Of course not. It is a rare occurrence like a comet passing by the earth, seeing a super nova explode, discovering a habitable planet, or seeing aliens.

Jordy is like Super Man. The last of his kind. Except he has no weaknesses like that fool Super Man. Kryptonite? Please..

I guess we are the lucky ones then considering we have been able to witness the amazement that is Jordyz.

Dicky Lyons jrzzzzzzzzz, WR, Kentucky. He's around 5'11, runs in the 4.4's and he will be Kentucky's unquestioned #1. We might not have a starting QB yet but we don't have any #2 wide out's either so he should put up some numbers.

Does it count if he acts black though he's white?

24cadillac24: "Any white running backs, wide receivers or corner backs coming out this year that can actually play?"

RB

Luke Lippincott of Nevada put up very respectable stats (1420 YDS 15 TD 5.32 YPC) last year and figures to duplicate this season.

Kyle Bell of Colorado State is the more physically impressive runner but looked like his knee was still bothering him last year. Not sure if he'll get the chance to bounce back but the physical tools are there.

WR

Among the seniors, I think Andy Brodell of Iowa is physically the closest to Jordy. He was injured last year but don't sleep on him, I think he will break out this year.

Jordan Shipley of Texas has the closest name resemblance. He's very fast as well. Put together a pretty good season last year.

Dicky Lyons as already mentioned will have the spotlight all to himself in Kentucky. He's pretty quick but not as big as the other guys.

Kevin Jurovich of SJ State had a monster season (85 REC 1183 YDS 9 TD) last year and it was his first year playing wide receiver.

Chezpower4: "I think that last white CB in the NFL was Jason Sehorn and there may never be another haha"

There's two currently: Dustin Fox of the Bills and Steve Gregory of the Chargers.

There are plenty of guys who have had the speed/athleticism to play corner in recent years: Eric Weddle, Stuart Schweigert, Matt Giordano, Kevin Kaesviharn, Jarrod Cooper. But if they don't get converted to safety in college, they almost certainly will be once they get to the NFL.

Chris Conte of Cal and Jordan Peterson of Texas A&M are both promising corner prospects who started as freshmen. Unfortunately, new coach Mike Sherman has already converted Peterson to safety.

*Edit - Oh and WR Riley Cooper of Florida is already a beast, there shouldn't be any Jordyz-esque controversy surrounding him.

He was streaky last year, not "awful". Texas A&M's entire defense was awful. I wouldn't lay the blame at his feet. They were ranked 104th in sacks. He was Freshman All Big-12 and honorable mention All Big-12 his first season. To me, you don't move a guy like that after one down year in which your entire team didn't play up to par. He's one of the smallest and fastest DB's on the team and has the most starting experience at corner. Now he's going to be the strong safety? Give me a break.

Great post. I only have one addition to that list: North Dakota State RB/FB Tyler Roehl. The 232 lb junior ran for 1431 yards and 21 TDS on 207 carries last year, including a 263 yard performance against Minnesota.

Andy Brodell has some similarities to Jordy... but with inferior hands. I don't know if he'll be able to put up enough numbers this season to seriously get back on the NFL radar.
I think Jordan Shipley may have a slight edge on him as he'll likely have better stats by season end and he's quite fast.
I also think some people might be sleeping on Nate Swift from Nebraska.

2010 is the year of the white receiver though (ˇˇˇcomplete with obligatory white WR comparisons!!!):

Austin Collie, BYU ----> Kevin Curtis
Eric Decker, Minnesota ----> Somewhere between Hass and Jordy
Riley Cooper, Florida ----> Matt Jones

Collie better than Curtis
Cooper better than Matt Jones

Have to seriously disagree with those two statements

jared

@Babylon

I happen to have a very high opinion of both Kevin Curtis and Austin Collie (who I will be hyping plenty come next year).

Curtis had one of the more dominant two years in FBS history. Collie has an outside chance to match it but he's going to have to pick up the pace. Either way, they are both guys who can get open short or stretch the field. Both have good hands (though Collie has had some lapses this year). Collie is a little bigger and more physical but I'm not sure he is quite as fast as Curtis - though he's still very fast. Curtis is a very good NFL WR when he gets the chance to start. I just hope Collie gets his chance in the spotlight sooner than Kevin.

Riley Cooper is an athletic freak who hasn't gotten much playing time (hence the Jones comparison). He has all the potential in the world though, he just needs to see the field more in order to better evaluate him. Jones has turned himself into the go-to guy in Jax, so I don't consider that comparison an insulting one. Cooper is a junior now and to my knowledge he has never started a game. Maybe next year we can see what he's really capable of.

*keep in mind, I was flippantly limiting my comparisons to white NFL WRs, so the pool to choose from is not that huge.

This had to be quoted again....classic.

I hate to do the typical classification of white receivers....but in this case it really does apply: Decker is a prototypical possession receiver.

Obligatory comparison ---- Joe Jurevicius

I think he's a legit #2 in the league....4.7 or not.

Jordan Shipley was huge today, even took a kick back for a Texas touchdown. Sort of plays a little like Anthony Gonzalez but really reminds me of Wes Welker. There are probably a lot of GMs that arent having a tough time picturing him playing in the slot at the next level.

He had a great game. I'd say he's more Gonzo than Welker based on size and speed. However, Shipley might be hard pressed to match their agility times. Either way, he's gonna be playing on Sundays. I think he should earn his way into Scott's top 20 senior receiver rankings soon with an outside chance at top 10 by season's end.

I'm probably the 50th person to think this but Shipley probably has raised his draft stock from priority UDFA at the beginning of the season to a 3rd round pick with his play so far this season. He's had good hands and excellent vision after the catch so far.

Indeed you are correct, sir. I think 3rd might just be where he ends up going. I'm glad to see him rebound after injuries almost derailed his career. He was a killer prospect coming out of HS and he has good speed. That kick return turned the tide today against Oklahoma.

You just had to mention an Iowa player didn't you? That's a slow day for Decker. Brodell isn't even close to being in the conversation.

And he's gonna be a steal for someone in the third round. He would be perfect for a west coast offense team, or a spread em n shoot em type of offense. He's great in the slot, and despite being injury prone his first few years, he still has very, very good speed.

This was brought up earlier today in the College Football forum, and i think he definitely deserves the z's in his name.

Shipley's got speed and hands so he could be a high pick. A couple more big returns wouldn't hurt either. Anthony Gonzalez is not a bad comparison for Shipley as a slot guy, but Gonzalez is more smooth while Shipley is more straight-ahead fast.

Brian Hartline is built almost the same (except the 40 pound difference; I know who am I kidding?) and plays the same, although I don't think he is quite as good after the catch. They look similar, too, although it is unlikely that he comes out. Maybe he can be 2010's Z Carrier.

Clay Matthews Jr.

It's sort of a catch all for guys that get hyped, of course it sort of morphs into your favorite white guy but i know Josh Freeman has been mentioned a bit.

Matthews is sort of interesting, i think he has a real knack for getting to the QB, reminds me a little of Mike Vrabel at OSU who also was a great pass rusher. He's probably going to get a 3rd or 4th round grade but i'm not sure he might not have a better career than some of his more famous teammates.

Exactly what I was thinking. I doubt he goes as high as them because he hasn't had the experience. He really just came on this year and even then USC uses him less than Cushing and Maualuga. I think he could be a mid round steal and have a better career too though.

Brodell is about the same size as Nelson, 6'3 210, and a little faster, with worse hands.

Who has better numbers in Big Ten play, Brodell or Decker?

3 Big Ten games, Brodell 17 catches 300 yards 3 tds.

Brodell has been mentioned since torching the Texas secondary in the alamo bowl to a tune of 165 yards and 2 scores. This was two years ago, before you joined the board, as usual.

6'3 210 white wr's with 10.4 track speed aren't allowed to be compared to a 6'3 215 white wr with similar track speed?

Just because they are Hawkeyes, or why?

Austin Collie! BYU junior WR is 6-2, 206 and has 4.50 speed. 47 catches, 673 yards and 8 TDs so far this year. 53 catches for 771 yards and 8 TDs as a freshman, 56 catches for 946 yards and 7 TDs as a soph. Has football bloodlines, as his father played in the CFL and he honed his high school game in California which has some of the top competition in the country and he was a top 5 nominee for the 2003 California Mr. Football award. He's also white. Colliezzzzzz!

Actually Brodell doesn't have better Big Ten numbers.

Decker in 3 B10 games

27 catches 328 yards 1 TD

Decker has more catches and yards, Brodell has more TD's.

I think this might be the one.
