Georgia DT Jeff Owens hurt his knee today.

Hopefully it isn't too serious...

Wow, you scared me. I read too quickly and thought you meant Chad Owens. Phew!

Fortunately he does have a redshirt available to him if he wants it.

Can you say undrafted?

He was overrated for one, now a serious injury and not being able to play his senior year is going to kill his stock.

The plan is for him to redshirt and return next year that's what Richt said on his show today. The leaves the door open for Kade Weston who has NFL size and has played and started since his freshman year. Kade his hurt though and will miss the next game. Keep a eye on Senior Cory Irvin who will see a lot more playing time. He had 6 tackles, 2 TFL, 1 sack and 2 PBU in the game this week.

It is a ACL

I was previously wondering if junior teammate Geno Atkins might declare early, with Owens graduating and Stafford possible declaring himself.

Now? Maybe Atkins stays for his senior season to play with Owens, or then again, maybe this helps his chances of getting drafted sooner if Owens isn't in the prospect pool. It will be interesting to see if Owens' injury affects Atkins' decision after the season.

Or he could just leave after this year anyways, and think he'll make a good enough impression at the combine.

Worked for Antonio Cromartie

I think C>H is closer to the truth than this IMO anyway. He needs to stay another year and not get hurt again or else he won't be drafted anywhere near as high as he should.

No Doubt. Jeff Owens is no where near the talent Justin Harrell or Antonio Cromartie were when they entered the draft after missing most of the season. Jeff Owens was as overrated as they come...Alan Branch, Gabe Watson and Roderique Wright type overrated.

I dont think he will go undrafted, this guy will have a great combine and DTs this year will not be anything close to last year. He has everything you want, only problem is he didnt produce. He is very athletic for a DT and one of the strongest players physically in the NCAA.
