It's in the Colts forum, but yeah apparently he has retired.

It says the Colts could get some money back, but what a waste of a third round pick. This is very odd on his part.

maybe he lost the heart for the sport, he a better person for doing this and not wasting a spot on the Colts roster plus cap space.

Or maybe he's just not good enough at the pro level and he knows it.

Wow that is a surprise thought he would get some playing time in the rotation this year. Maybe the game is not fun now that it is his job. Or maybe he would rather pursue another career.

If this was known prior to last years draft then it explains why he fell.

Don't you have to play a certain number of years to officially retire? He basically just quit.

he has personal issues, so that could be just about anything.

harsh for the colts though, wasted 3rd round selection.

That's a shame. I really liked him coming out.

Oh well, one more roster spot for someone who actually wants to play. I think this really helps Eric Foster's or Colin Ferrell's chances of making the team.

Dungy had said last friday that there would be info released about Pitcock on Monday, a lot of people were expecting it to be this.

well it's still tough to lose a player, especially one who may have done some good next season.

He almost retired after being drafted. That's why he was the last pick to sign, or very near the last at least. Sounds like he didn't want to play pro football that much, guess it's not for everyone.

Then why not train hard and milk some extra cash?

He lost his heart.

Coming out of Ohio State, I knew he was another version of Tim Anderson..... Just another player with the nicknames of "high motor", "lunch pal"....... You couldnt get anymore mediocre than Tim Anderson.

I can understand where he is coming from. It might sound dumb, but I would not want to play pro football for ten years, football for twenty. It takes a toll.

Oh, and this sounds like it pertains to the Falcons. Something that would happen to them.

Even lower end wage in NFL is still really good.

Yeah to be the third string DT and come in for about 1 third of the plays and a couple of ST units for 500k a year sounds like a pretty good option to me.

You guys realize how much physical work the players have to put in? If you didn't want to play, you would still have to go to all the workouts, practice with the team, memorize playbooks, study film, go to meetings, etc. It's just too much to do when there are jobs that require far less that pay well. Obviously not as much as the NFL but he wouldn't have to work as hard. And if he doesn't want to play, the idea of doing all that work seems like it would suck.

Well thank god the Giants didn't waste a pick on him.

You gotta respect him for doing what he wants and not just for the money. If he hates doing it he'd be more happy making alot less doing something he loves.

WOW... It's always sad to see a hall of fame player stop playing because of any issue, I wish Quinn the best and I know we will see him in Canton in the years to come.

ESPN is going to shift from Favre's comeback to Quinn Pitcock's comeback in a few days..... Just wait.

Why even focus on Favre when you have news like this... The balance of power goes to the NFC after this.

500k a year to sit in the best seats in the house, work out to my physical peak and sit in on team meetings etc. I could do it.

trust me, its not for everyone. I know exactly how quinn feels. I had some offers to play ball at some small schools in college, but I knew I wouldn't be able to do it as soon as my last game was done my senior year of high school. when you're burnt out, you're burnt out, and there's really no other way to describe it. there's so much more to life other than football, and nobody likes to be stuck in a career that they can't stand to wake up to.it also still pisses me off that the dolphins went after ricky williams' bonus money, essentially holding him financially hostage and forcing him to come back and play at the veteran minimum. especially for a guy with social anxiety disorder who hated being famous and being in the spotlight in the first place. sure, he quit in the middle of a contract, but how much money did the dolphins make off of his name in terms of merchandising and sales? still irks me to this day.

I used to get up a 5am and run and workout before school, then I'd work afterward at a supermarket to pay for my membership to a gym / equipment then I used to come home and work out and do homework.

I did this for 6 years and stopped last year when I started Uni and a better job. I used to box and play soccer as well as getting almost straight Bs and As. I know that hardwork something like that takes.

I can understand wanting to quit, all I am saying is that if all I had to do was work out and cop a beating and get paid for it I'd do it. Hell I used to do probably as much study as the average NFL player does of his playbook and I used to have to spend money to take my beatings.

I can empathise with him though, if I didn't love what I was doing I wouldn't have done it, hell when I lost my love for it I quit.

You don't know how hard it is to play and to be in the nfl. The truth is that you are sitting on your ass bragging about your life and nobody cares. If you don't wanna see the truth not my fault and yes sorry to be here tonight sitting on my ass because I'm sick...I'm so lazy. I should take example and be just like younot

Probably lost the love for the game or he knew he was going to spend his whole career standing on the sidelines so he wanted to find a new profession.
