Like a normal NFL draft, but only players who've played in at least one of the 42 Super Bowls are eligible. Lookng for 5-7 more knowledgeable, reliable posters. Right now it'd be 25 rounds(11 O, 11 D, K, P, coach) but we could expand with more WR's/KR's/RB's and whatnot.

i thought it was such a good idea too...:(

Yeah, i'm actually surprised we don't have much attention. It's a pretty good idea

If you want a suggestion to make things interesting, you can only pick 1 player from each Super Bowl.

You realize that you can't just pick players from the Super Bowls you were alive for because then you will miss out on a lot of quality players. I mean, you would only be able to pick from the last 9 Super Bowls.

I'll do it, though I like TP's idea, makes it more than just an all-time draft

Exactly. Considering almost every great player has played in a Super Bowl, it would make it much more unique. I'll join if my idea goes through.

scottyboy
08-01-2008, 04:35 PM
One from each Super Bowl is interesting, it really is. I don't know though, how the hell am I suppsed to beef it up with all Giants players? I'll update the front, we'll discuss this idea and start. should I let freebirdsrams in or no?

that name makes me sick.

we'll have a vote, I'm kind of against it, let guys pick whoever really make it a bit easier and fun(considering I've only been paying attention for like 7 super bowls lol) but whatever's cool with me

But as JBond said, what is the difference between this and an all-time player draft. I would say with the exception of pre-super bowl players and Barry Sanders, almost every other player has been in a Super Bowl.

Shane P. Hallam
08-01-2008, 04:44 PM
I guess one could say is that you are taking a player from a specific SB (year). Can a player be picked more than once if they were in multiple super bowls?

good catch, forgot to mention that. PLAYERS CAN ONLY BE SELECTED ONCE TOTAL!!!!

I guess I could do the one from every Super Bowl. I've got my 4 Giants picks all ready to go :D

you guys ready to start this like now? Just want an official vote on keepig freebirdsrams(if not I'll give him rep sex) and see if anyone despises the every Super Bowl pick...

I'm guessing since we're picking the Superbowl in which they played in, it has to be that certain year they were having.

Plus, to clear the air...

Yes, i had agreed to swap picks with Scotty. If that wasn't cool with Renji, since they had spoken previously about their picks, that's fine.

Lawrence Taylor was indeed the first choice on my BB that i had sent Scotty originally.

Well, if this is a Super Bowl draft, and we are selecting the Super Bowl, I imagine we are picking that player based on their talent at the time of the game. So, my Rice is in 1989 with his 11 receptions and 215 yards :D

MetSox17

IMO, I think you should need at least 1 FB and 1 TE.

I'm feeling the needing at least a FB and TE. BUT since it is only FB, I'll allow that to be from whenever Super Bowl. So your FB is your exception!!! YAY!!!!

BAH! oh well, I've got 2 in mind so there!

Diab is up, lots of nice picks thus far, can't wait til we get a little later in the rounds. I think everyone should have a depth chart post to make it easier on everyone.

And how I picture it is taking whatever player and having the Super Bowl just being the requirement. Like Singletary is my pick from Super Bowl XX, I'm picking as I'm getting Mike all around, not just the Super Bowl XX Mike.

Does that not defeat most of the purpose of a Super Bowl draft?

CJSchneider

Does that not defeat most of the purpose of a Super Bowl draft?

It depends.
One could look at it as
A) Draft consisting of only players who have been in a Super Bowl

or

B) Draft evaluated on SUper Bowl performance

I love these either way!

Shane P. Hallam
08-02-2008, 07:24 PM
I'm not saying specifically Super Bowl performances, but their talent at that time. If it is just players in a super bowl, then this is essentially an all-time draft without Barry Sanders and real old school guys.

If it is drafting players from specific years of super bowls, you may be pigeon holed into taking high quality players and deciding when they were of the highest quality.

Yea, I typed that all wrong. I meant not their Super Bowl performance but at that time of their career. Again, I chose the 92 Bruce Smith because I didn't want the 90 one, when they played the Giants. It can use a lot of strategy either way

CJSchneider
08-02-2008, 07:38 PM
Persoanlly, I think that we have enough moving pieces in this as it is.

A) Draft players who have been on a Super Bowl roster
B) One Super Bowl pick per drafter
(IE, no picking two or more players who played in the same Super Bowl)
C) Based on player performance at the time of the SuperBowl
(Not their Super Bowl performance -per say)

In the end, it could be tough to evaluate who a clear-cut winner is.

2.) does this mean we will
a) allow someone else to come in anf take his place with the picks he has made
b) continue on without him, not replace him and throw his picks back into the pot?

Either way, I'm good. I'll wait to pick until clarification.

Do we have to draft a TE and a FB?

I think that depends on what kind of offense your running

Turtlepower

1 TE and 1 FB is mandatory. I thought we agreed to that earlier?

Gay Ork Wang

never made it mandatory. I said we could add rounds later for FB/TE.

I think TE SHOULD be mandatory, but not so much FB...

Honestly, we should have settled this prior to any picks. Sticks in the wind I say, make your style of Offense work.
