Thank god, now he should be happy. Terms of the deal are not yet released, but I'd guess it's in the neighborhood of 10 mill a year. He deserves it imo.

He's an elite player, there's been threads for worse players.

I'm sorry i'm not an ignorant homer. I'll try to fix that.

A homer? I'll take your opinion with a grain of salt because you've yet to actually prove me wrong. All you've done so far is throw insults and call names.

I'll take this argument to the apropriate thread because I don't want this locked.

This isn't a FA signing, and it isn't a release. This appears to be a significant extension for a star player who was unhappy with his contract. I think it is thread worthy. If not, the mods can lock it.

I'm just glad our biggest weapon will be happy. I don't want him to catch the Shawn Alexander bug though, but he definitely is not one to do something like that. He realized the Eales worked hard for him, and he will do the same, go Westbrook, I hope you outplay this contract.

Westbrook has Booker pushing him. If he sucks, he will get cut just like everyone else on the team.

And Booker is pushing him, that is another reason Westy will not let the Eagles down, but Booker has a bright future, and when the time comes for Westbrook to leave, whether it be throught retirement or release or whatever the circumstances, I will be upset Westy is gone, but excited to see what Booker can do with an increased role.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, Booker looks very promising but saying you are already ready to see what he can do as a starter is kinda crazy at this point.

Congrats to Westbrook and very classy move by the Eagles, he's an elite back and the best player on the Eagles' roster, so it's hard to argue that he's not worth whatever this additional money actually is. The only thing that can really stop him is injuries, hopefully he can stay healthy for many more seasons.

Really reminds me of Thurman Thomas who was one of my favorite players growing up, Westbrook being one of my favorite players to watch now.

His new deal will make him 21$ million over the next three years with escalators taking it to 24 if hit. http://www.philly.com/philly/hp/news_update/20080808_Westbrook_gets_new_deal.html

good for him, one of my favorite players even as a division rival

Good deal for the Eagles as long as he stays healthy the offense is going to be good.

One of the most underrated players of my time. (IMO) Glad to see they gave him an extension.

I was thinking Sjax too, not LJ. Though I still think LJ is pretty good, I hate how this board dismisses him after 1 bad year with injuries =X

it has nothing to do with injuries, it's the carries.

Remember all the carries he had in 2006? Those probably had a lot to do with his injuries in 2007.

westy can make the case for second best RB right now, only LT is the sure fire one ahead of him. AD could have a case, or Steven Jackson, but even if I wasn't an Eagles fan, I would puyt him as the #2 RB in the league. I will say though, that AD could leapfrog him this year with a great performance.
