Couldn't have said it better myself. Hopefully another 34-0 beat down like last year at Lambeau. Aaron Rodgers 432 yards, 5 Tds book it :D haha ok I do have lots of confidence in him though and think that even as a rookie basically he will have a great season

How about the deer in the headlights look? Is that something Rodgers can learn, or must it be instinctive?

How about the deer in the headlights look? Is that something Rodgers can learn, or must it be instinctive?

It's innate; Jackson must've been raised deep in the backwoods of Southern Alabama and overtime that "skill" revealed itself

Well Vikings have certainly given us some bulletin board material especially from Allen. I believe he said something along the lines of putting his helmet to grants spine and getting the ball loose. Classy

We shut down Allen last year and we can shut him down again. I've got every faith in Rodgers to put in a decent performance. The only thing I'm worried about is our interior OL.

I was gonna say the same thing; other than Tamba Hali the Chiefs had very little else on the defensive line for opposing teams to worry about

Yeah, this Vikings defensive line is scaring the **** out of me when you consider how sketchy our interior line is right now. Could be a long first game back for Ryan Grant.

Whistler6
09-05-2008, 05:27 PM
It's going to be a 14-10 or 17-13 type game. If we stuff the box against their run and make Jackson beat us, we will limit their offense tremendously. Buttttt the Williams boys and Jared Allen are going to be in Roger's face the entire night.

Go Pack!

Meh, I can see your reasoning here but i doubt MM is going to pound the rock inside all game long. He ran that inverted wishbone play last year and pitched outside as well. I'd expect to see some more of the same.

with that said, yeah I'm pretty worried about the guys inside as well.

Agreed. Even if we weren't playing against the type of front 4 the Vikes have, Grant wouldn't carry the workload. He certainly won't be full speed come Monday night. I think we'll be seeing a lot of 3 and 4 receiver sets and I think the James Jones injury might be our biggest.

Favre4ever
09-06-2008, 12:02 AM
I cant wait to see Rodgers play. A lot of people don't believe he can lead this team to be a top team in the NFC but i think otherwise. He's smart, he's a fast learner and he proved to us in pre-season that he can rebound from a bad performance when he came back with a near perfect outing.

We questionned his durability, but he's standing strong after taking the most sacks in pre-season. He has a rocket arm, one quick release, he can fit any throw he wants anywhere on the field and he can make plays with his feet.

For those who say that Favre was the reason why this team made it to Conference finals, well they are in for a surprise. Nothing will change from last year, MM can still go empty and let Rodgers throw 40 times a game if the running game is dead like he did with Favre.

I dont know where this team will be after 16 games but hopfully we make it to the PO and then watch out. I think we have a pretty good QB in there for many years to come...

Predictions

Aaron Rodgers 16/23, 190 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 1 fumble, 3 sacks
T Jack 11/20, 145 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT, 2 sacks

Ryan Grant 18 car, 80 yards, 1 fumble, 16 yard TD run
Adrian Peterson 20 car, 72 yards, 5 yard TD run

Greg Jennings 4 catches, 71 yards
Donald Driver 5 catches, 52 yards
Donald Lee 3 catches, 23 yards, 2 yard TD catch

Packers score 1 TD on defense/special teams, I'll call it a Tramon Williams punt return TD

Final score Packers 24, Vikings 14

Keys to game:
Interior OL has to hold up the pocket. Our tackles can handle the edge rush with Allen but I'm worried about stunts against our guards.
DL has to play 4 quarters. I think our defense matches up really well and over matches their offense but if we get tired up front (because of missed preseason conditioning and lack of rotation) their offense will start popping off 5 yard runs every play.

If we lose, I think it will be because our offense is inconsistent and gives them good field position too much.

The defensive front did a solid job of handling Peterson and were all over Jackson.

Very sloppy game for the offensive line, that needs to be figured out soon.

Special teams play was great. Frost punted well (although I still miss Jon Ryan), the Blackmon return was great, and you can't ask for much more from the punt and kick coverage.

The overall officiating was terrible.

Grant looked good in his first action being back.

Rodgers looked great tonight. It's clear that if he can stay healthy, the only person capable of containing him is Tony Moll.

johbur
09-08-2008, 10:11 PM
O-Line: It'd sure be nice to have Wells in there. That was on the ugly side. Moll did nice in pass blocking and Spitz was solid over the rock. WAY too many penalties. Too many TFL's on the run game. All that being said, P-Williams and K-Williams had a combined 7 solo tackles. K-W is no Tommie Harris. Jared Allen's Line: NOTHING. No sacks by their team, and we have a new center and Moll at RG. Toss in Ryan Grant's 7.6 YPC just for fun. Vikings defense did not impress me and the Packers offense with Rodgers at the helm was composed, efficient and went after some big plays. Jennings is a play-maker and There's a lot of teams that could have had Rodgers prior to the 24th pick three years ago and they're getting to see exactly what they're missing. His rushing was suberb and timely, he was on-target and showed that no throw in this offense is beyond him.

Our defense concerned me and we'll see how the pass coverage holds up against a team with a real QB and real WRs. Still held AD in check, though he has a decent game. They still have a solid O-line and the pass rush was all over the QB, even with only one sack showing. Vikings spent $80 million on free agents or something and have Tavaris Jackson at the helm? Are you kidding? Why do Vikings fans tolerate this? God bless 'em and thanks to Zygi!

Special teams pwned the Vikings. TT kept Tracy White, has brought Will Blackmon along and has showed how much he values special teams. I was worried about cutting the punter a week before the season, but Frost had solid directional punting. It cost us a field goal, but Blackmon returned a punt for a TD and the blocking on that return was superior, with those core Teamers like Hall and White tossing blocks. Rouse also good on coverage along with Tramon.

Areas to improve for next game: With the Lions next game and them getting run on for 300+ yards by Atlanta, I want to see GB equal that rushing total, though that'll likely be their focus. Grant with a 200 yard game would be pretty hot, but Grant with 150, Jackson with 50, Lumpin with 25 and Rodgers with 35 would be a nice day, along with Rodgers hitting 80% of his passes again like he did against the Vikings.

Go Packers!!!

GB12
09-08-2008, 10:29 PM
The best part about tonight other than the win is that all the crap about how good the Vikings DL is all offseason long and they come up with nothing. "But Allen didn't have Pat and Kevin Williams next to him last year, you can't stop all three of them" Well just like I have been saying we did. And Allen didn't help their secondary at all like everyone was saying he would. If you have a secondary as bad as that a pass rusher is not enough to help it. As I've said before he might take you out of the very bottom, but they'll still be in the bottom half.

neko4
09-08-2008, 11:08 PM
I dont think we should worry a whole lot about the PI's. Last season we started out the year with alot of PI's. One of the calls was bogus, another one or two shouldve been called.

JF4
09-08-2008, 11:19 PM
I thought Nick Collins and Atari Bigby both had solid games. Many people have been calling for Rouse, but unless an injury happens I don't see him getting significant PT. Collins and Bigby were both very aggresive tonight, punishing WR's, jarring balls loose, and making solid tackles. Also a nice big play by Bigby with the INT.

Like johbur mentioned though, it will be nice to see how they hold up against a real passing attack, and if they can cut down on the blown coverages they can be a pretty good tandem back there.

RockJock07
09-08-2008, 11:37 PM
If we can get presure on the qb like we did tonight, I'm confident in the secondary's ability to stop passing teams. Hawk was a animal tonight, as was Kampman. The hit Hawk put on Jackson was just not fair, he laid him out.

BTW, Lane Kiffin needs a hug right now, sorry it was totally unrelated to this thread but my god the Raiders are bad.

I thought we played very well over all, Rodgers looked good and once a few big plays were added in we were well on our way.

Hopefully we get Wells back next week and the OLine can stop the stupid penalties although Clifton deserves credit for taking Allen out of the game. Ryan Grant should also get a higher proportion of carries and that should help out as well.

Also I was slightly concerned that Jackson was able to complete so many passes in the second half despite being pressured constantly. Although having said that none of the secondary played badly and I though Nick Collins looked very good.

some random thoughts:

-i don't think i can say anything about Rodgers that wasn't already said, but he was obviously impressive. showed everything ya want to see. good deep ball. smart decision making. ability to run. great poise in the pocket. that TD pass was...well...there's no other way to say it..Favre-esque.

-didn't the vikings sign Jared Allen in the off season? i could've sworn i heard something about that. seriously. chad clifton was dominant.

-as expected, the interior o-line got kinda owned by the Williams sisters. but, they were adequate in not letting the pocket collapse from the inside. and, we obviously didn't run much because of the mismatch in the middle.

-too many boneheaded moments. i would expect a lot of penalties in the opener, but the holding call when we were just running down the clock was inexcusable. getting the ball with 2:38 left and giving it back with 1:51 left when the other team used 1 timeout is terrible. terrible.
also boneheaded was Atari Bigby returning that interception. nothing to gain. everything to lose. showed a lot of immaturaty and hot-headedness there.

-refs were on our side. 2 PI calls against the Packers didn't get called. that helps. i can't remember the last time i used the phrase "refs were on our side."

-brad childress is a bad coach. seriously, AD was ripping off decent runs on a consistent basis early in the game, but, just like the 2 vikings games last year, Brad Childmolester gave up on the run as soon as his team was losing and put the game squarely on Jackson's shoulders. NOT a good idea.

-Will Blackmon's return was really really exciting to watch.

-great pressure by the D-line...and, i was surprised by the amount of blitzing. that just wasn't the Packer's MO last year, but, everytime they sent an extra rusher, they were right in Jackson's face.

-as far as things that worry me for the future, that blocked FG was pretty disturbing.

Alright, I'll throw in my input.

Rodgers looked good. He looked really good. This was a tough first test for him, against a premiere defense that supposedly had gotten considerably stronger in the offseason, even. He avoided the pass rush unbelievably well and ran the ball at the right times (ie.. when a Viking came off the edge and had a clear line at him he just turned and took off for the first and then when he was rolling out and instead of making a dumb throw got a 20-yard run.)

That TD pass was unbelievable. He was completely off balance, with 3 guys about to hit him, and somehow threw into perfect coverage and hit the spot on the dime. It was EXACTLY where it needed to be. Crazy, crazy good throw.

His long ball looked terrific and his arm strength, which sometimes goes unnoticed, was awesome. Also helps that our two big receivers, Jennings and Driver, seem to have a good feel for him and both looked as incredible as they ever have. That one TD to Driver that got called back because of a ******** penalty was oh so sweet.

Grant didn't get many chances but was awesome with what he did or at least that long run and the 4 broken ankles at the end of it made up for any lack of production before that. It hasn't been talked about much but there was always a chance he was a fluke last year or went down a notch this year but he seems to be the real deal.

Special teams looked superb EXCEPT for that blocked kick. I wonder if Crosby slipped or something because it looked incredibly low, like he was going for a 60 yarder instead of a 30-some yarder. Maybe just a slip-up there and hopefully won't happen again.

Lots of penalties. Lots of stupid penalties. Yeah, Harris/Woodson could have been called for PI a couple times but.. it's Harris and Woodson, that's to be expected.

Overall.. I was very, very happy. If you consider the missed FG and the ineligible person downfield passing TD that was called back, it would have been 34-19.

Now, we need to take it to the Lions to boost Rodger's and the whole teams confidence going into the big Dallas game.

*edit* Oh and Jared Allen.. you are officially Chad Clifton's *****. GG.

Green Bay - Vikings coach Brad Childress exited Lambeau Field after Monday night's loss to the Packers without shaking Mike McCarthy's hand.

The state television pool feed showed McCarthy at midfield after the game. He looked around puzzled for a minute, apparently searching for Childress, and then McCarthy started to leave the field, shaking the hand of a Vikings assistant along the way.

Here's what it says directly after what you posted

Titletown, you should work in the news. That's some skillful manipulation of the facts. By the way, what does your love of Valdosta stem from?

It dosen't matter which way I quoted it to tell you the truth. The fact of the matter if he didn't shake him hand after the game. He was caressing Tjack? Big deal, every coach knows it's proper etiquette to shake hands at midfield after the game has ended. It was a dick move. It dosen't matter if he called up MM and apologized later, he still didn't shake his hand, which was the subject, Fact, and what I posted.

My love of Valdosta?
