I know there's a movie thread, but this movie is going to blow peoples minds.

The film might not end up being violence-less PG-13 all audiences-will-get-happy-cuddles because and I quote McG explained “I’ve been given their blessing to make the picture…and if it’s a rated R picture, then that’s that.” He elaborated that he’s not against the idea of a PG-13 rating, but that the ultimate rating will depend completely upon what the final vision for the film is.http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/07/26/mcg-talks-terminator-salvation-details-debunks-pg-13-rating-rumors/

The Nolan brothers (of the new Batman movies) did the bulk of the writing for the script too despite what the IMDB page says.

More on the movie:

At this morning’s Terminator Salvation panel featuring McG and the cast of the film (http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/07/26/terminator-salvation-footage-wows-skeptics-with-badassery/#), the director unveiled several minutes of footage from the upcoming film. McG mentioned that filming is only 50% complete and that no CGI had been added yet.
The footage opens with a descending overhead shot of John Connor (Christian Bale), barely emerging from the scene of a helicopter crash. “Are there any survivors?” a cackling radio (http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/07/26/terminator-salvation-footage-wows-skeptics-with-badassery/#) voice asks? “One,” Bale says quietly, then again, shouting, for emphasis. He walks off into the distance, as we begin to hear Bale’s dialogue in the film.
The rest of the trailer takes place in various places in 2018, when Earth has become a bombed out, post-apocalyptic hellscape after the rise of Skynet. Amongst other scenes, we see a face to face confrontation between Connor and Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), in which Bale threateningly declares, “If I let you down, you’ll kill everyone in this room,” and then later, “You tried killing my mother. You killed my father (http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/07/26/terminator-salvation-footage-wows-skeptics-with-badassery/#). You will not kill me.”

A young Kyle Reese (Anton Yelchin) delivers the “Come with me if you want to live” line and we see several obscured shots of T-600s, hideous combinations of metal and rubbery flesh. A topless (but covered by her hands) Blair Williams, played by Moon Bloodgood, shares a poignant look with Wright. At one point in the trailer, Connor and Reese share a meaningful exchange. Various action shots, full of shooting, running, and massive explosions are concluded by a shot of Bale screaming at the close sight of a metal cyborg hand.
As the trailer ended and the title card faded onto the screen, the audience went wild. I personally was not expecting to be impressed, but the trailer actually left me wanting more(!). The complete lack of CGI and practical effects was, as always, refreshing in this day and age of Hollywood action blockbusters. More interestingly, McG is an extremely engaging panel presence, and worked very hard to assuage fanboy fears that this film would be a bastardization. I’m not completely sold on the film yet, but the footage was a great start and certainly the presence of Bale played no small part in that.
McG also announced that a Salvation trailer would be attached to this fall’s Quantum of Solace, so you can catch some more footage then and decide for yourselves what to think.

ehhh Terminator its been done no need for another set of Terminator movies. Are they trying to make this into like a james bond type of thing?

How about recreating the original Terminators?

I was kind of disappointed that Bale was announced for this role.

well considering this one takes place after Judgement Day, so it's really Terminator 4...and the new James Bonds are supposed to be before all the other ones, like how he started, I don't really see any similarities

and actually, I think people have been waiting since the first one to see one take place during the actual war with the machines

Blow peoples minds? Not many minds were blown when the trailer was posted in the movie thread a week ago.

Oh well.

Hopefully its watchable. If not, Bale still deserves the useless payday after all the great acting hes done in the last 3-4 years.

I'm a sci-fi geek, so this is the movie I've been waiting for. I think Christian Bale will do just fine.

With the new Bond films, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade are basically doing what Nolan did with Batman and starting clean. I think they are going by the books and ignoring the other films.

EDIT: for those curious, the new trailer will debut with Quantum of Solace (November 7)

So, it's looking like this one will focus on the war itself, instead of sending robots back in time to protect/terminate people, etc, correct?

I'd say it appears that way, joe.

Yeah which should be good considering every other machine vs human idea in cinema history has been ruined some how.

I'm not sure I understand this....Terminator and Terminator 2 were both incredible movies, some of my favorites. How exactly were they "ruined" here?

I'd argue that Rise of the Machines wasn't too bad either.

Meh, I grew up on the Connery and Moore bonds and have found the books almost unbearably boring so I'm not really sure what they're doing is all that good. Casino Royale really disappointed me, felt like a 2 hour season of 24.

No, I dont think so. Some dude named Roland Kickinger took over that role, I heard.

James Bond is all about blowing things up and action and then banging some random chick who might have some std or something, but Bond is immune so no need to worry. I like the last movie but still adding a little more cool effects wouldn't hurt.

They want to make Bond into a normal character not someone invincible and untouchable. I read that somewhere, it might be a good idea, but this is James Bond we are talking about I don't think they should change him.

Any ways about the Terminator movies, I loved the second one.

I was trying to say, if they make this movie then the may keep making more Terminator movies that take place in the future each time with a different story line or some crap like that, which makes no sense with the previous movies.

If they make a Terminator movie, I liked to see one called Terminator 1.5, where John Connor, is in the future and manages to stay alive and send the Terminator to save his life as a teenage boy.
