rank. Most won't get the recognition they deserve.

I think he is talking about pre-1970. I predict no more than 2 films before 1970.

If it weren't for the best ending I've ever seen, it wouldn't have been mentioned in to many people's lists I don't think..

I'll PM my full list in a minute, but my top 5:

Fight Club
Truman Show
There Will Be Blood
Casino Royale
Seven

how does lord of the rings beat Casablanca. LOTR is not that good, especially since the books were great source material.

You forget all the many LOTR homers who claim it is the best trilogy of all time and the three films are among the best films ever made. There are quite a bit of these homers around. My hope is there are enough Godfather trilogy homers to counteract these LOTR homers.

They obviously never heard of the Naked Gun Trilogy, Mighty Ducks or Beverely Hills Cop trilogies!
