Which underclassmen do you think may declare eligibility for the 2009 draft?

Going by recent trends is it likely that around 50 will declare again next year (assuming the CBA doesn't impact)

Chris Wells, RB, Ohio State
Brandon Graham, DE, Michigan
Knowshon Moreno, RB, Georgia
Michael Johnson, DE, Georgia Tech
LeSean McCoy, Pitt
Maurice Evans, DE, Penn State

Just a couple to start off the discussion.

Myron Rolle will leave. He's being treated like a senior by the coaches, so they expect him to leave.

OSU is getting the feeling that CB Donald Washington might declare after this season. With a good year FS Anderson Russell might follow. RB Chris Wells and DE Lawrence Wilson are expected to.

Yeah my bad about Johnson.

I just think Evans is going to have a monster year and could be a top 20 pick. He's a very good all-around DE.

I don't see Maurice Evans going anywhere. He had a good soph season, but still has a long way to go to reach his potential.

There are alot of junior DEs with legitmate talent all of whom could easily come out

George Selvie, South Florida, (6-4, 242, 4.72)
Greg Hardy, Mississippi (6-4, 265, 4.73)
Maurice Evans, Penn State (6-2, 265, 4.76)
Greg Middleton, Indiana (6-3, 275, 4.87)
Jermaine Cunningham, Florida (6-3, 234, 4.72)
Ricky Sapp, Clemson, (6-4, 242, 4.58)
Everette Brown, Florida State (6-4, 252, 4.65)
Lawrence Wilson, Ohio State (6-4, 274, 4.72)
Auston English, Oklahoma (6-3, 258, 4.63)
Brandon Graham, Michigan (6-2, 270, 4.74)

Some will definately come out and some will stay; it will be very hard to predict how it turns out. But DEs are a premium and the junior DE class has alot more depth with quality talent than the senior class. I expect at least half of these guys to declare

Underwood is a senior, and after Teel we'll have either DC Jefferson or Tom Savage, so we'll be fine. I just think Britt will leave and cash in after he has a monster season this year

Dude, they're not going to start a freshman.

It'll probably be Natale or Pierre-Etienne. Jabu needs to move to safety.

BTW, Selvie is very overrated. Doubt he declares early.

you'd rather start Natale or Pierre-Etienne instead of DC Jefferson or Savage as freshman? why don't we just throw that year down the toilet?

Jabu to safety? why? We've got enough young talent at DB, especially with this current class and the 09 class. Lefeged will be only a sophomore this year, and hopefully Kitchen can come back in 2 years.

Jonny

How's that throwing the season down the toilet? Even the best freshmen usually can't come right in. Both of those guys were pretty good recruits. Natale actually looked very good in the spring game, while Jabu was terrible as usual.

No we don't have enough young talent at DB. We'll need two starters next year. Obviously Lefeged will be one, he's a big hitter like Greene. Kitchen's the same kind of player, and there's no guarantee he'll come back. Lefeged needs to be paired with a cover safety. The only guy right now who could conceivably do that is Davon Smart. Khaseem Greene will be in the mix too, and possibly Joe Martinek as well.

We're VERY thin at safety next year, partially due to the Kitchen injury, partially because we lost a safety named Jojo Nicholas to Miami two years ago near signing day. If you want to talk about freshman contributing, there's a good chance that Sanu will see time early next year ala Greene and Lefeged in the past, he's even enrolling early. Safety is a spot where you can contribute early, QB isn't.

While Savage and Jefferson are both good physical talents, they're both seen as incredibly raw, Jefferson especially. No way they'll see early playing time.

Martinek's been getting alot of reps at RB. With Young coming off surgery and Robinson a question mark carrying more and more of the load, Martinek will most likely stay at RB rather than safety.

And you can't just move a mobile QB to safety. Can he cover? can he hit? sure he's big and fast, but that doesn't mean jack ****.

Jefferson is very raw, that's true. But Savage has played in pro style systems and seems to be more ready than most out there. So Natale looked good in the spring game, that's not all that big a deal really. Going up against most likely mainly backups. It'll be a battle when Teel graduates, but Savage is probably our best option to start.

Jr. FS/ SS Kam Chancellor from Virginia Tech. is a physical speciman. 6'4" 220 4.5 speed, lethal hitter and athlete.

Jr. OG Sergio Render is another guy with a ton of potential. 6'4" 320, very powerful. Started from his first game of true freshman year. All freshman and All Sophmore All-American his first two years.

I'm starting to really like him, but I don't know to much about him at this point other than he's got triangle numbers that are as good as Taylor Mays' and Myron Rolle's without all the hype.

Well, he hits harder than either of them. He's a better athlete than Rolle, and has the ability to play both free and strong safety. Two star quarterback in highschool, now he's a star safety. Very, very hard worker.

I am curious as he is listed a sa possbile prospect for 09 by at least one draft site.

If he is eligible he could be interesting as his physical tools are alof better than almost all of the other possible TEs

No, he is not. Last season was his true freshman year. Looking at his measurables he seems like he will be 2010's top TE prospect. He's got speed enough to stretch the field and he is big enough to stay in line and block effectively.
