Former Nebraska football players Will Shields is among this year's 10 inductees for the Nebraska Black Sports Hall of Fame.
Shields made a name for himself in the National Football League after leaving Nebraska in 1992. Shields was a 12-time Pro Bowl selection for the Kansas City Chiefs.
In 2003, Shields was the recipient of the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, for his work in The "Will to Succeed" Foundation, the charitable organization he started in 1993.
On April 15, 2007, following 14 seasons with the Chiefs, he announced his retirement from football.
The former Husker football player was the 1992 Outland Trophy winner. He is widely considered to be a first-ballot Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee when he becomes eligible.
