View Full Version : Greatest Movie Villains
This is inspired by Heath Ledgers performance as the joker in the dark knight, but who do you guys think are the greatest villains in movie history? What I'm thinking with this thread is to have people nominate great villains, 3 votes for a villain will put them on the ballot of the final 8, after that we'll have a head to head single elimination vote to see which villain progresses to the next round, so on and so forth until only one man/woman is standing.
My vote goes to Yamazaki Asami from the japanese film Audition.

Eh, the girl from Audition I wouldn't consider a great villain. She was just pretty screwed up.
Best movie villain clearly goes to LEATHERFACE!

Norman Bates.
To complete the posting trifecta.. I wouldn't say he's the best villain, but I really hated Percy from the Green Mile. That guy was a massive prick.

Gary Oldman in Leon: The Professional is pretty badass too.

Ivan Drago was awesome. I must break you....
My two favorites have to be Joke and anton chigurh which was javier bardem's character in No Country for Old Men. Drago's def. up there.

I thought she was incredible a they soft spoken, sweet sadastic killer, also figured no one else would mention her whereas my top choice would definately make the final 8 so I decided to give her a shout out.
I'll tally all of the vote when I get back from work. Glad to see so much response to this, seen a lot of my favorites, gary oldman from leon, anton chigurh, the joker, nure ratchett and john doe curious to see what you guys can add to that.

Darth Vader is the best. Joker certainly makes a case, let's see if it stands test of time though. How about the ring from LOTR? Not your conventional villain but no doubt pure evil without a face.

It was basically how the character was so intelligent and evil and had such an impact on the movie when he was in it for only like 20 minutes. Hell, he was better than the John Doe ripoff and Xerxes (what the hell?).

King Kong (if he counts)
Hannibal Lector
And does Tyler Durden count as a villain :D? I guess hes more of an anti hero

How do u figure? I guess technically u are right, but throughout the whole movie, no matter how long it has been since u saw him, u are afraid of Hannibal. Petrified actually. At least for me; I find myself talking myself into forgetting about him, but I cant feel secure even today after I have seen the movie a million times. He is by far the creepiest and scariest movie character of all time imo. I think he is a villain because he screws with ur mind and scares the piss out of you. Not to mention the fact that he disembowels 2 cops and string up their dead bodies in a ritualistic killing........
